I love my mustang but if I blow it up I'm going to be pissed. Is there a full build list of what's done to that evolution car? I love waiting months for a dieing publishing medium to tell me about the latest goings on in my hobby instead of getting it directly from the horse's mouth the instant it happens. Enough ranting. So, to update this with sad news since I apparently jinxed myself horrifically - my transmission decided to eat itself. It ended up with a blown servo bore in the transmission, needing either a replacement of the solenoid body and servo bore, or just straight up replacing the whole transmission. On top of that, apparently the guy I bought the car from never sent in the paperwork to transfer the powertrain warranty, so I'm eating a decent chunk of change to fix it. Nothing I can't handle, but definitely makes me more than a little sad since it had been so reliable up till now.

It's fun chirping the tires just easing away from a light. FWIW, you can have them set it for whatever shift firmness you want. Their website is kind of out of date as you can tell. One section tells you the transmission can handle 850hp and the price page tells you their generic 450hp rating. Still, $3k for an 850hp capable transmission from a reputable company is pretty decent.

Yeah, it's a pretty good deal considering the price, I thought the same thing. TCI trannies have always been good to me. After 20 years spent replacing spider gears, the constant BANG of a really hard-shifting automatic makes me inwardly cringe.

My plan was to go in tomorrow morning, get the written estimate for replacement + their best guess as to what happened and see if they'd be willing to honor the warranty (which is apparently not in my name but I understood to have transferred when I purchased the car), and then chat with the Ford customer support people if not. No it will not upset them. Either the dealership or FMC should be able to transfer the remaining ESP into your name. The transfer fee is ~$75.

I know David bought a 2008 Shelby and made a few parts for it when he couldn't find what he wanted in the aftermarket. He said he's going to offer a full line of stuff for the new 5.0, including a turbo kit.

I just checked one of the UK importers' sites, and thanks to the pound strengthening against the dollar I found I could have a GT Premium imported and on the road (including all taxes and SVA work) for £32,000. Except that right now, I'm buying a house and don't have 32 grand to spare any more. Dammit. Just for comparison, £32k would get the absolute cheapest possible 5-Series diesel, a Focus RS, the bottom end of the Audi TT range, and be slightly short of the base Boxster. None of which I would particularly want. Okay, so maybe I don't actually need a bigger house...

After the wife and I rented one on a recent trip to Cape Cod, I fell in love with the 2011 Mustang. It's crazy because I've never had any passion at all for American pony cars. I thought I'd be a WRX guy for life. After that rental, I'm absolutely shocked at what an incredible car the 2011 Mustang is. I'm headed to the dealership today to test drive a convertible V6 and a standard GT, both with a manual. Unfortunately, my budget won't allow me to get a GT convertible. I'm so torn on which to get. We'll see how much I like the GT.
