When I respawned I just shanked him but this time he had a small group of people staring at it. It was buatyful seeing half the team just staring at this picture. I don't really get what you did there. If you mean everyone appearing as errors and textures being pink and black boxes, that is client-side so it's just you seeing that.

That's the joke. If I was trying to legitimately roleplay in garry's mod (lol) i would have joined and seen that, because the server sucks and doesn't make you download any of those textures. And the textures are completely loving unnecessary, they're all poorly made custom car models or awful 4chan bullshit playermodels. I w as trying to make fun of the ridiculousness of bad gmod servers but i probably didn't get it across very well.

Usually if you're missing a texture in a valve game it gives you a black and purple checkered texture. It's usually noticeable when someone uses their spraypaint and leaves the game.

Got bored. After I racked up a few grief points I pulled a Vindicator (large armored bus), filled it with random troops and drove it in circles blaring its incredibly loud and annoying air horn. They couldn't bail because it was moving too fast. I had them stuck listening to TOOT TOOT for ten minutes before a tank found us and blew us up.

Rutkowski posted:You do realize that you don't explain jack poo poo with that post? poo poo, I don't even know whatgame that is. It's Planetside, a Sony MMOFPS. Whenever you damage a friendly, you get Grief Points which flash up in big red numbers in the middle of your screen. Get enough Grief Points and your weapons will lock or you'll get a temporary ban, but it takes a lot and you can usually kill several teammates before you have repercussions. The fun is in shooting random friendlies just enough to avoid consequence and then pleading ignorance. Your grief points tick off after a time, so you can do this fairly regularly. There is a large population of Chinese players, hence the faux broken English. The Vindicator grief is fairly self-explanatory. They were stuck as passengers in a vehicle that I was driving in circles while forced to hear a loud and annoying horn over and over. The best part is that you can't respawn while in a vehicle unless you Alt+F4.

Ah, a griefing thread Reminds me of the days back when I had 56k net and a laptop, downloaded secondlife and started just loving with people on their properties. Oh, the endless fun I had with it. TO begin, I should say that all objects in second life were either scripts or objects with custom skins. A gun was as simple as a script that told the game that 'object a' would be propelled loving fast in one direction. So you can imagine the potential that suddenly arose when I discovered the ability to replace the bullet inside of the gun with another object. Cubes with gore on either side of them that spun wildly, homed in on their target, and would flood the area with text-spam. Tiny, tiny invisible shapes that would drop 'particle' rain - man-sized pictures of stupid poo poo, or whatever you can imagine (usually goatse). Of course this was all possible because you were able to upload pictures from your computer AS textures in the game. The admins would occasionally delete them but seeing as they costed hardly 10 cents to upload I was all over it. Blocks that shot up into the sky like a firework before raining gigantic phallic objects on the surrounding area. A 'scouter' cube that would count at an incredible rate from 1 to 9001 before exploding, nuking the area with hundreds of cubes yelling vegeta's catchphrase. I'd take down entire grids (the second life game was suspended on a series of virtual grids, each held together by the magic of spit and prayer) by simply dropping individual cubes that contained a copy of themselves, programmed to replicate every second. I used to take out the physics engines by just abusing lag and SL's lovely server system. You could clip through walls if you abused lag enough - made it very fun and very easy to get anywhere and annoy the gently caress out of almost anyone. I even found a way to 'glitch' between servers that were protected against this kind of stuff with 'no build mode' turned on (that is to say, nobody could spawn objects in an area) by simply gliding back and forth between different areas and abusing the microcosm of lag I got in-transfer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hysmkHPtcYo&feature=related Skip to about 3:40, you can get an idea of what some of the stuff looked and sounded like. And what's more, using a custom client (created by some other griefing community, the same one that made this video), a proxy (tor) and vidalia, you were mostly unbannable. Only your accounts were bannable, and often they were only temporarily banned - combination of idiot admins and other such bullshit. I haven't done it in years but I still grin like a maniac when I remember how much fun I used to have breaking the entire game (which people invested real life money into ofc) over my knee with a sickening crack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvIO1P3BMt8 Here's a tutorial explaining the 'spengbeb' cube. Basically it's a wobbling piece of poo poo with spengbeb on the side that flies at the nearest person, assaults their ears with that gigantic screaming black guy - I don't know his name but he's often accompanied by Ghost love score. e: the sound is called bigben.wav e2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfsTBGIiUF8&feature=related for a demonstration of it loaded into some gun GaryOak fucked around with this message at 19:56 on Aug 14, 2011 |
