I think one of my favorite aspects of the writing of this game is the occasional dorkiness of the "suave" responses. At first I would experimentally pick them and then  at whatever Mike said, thinking the writer had just been bad at crafting "smooth" lines like in every other RPG ever, but then I started noticing that the other characters listening would cringe as well. It's like the writers went postmodern in lampooning how awkward most RPG writing is.

Edit: Yup, level 14 and now I can get the last two ranks.

As far as I know, you can only do the standard run, not the full on sprint, but I might be wrong.

Its also knife everyone in the neck. The worst bit being when you get that long take down when he slowly lowers them to the floor, meaning you don't know if you have enough time to reach everyone else.

So I'm trying to get a secret fact about Madison. I've slept with her, and now my choice is to go to intercept Marburg at the museum. If I go now she'll be captured, but the FAQ I checked says I should be able to talk to her about her dossier after sleeping with her. Unfortunately it won't let me talk to her; Mike says he should let her sleep and then the option doesn't even come up. Bug? Did I do missions in the wrong order? Do I have to choose her at the museum?

Sauve tends to be more Sterling Archer than Bond especially the NPC reaction to the more horrible smooth lines.

I think you jumped the gun on sleeping with her. You get an option to sleep with her right away, or you can talk with her a bit before you sleep with her. I think if you talked you would have gotten the secret fact.

Question for the end of Moscow; In my first run, I had tech pumped, and so got the option to save both the Halbech data and my helpful handler. Second run as a rookie I didn't so I didn't; now i'm going through it as a veteran, and my tech is high enough, but instead I get a veteran option which is basically "gently caress 'em, they knew the risks".

Did I misread, or can you just not do both as a veteran?

For some reason I cannot hack any computers anymore. It immediately fails as soon as the window opens.
I also die immediately if I am shot.

I did the Steam validation of files, but still all dicked up.

Any ideas?

Edit: I can only kill with sneak attacks. I punched a guy for a solid 3-5 minutes and he barely lost any health.

You can do both. Just choose the veteran option, grab the info first, and then go for the captive ally second. There is a bug if you choose the option to leave them there, you will get stuck and won't be able to advance the mission. I did this and had to restart the mission.

I've had a lot of bugs at exactly that point. I think it's just a bit of a weak link there.

You have to have 100% before the conversation, the revelation is then added to her dossier as a secret fact.

There's a piece of intel in the last area of the Roman ruins that's easy to miss. I don't think I noticed it until my third or fourth playthrough.

Question about Moscow, Alpha Protocol labeled mission: After infiltrating Brayko's place and subsequently letting him live, a new mission popped up tagged with the AP symbol. If I remember right it was to meet back up with Surkov. I decided to hit up Tapei to check on if there were any new missions there. After seeing there weren't any new ones I headed back to Moscow and that mission had disappeared. I'm now just about to start the missions labeled Endgame. I'm curious if what happened is normal and some missions are travel sensitive, or if it bugged out. Just feels like I missed quite a bit in Moscow possibly. Haven't seen much of Sie or Sis since the first meetings.

You've got to go to Surkov IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise he grabs the first flight to You Don't Have A loving Clue, laughing all the way there.

And new missions never appear in any of the hubs while you're doing others. Every hub can be completed in one pass.

Okay, I'm loving this game, but I'd like to punch the person or persons responsible for the PC port of the controls Right. In. The. loving. Sack.

I use a weird control scheme in games typically anyway, and not only does it actively lie to you re: rebound controls (hacking tutorial), if a button is multi-purpose, it only rebinds some of the uses, and leaves the other ones as default, which is so goddamn sloppy, I just don't know... :psyduck:

And now I'm completely stuck at the sniper scope "scan the dudes" mission, because when I zoom in with the scope, I can't seem to un-zoom it so I can move around and progress with the mission. I've tried every button on the keyboard. :argh:

Ideas? Has anyone else gotten this?

Is there anything I can do other than reload my last save at the safehouse and buy the sniper rifle? Great game so far, but this part is so loving dumb that I'm close to giving up. The loving guy doesn't even move when a grenade is thrown a foot away from him.

I mentioned this in the last thread, and I think in this one too, but it needs to be said again:

Do not treat AP combat like it's a shooter, or even an action RPG. Treat it like you're playing a puzzle game. You have X amount of enemies and Y amount of skills/ Z amount of gadgets. How can you use or combine Y+Z to eliminate all of X? Someone already mentioned it, but with stealth and pistols you can start with Shadow operative neck stabs and then, once that wears off, activate chain shot to take down a few more guys. Chuck some grenades or shock bombs at the far guys, activate fury and close into whoever is closest while you wait for Chain Shot to refresh. As longs as dudes are shooting at you, they won't be shooting at Surkov.

rawdog pozfail

Yeah when I'm trying to accomplish a specific goal I go stealth, pistols, and whichever one gives you Brilliance and near the end of hub two you're able to Shadow Operative-> immediately pop brilliance so its cooldown begins ticking -> shadow operative again (stacks w/ previous shadow op) -> 46 seconds of being able to run around full-speed (final rank of shadow operative) stabbing the poo poo out of everything -> brilliance only has 4 seconds left on its cooldown, pop it again and pop shadow operative for another 23 seconds of stabby fun time.

So basically you'are almost always invulnerable. Chain shot bosses. Makes the combat completely moot. Soonmot's puzzle game analogy is perfect. I'm about to do a crazy aloof patriotic shotgun Thorton run and it's going to be tough- I've pretty much always sided with Shaheed, it jusst feels right dammit!

I gimped that one by immediately laying down some incendiary mines while I was still stealthed and before Deng spotted me for the first time.

When his reinforcements came in through the elevator, they got burned.

Actually, one of my mines didn't get tripped by reinforcements so after one expert chain shot and one incendiary mine, Deng was done.

OK I need some help from any of you guys who are pretty good at stealth, goin on a "No Alarms" unless scripted run

Taipei: On the bugging the warehouse mission, just made it onto the rooftop with the 2 patrolling ground guards and the 4 on the ledges. I can get the 2 patrollers and the guard on the close ledge immediately to the left, but can not find a working strategy for the 3 by the dish. I get one on the edge and the other somehow sees everytime. I have first level chainshot, silent run, and shadow agent (started on recruit). Seems the only way to get any of the guards is with chainshot but it doesnt cool down fast enough to get the alerted guard who sees. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just remembered which level you're referring to, and it was pretty difficult even as a Veteran. You should be trying to get to a point where you're able to stealthily kill all the grown level guards and work your way to a point where after you drop the last one you'll be in a spot where you can get 3 headshots on the guards up above. If you want to cheese it just wait for Shadow Agent cooldowns wherever possible behind the air conditioning units, and slowly creep until all the guards are dead.

e: (in response to next page) Or I guess you can just actually be stealthy? I never tried that :saddowns:
