Thanks for the invites (teflonjuan), but it seems like it aint working. Sigh. Anyone else in your posse want to try to get me? I'd be much obliged.

I play with headphones on, so I guess it's just easier for me to tell the difference, but I always know when there's a rattler around. Also, if there's something dangerous nearby, your horse warns you. He starts grunting and neighing to tell you he's nervous about something. If you're standing still or walking/trotting slowly and he's acting funny, pick up the pace because there's a good chance he's about to be taken out by a snake or cougar or wolf or bear or oh God there are so many things that want to kill you in this game

I love this game. Some cheeky bastard just knocked me off my horse and started riding away, but I remembered that happening to someone in this thread and just whistled him to come back. I pull out my revolver, casually line up a shot, and the thief just says a slow "Sheeeit..." like a white Clay Davis as it dawns on him what's happened. I ended up just lassoing him off and letting him walk on because it was just awesome. Also that Ashtar Command song off the soundtrack fits this game so perfectly.

I shot a miner in the hand during the Gaptooth Gang Hideout while working towards my Sharpshooter 10 Rank and after he lost his gun, he raised his hands and surrendered. I let him walk and he hustled out of that mine shaft like a bat out of hell. It's the first and only time anything like that has happened. Most of the enemy AI just keep trying to pick up the gun and shoot back at me until I end up killing them.

Dre2Dee2 posted:I still don't see any purpose to buying a horse at the store either... To the contrary, it's actually very useful. When you buy a horse deed, it stays in your inventory forever and ever, no matter how many times you use it. So if you're riding a 3-star horse, and it dies, you can just use the deed to get a new one, no problem. It is a little pointless for the 2 and 1 star horses, but for three star horses, it's totally invaluable, you should definitely buy at least one.

Found something interesting! If you stab someone with the throwing knife and then loot their body, you'll get another throwing knife back, even though you didn't actually throw one into them. Also, if you DID throw one to kill them, after you loot it back, it'll still be stuck in their head or whatever. I, uh, killed a lot of people with throwing knives in Thieves' Landing yesterday.

I've had horses keel over and die for no reason too. One time it happened RIGHT in front of a hitching post, where I'm sure there couldn't have been any snakes. In another instance, I had a horse keel over and die right in the middle of a bounty hunt. I was being shot at, but the catch is that I tried the hunt a second time and the horse died in the exact same spot. I never ride my horses too hard, so I have no idea what's up with that.

I'm pretty disappointed and glad at the same time that the only 2 glitches I've encountered have been the ones that interupt the two vocal pieces of music in the game. When I entered Mexico I didnt hear the music thats supposed to play at all, the only reason I can think why is that I whistled for my horse rather than taking the one that was in front of me. Then after completing 'the truth will set you free' I heard someone singing for about 2 seconds before I picked up some hummingbird sage and killed the track. It kinda ruins the atmosphere that Rockstar intended for I guess.

Another thing, I wish the fire effect would last longer in this game. I almost got ambushed wandering around outside Armadillo at night, killed all the would-be bandits, shot the girl who tried to lure me in in the head, killed all the horses, then threw a molotov on their stage coach and wanted to park on a nearby hill and watch the fire in the distance, but I take not 10 steps away and the fire already died out.
