Just curious, are these things acceptable by the UO ToS? If so, this may be that griefing-MMO I was looking for. Fake teleports, baiting enemies and keeping them from attacking you, easy scamming. This could be fun as hell.

Deception as legitimate gameplay is always fun in online games. That's probably why Spy is my favorite TF2 class.

UO isn't like that anymore at all. You'll have to go for a free-shard if you want something like that, and most of them are run by horrible admins like that one dude.

Yes all legit. The game is unrecognizable now though. It's been patch to hell and back and made carebear friendly. The game ceased to be what it was prior to 2002.

The cloak and dagger is great for advertising that you're behind enemy snipers or engies and getting away while they freak out looking for you and getting killed by your teammates.

Kill one sniper enough and they dedicate their entire effort into hunting you down. It's awesome.

Some griefing I used to do back in WoW when burning crusade was new, was to wander around a grinding area on about 1/3 HP and alliance would constantly turn up and attack me, hoping to score a free easy kill, but what they didn't know was that I had two friends playing an alliance priests sitting nearby, and they would run over and mindcontrol me just before i'd die, heal me completely up and demind control me, then i'd proceed to kick the poo poo out of the would be ganker.

So TF2 had a pretty sweet update today. Allowing Macs to play. Well Valve made another one time only item that only players who play on a mac can get: Ipod earbuds

If you can grab one of these, change your name to something Apple related, bind a key to say something like "you just killed by a Mac", and keep touting how superior Mac users are at TF2 than PC users. You will rage dumb nerds 100%.

I must say, the most fun I've ever had griefing was playing as a monk on everquest. I played through Kunark and Velius and the times I had hitting the fun button were just too much. The game was so ridiculously buggy with its pathing, that I would not be surprised if I killed most level 60s on the server with feign death.

I was in a pretty good guild too, so even if people wouldn't group me because of the amount of rage they had, I'd just go do a guild group.

They even tried to fix having entire zones wiped because of this by having the top tier bosses have an ability that would instantly tp you to them, but as long as they had full HP they would not use it. One time I got the boss in velk (I think it was velkator) to the beginning of the zone, and then my party got to hang out in the zone while it was empty. Good times...

Homeworld
Or how hyperspace became so very deadly
One of the cruel tactics to use in Homeworld was hyperspace kamikaze.
When you plotted a jump on the game map you were capable of targeting inside large objects, namely people's motherships.

Your ship would jump, then collide and damage their mothership, all the while being nearly impossible to stop.
Gravity wells only stopped things exiting the jump portal thing, it didn't stop objects hitting other objects.

So poor players were stricken with horror as all they heard was "Hyperspace jump detected" and their mothership loosing a ton of health.

The only way around it was to set your mothership on a patrol loop.

Flight of the harvesters
It wasn't commonly known, but harvesters had hyperspace capabilities.
They also were categorized under "corvette" and thus were able to kamikaze.
A cheap tactic was to send an army of these things into the opposing mothership as they could take a few hits (the same as a frigate) and weren't affected by gravwells.
The only downside was their cost of 650.

I was always a fan of Probe Golf.

For those who have never played Homeworld, probes are, well, probes. They're used to check an area out before moving into position. They're cheap and fast, but the catch is they have little armor, no weapons, and you can only move them once. Now, Homeworld has a feature where you can make any ship self-destruct. Probes have a particularly nice explosive radius. I made it a point to build a handful of probes and shoot them straight at my opponent, who, early in the game, was probably sending waves of fighters out. It wasn't overly effective as it would only blow up a handful of fighters at once, but drat if even the sight of a wayward probe didn't piss everyone off. At one point, I recall people banning it out right and ragequitting if you did it even accidentally.

Actually, probes were glitchy and you could move them multiple times(though it was considered cheating by the community).

I always loved the ACCESS cheat that you could play on newbies. You'd whisper to them that if they typed in ACCESS their mothership would be invincible. In reality, the ACC did nothing, but ESS is select everything, scuttle, scuttle. It would cause them to instantly die.

Salvagers in Homeworld were fun to dick around with.

You needed about two to haul in someone's frigate, but if you had one the little sucker would act like a tug boat and just push the thing around in circles.
It would piss people with ion cannon frigates off immensely as they were unable to target anything.
Assualt frigates were able to sort of get around it as their main turrets rotated.

Or being an utter arse and pinning down a fighter screen with a gravwell then sending a fleet of salvagers to capture as many frigates that were being escorted as possible.

A carrier with a few salvagers were great at disrupting mining ops as you'd jump in, unload, capture, then resuming mining with your own mob.

Exactly. The only fun part about Gmod RP is actually loving over/with everyone else and their creations. It's never serious, no matter what the rules or people playing within the server say. If things went the way they were supposed to according to the rules, nobody would play at all. Nobody will really admit it, but fighting against or with people that are wreaking havoc in the server is what it's all about.

The same applies to other "serious" game modes in Gmod, like Stranded. The only fun part is stealing from others and/or burning down their buildings.

I tried out the San Andreas Role Playing server awhile back and there were people there who's idea of fun was role playing a cabby. Just picking people up, driving them around and sperging out when you ran away without paying or beat them to death. Then the people who thought it would be fun to role play police would show up and take you to internet jail. So they would sit around and wait from someone in a GTA game to do something illegal and then fake arrest them.

I was permabanned before I could do anything fun like go on a killing spree, I think their heads would have exploded if I did that.

So yeah, as boring as it sounds, there is some shut in somewhere just dying to open a Garry's Mod T-shirt store and flip their poo poo any time someone slightly deviates from the fantasy in their head and crushes their precious immersion.

SARP was actually pretty fun if you were in a gang. You'd join a gang, and go attack the other gangs while the police tried to bust it up. We would have two Los Santos gangs fighting and then the mafia would show up in sentinels, shoot everyone and drive off while both gangs took off after them.

The only problem was that you could only join the police if you were friends with one guy. That's the main problem with these RP type games, you can't ever really be what you want to, because some rear end in a top hat won't let pick that class. But being a gang member was pretty much the only fun role. You could be a reporter which meant you got to type up news stories, which no one read. Be the mayor (you can't be the mayor) or the police which you can't do either.
