Heh, I know I won't be able to see everything in two playthroughs -- I just want to make sure I don't ignore any options on this playthrough.

I did get a bonus course after getting a high score on Mina's weapons training (it was getting a chance to snipe at Darcy in the same course), but I've seen people mention a stealth training course, and I was hoping I didn't just forget to open a door or go down a certain hallway to get to it. There's three training courses, and they should all be marked on your map - weapons training with Mina, gadget training with Darcy and stealth training with Parker. If you're facing the door to weapons training, turn left and you'll be facing gadget training, right and you'll be facing stealth training. Or vice versa, I forget.

Each one of these also has a bonus objective, unlocked by getting a high score on it. Parker's is probably the most interesting.

The game doesn't have native AA support. If you have it, it's probably force enabled in your GPU driver settings.

Well, poo poo. (And no wonder I didn't get the perk for picking so many Recruit dialogue choices -- I didn't have all the conversations I needed to have.) I'll have to remember this for my Veteran run.

Has anyone else had similar problems? I've spent 3 hours combing the web trying to get AP to run, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, physx, VC++, unplugging my second monitor, etc. and I still can't get it to start. When I run APGame.exe (either through the launcher or manually) I get an Alpha Protocol icon on my taskbar and after a few seconds this window pops up:

APGame.exe stops responding, no events in the windows logs until I force close it. If I let it run, it pegs 2/4 cores and occupies about 200mb of memory but just sits there.

For reference I've got Win7 x64, Radeon 6950. All options in Catalyst control center set to application controlled. I just bought the graphics card two weeks ago and am seriously considering going back to my old GTX 275 just to see if it will let me launch the game.

I put an easteregg there but I've never heard anyone mention it, so I wonder if it's just really subtle or if it got removed at some point.

I'm not sure if it was actually the main console or one of the laptops near it, if the subsequent artist/designer on the level took out the extra laptops, they probably also took out the computer logged in to FYAD.

It's "best practice" to use the same texture for all devices that do the same thing, in this case, intractable computers, so I I was dumb enough to put the texture on the computer you use to end the level, then that's why it got taken out.

EDIT: The texture is probably still in the game, though, so someone could always mod it. Get on it, goons.

I did this, except without the stealth, which I assume would make it easier.

Most important bit of advice for a full non-lethal run (if that's what you're going for): gadgets are your backup. Some enemies, in some levels (all the ones I can think of are optional), you will be forced to fight without being able to reach them. The biggest offender is a level-ending fight in Taipei, and an optional boss in Moscow.

Some people will also complain about a certain required boss in Moscow. Those people are silly and can't tell when a game is telling you run and wait.

They mean wired Xbox 360 controller, which is USB. You can get an adaptor for original Xbox controllers if you like, though!

Personally, I thought it was fine with KB+M; the only issue I had is that the hacking minigame tutorial tells you the wrong controls.

That said, if you do want to play it with a 360 controller, a normal wired 360 controller will Just Work when you plug it in to the computer.

If you have wireless 360 controllers, the Play & Charge adapters won't actually let the gamepad communicate with your PC. For that, you can either use one of these dongles for your PC, or you can use a wired controller like Category Fun! or ToxicFrog suggest.

It's funny that it only seems to happen if you do it after dying. It's almost like an exaggerated auto-adjusting difficulty feature. "Oh, having a bit of trouble? How about I just get rid of all the bad people that shoot at you. :smug:"

That happened to me in a couple of missions, including twice in the final Taipei level.

Actually, it also happened in the "bug the airfield" one after I reloaded to undo triggering an alarm.

Al-Samad Airfield seems kind of hosed with checkpoint reloading in general. The first checkpoint in particular will reload with you standing up and thus in full view of the guard there, so if you're trying to be stealthy you need to rewind all the way to the safehouse.

I've gone for a stealth run with Martial Arts as a back up when it failed. I just can't help myself. Its so fun running around knifing everyone in the neck. I thought the final boss in Saudi Arabia was going to gently caress me over, I was waiting for Shadow operative to cool down to run up the stairs without being shot to pieces and just decided to throw an incendiary grenade while I waited. Best idea ever. I've not put any points in it yet (recruit so was levelling MA and stealth first) but I've chosen the gadget skill as my 3rd major skill.

I actually grabbed this game literally the night before the Steam sale but while I'm mad about my timing since I didn't download it until the next day anyway, it'd have been worth every penny even if it wasn't on sale. I came in expecting really bad combat, but with the 360 controller it's actually pretty fun once you get used to the controls. A stealth run would probably be really tough, and the "sticky cover", so to speak, seems a little spotty, but using Awareness to wait until a guard is just behind a door, then busting it down and stomping him never gets old.

Stealth runs get really easy once you pump up the stealth line a bit. At level 5 awareness becomes a passive ability so you always know where guards are and which way they're facing. Then once you have evasion and shadow operative, you can literally turn invisible, walk right up in front of somebody and do a takedown, which doesn't break your invisibility, so you can take down the guy next to him too. When you don't need to worry about somebody seeing you, use silent running to sprint up behind him and knock him out.

Ya, that sort of sums up the game for me. The story is really engrossing for some reason, the subject matter isn't anything really new so the only thing I can think that's different is the amount of back story these characters get. They feel real. Either way it's too bad people got turned off by the gameplay.

Hell yes. My last playthrough was Melee/AR focused. AR was just there for the very few occasions when I couldn't get all up in someones face. Beyond that, I beat the poo poo out of almost every enemy in the game, including all the bosses apart from two (who I couldn't reach).

Melee plus Tougness is a potent talent combo, giving you Fury and Iron Will, allowing you to inflict damage at a crazy rate, benefit from time dilation, while being incredibly tough. Edit: And to be sure, the viability of melee doesn't depend on the use of Fury or Iron Will - they are just two cherries on the cake, as it were.
