This game has an awesome story for a horse riding simulator. All joking aside though, this game is awesome, and that's just from someone two hours in.

Just got to Thieves Landing, got off my horse to go buy the bandanna and when I came out of the store I saw my horse out on the dock. It reared up on last time and jumped to it's death in the water. I don't know what I did to upset it

Slaughtering all wildlife within a half mile radius is giving me some heavy Oregon Trail vibes. Also thanks for the info for that achievement, I figured it would but wasn't sure.

I don't know what I did to upset it I thought I was so smart one time. I walked just past the water hazards on foot, to be sure I had a clear path from there out of town. Then I whistled for my horse and felt so sure I had figured it all out. I watched as my horse perked up his ears, took off running toward me... and within five steps he had plowed directly into the only body of water that was still even vaguely nearby. If they release a horse with inflatable pool floaties on each leg as DLC, I promise I'll buy it immediately. aliencowboy posted:Has anyone else had Strangers disappear on them? I'll get off to loot a body or skin an animal, going only a couple steps away. Pan the camera around, no sign of the horse. Finally whistle for him, and he emerges from some nearby bushes or something. Goddamnit horse, this is no time for your games!

Anyone have any idea what the titles for Weapons might be, or when they unlock? I quickly scroll through the weapon challenges list, and see that they only unlock XP, but there's a whole titles section for weapons in the outfitter. I googled to no avail, and would love to at least earn a shotgun-type title, but that probably won't be feasible if I have to get 75 PvP shotgun kills or whatever.

teekun posted:Yeah, gently caress that mission. I feel like I'm playing World of Warcraft or some poo poo trying to collect all the crap he needs. Someone posted this earlier in the thread but there's a very easy way to get all the small animal collections as long as you can find just one of them. When you find your one animal, shoot it and don't skin it yet. Ride away until the point where the corpse is falls off the edge of your minimap (just riding till the X disappeared never worked for me) then turn around and go back and there should be a new animal spawned near the corpse. Kill it and skin the old corpse, since it'll disappear eventually when you do the ride aways, then repeat with the new corpse. I used this to get my raccoon and fox pelts so I can testify that it works.

It's been over week since it disappeared.

Its really annoying have a bounty all bound up on your horse only for him to be shot to death by some other bad guy chasing you How much more do you get for bringing in guys alive rather than dead?

I had a weird bug today that caused everyone to be super hostile to me for no reason. Hero honor, no bounty. Funny thing was they'd still do their introductory speech, then pull a gun and go nuts on me. "Come sit at our fire, senor!" BLAM BLAM "Please, they took my wagon!" BLAM BLAM "The prisoners are escaping!" BLAM BLAM Also I saw a cougar in a frozen pounce animation gliding slowly from one horizon to another - the endless journey of the levitating cougar yogi. This game has some of the most entertaining bugs.

I've decided the one thing this game really needs is a Fallout3 like "Rest for X hours" option. Night missions are so loving bad on my low contrast LCD Yes, I know I can go to sleep. Not the same

The trick to finding animals is riding to a spot where they are likely to spawn, riding away until you can't see the spot, then riding back. Every time you return it calculates the random encounter there. The best I found for cougars was actually the same as the boars; north of Hennigan's Stead where you see the hog on the map. Specifically the short rail bridge across the small ravine.

I personally think the game looks really crisp and gorgeous during the day and prefer to play it during daytime hours, but it seems that I somehow end up with a nearly perpetual nighttime experience. It is very annoying. And on a completely unrelated note, do you have to have the entire map unlock to complete all the challenge thingies? You know, the survivalist and sharpshooter things.

The sharpshooter challenges I don't think you do since they're pretty much all generic "disarm this many dudes, kill this many dudes in one deadeye" or whatever, but the survivalist, hunter, and treasure hunter challenges all require stuff you can only find/kill in the final county. edit: nevermind, one sharpshooter rank requires bears so you need West Elizabeth unlocked to do sharpshooter as well.

Isn't one of the sharpshooter challenges to kill two bears each with a single shot? You need the entire map open to gain access to bears.

So I was just playing around and found something really, really fun. Lets say for a second some rear end in a top hat is screwing you over in multiplayer with his super powered gun of whatever. As soon as you spawn, build up a little deadeye. Not alot, but enough to enter it for like a second. Then pull out the throwing knives. The moment you deadeye him it will throw the knife because it's considered to have an ammo of one, killing him instantly. The knives also seem to have a faster travel time. This will one shot anything in the game I've tried so far.

The beaver in the very top part is actually located in the small clearing near the river at the far northern part of the map, most people really don't go there because it's a little out of the way. I think I wandered there a couple times in search of Bighorn.
