I'm also wondering about the centers of the seats. How does that red and black section hold up? It looks like it is made out of stretchy dancing tights in the pictures.

I have an 08.5 and I bought it 3 years ago last week. The seats have held up fine in my opinion. My only concern is I apparently was using the left side bolster with my elbow to get myself outta the car and in turn slightly broke down some foam inside :(

I don't have any input on '10s seats though.

The '10+ seats are good, but not amazing. They're comfortable, but they could bolster more. The cloth section of the seats looks like new, but the leather section on the driver's seat is showing a little wear after 22k miles.

We've gotten chocolate on the cloth section and were able to rub it out easily with a dry napkin. Keep the leather conditioned and it'll be fine.

Awesome. Thanks everyone for the feedback on the seats.

Im exited about the ability to have 6 disc in dash that can play Mp3 discs. That will mean I can have a lot of music with me at once.
And Ill finally have bluetooth connectivity for my phone which is something I really liked playing around with on the 2012 Mazda5. Hopefully the 11 speed3 uses the same set up.

Im assuming with the seats down you can load quite a bit of crap into the hatch correct?

I love the way my mazda5 drives. It doesnt drive like a van, it drives like a little car that turns sharp and always feels connected to the road. Im thinking the speed3 should be that and then some.

The near-flat rear folders are great. I've already gotten a ton of cheap Ikea poo poo in there with no problems. The seatbelts thankfully get out of the way, unlike most cars I've owned.

I believe the bluetooth and CD changer functions the same in the 5 and 3. I actually like the bluetooth a lot more than I was expecting and it's my music option of choice, despite also having the changer loaded with MP3 CDs and an ipod on the aux in. Navigating through discs can be a pain with the changer, but you get track info. It's a trade off.

The manual says that the 3 supports track info over bluetooth with the latest bt revision on the device, but I don't think it works if my googling is to be believed.

I work in the AV install industry and got a 6 ft ladder in the back of my Speed. Also fit 17 boxes of mic's in there as well. I'll see if I can get that pic.

Edit: Found it.

The whole "red attracts police attention" thing is a bs. My car attracts way more bird poo poo than speeding tickets.

Shits since April 2010: ~50 (most after a fresh wash)
Tickets of any kind: 0

Although I did have a close call last Thursday doing triple digits on 95. Laser blocker saved me from that one.

I agree completely. I had a regular 3 in black before I bought this one and god. gently caress black paint, seriously. I would wash it and it'd be dirty 30 minutes later.

And with my Speed, I've thankfully avoided cops most of the time. I think in the three years I've had it, I've gotten two or three tickets - which were my fault (going late to work.) I'm just glad none of them snag me for my tint.

I've got the Beltronics RX75 Plus. Radar detector and laser blocker. I bought it in 2005 on eBay NIB for about $750. I've had it in 4 cars now and just do the install myself. It isn't difficult if you've got some in car electronics experience. The radar antenna is behind the lower grill in the front, just slightly peaking out, and the laser blocker is mounted right to the plate. The kit comes with two front blockers and a single rear blocker, but I just ended up using the rear blocker on the front to ease installation.

There are newer, better blockers out now, but like you said, they're pricey. The best part about it is that there's no guilty box hanging from the front window if I do happen to get pulled over.

Here's my post on MSF w/ pics:

Fun fact for those that are thinking of installing a downpipe.. The turbo/exhaust gasket that mates the downpipe and turbo - if you choose to buy a new one, it's $72 from the dealer and they don't keep them in stock. :saddowns:

Downpipe went in well. Be careful not to strip studs out though..

After the install, I idle a little higher. I checked with my AP today after driving home and it was sitting around 930-960 rpms (a/c off) and dropped to 887-926 (a/c on.) It used to be around 750-850 rpms with a/c on.

Any ideas?

I flashed to Stage 2+93 with my AP the same day, but did not disconnect the battery. I figured flashing was similar since it was overwriting the ecu? Or am I wrong?

I was just looking at the interior shots of the 2012 and I do like the move from red to blue/white on the gauges and screens in the Skyactiv, and the use of more metal trim around the cabin. Might pick up those trim pieces for my 2011 as time goes on.

The Mazda site was super slow to put up any details on the 2012 for whatever reason. Mine was on the truck way before they even had an update showing they existed.
From what I can tell, and Im not the best source as I didnt get to sit in a 2011 for very long, the following changed interior wise:

-Speedo ring color is red and white now. Some say it looks pink. Looks fine to me.
-Most of the text on the displays is white now and I think it use to be more red
-6 Disc is gone
-The center console trim is no longer silver and is now just black in color.
-Chicken Pox pieces on the dash are now silver.
-Yellow Blind Spot Monitor icons are in the mirrors now.
-Disable BSM button next to the disable Traction Control and Diable Auto Leveling Headlights buttons.
-Added some leather bits to the emergency brake.

Ill turn every thing on tonight and take some pics.

Yes it is. That was probably one of the biggest smile moments I had the first time I realized the new car could do that.
Im on a Droid X and as long as I use the Stock Android music player, it displays all the track, artist, and album info on that little GPS screen.

Only limitation I have so far is I do my music more by FOLDERS instead of by Artist, Album, or song. The 3rd party apps Ive found on the Android market that allow sort by folders dont send the IDE info over bluetooth for whatever reason. :( So Each time I try to use one of those programs, I get UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN on the little screen. Sucks, but Ive gotten over it. Im sure eventually someone will figure out how to do it as the stock Droid X app seems to do it just fine.

On some of the forums Ive heard belly aching about the new white color scheme on the text. I like it as it seems a lot easier to read.

Just wanted to comment that my weathertechs showed up as well. I was kicking myself for spending as much as I did on them, but now that I got them installed I think they are going to work out and will be amazing.

I'm really happy I spent the money on my weathertech mats for my first gen. The rears fit great, and it's easier to clean when inconsiderate people don't kick the dust/dirt off their shoes.

The only "bad" thing is that the passenger side front mat doesn't have a hook to hold it in place so it will slide forward, and I think SynMoo warned me about that. Not a big deal.

Franco Caution

Fronts are awesome. Back is just the best. I know at some point my daughter will challenge me by spilling something back there. Weathertech Mats and I will scoff at her.

I want to email Weathertech Man and ask if he can spend next month's two page magazine advertisement money on R&D for a 5 Door Cargo Liner instead :(
They have one for the 4 door but not the 5 :(

I'm gonna ask this question again since the thread appears to be more active. Does someone make a mount, or would there be a good way to fabricate a mount to hold a fire extinguisher in the MS3? I've seen brackets that mount a fire extinguisher to the passenger seat rails of a Miata that still allow the seat to be moved forward/back, but I haven't found anything saying that these would also fit our cars.
