xzzy posted:R1 is pretty sweet too. Maple Valley, Infineon, and Bernese are all transformed by those cars. The best track for R1 is the Nurburgring, because so many corners can be taken flat-out in those cars there, despite none of them seeming like they should be able to. It takes a lot of balls and some practice to do that track in R1 without horribly crashing on some of those flat-out corners, but goddamn is it a rush when you do it. I haven't tried Bernie's Alps yet, but it sounds pretty fun. I know what I'm doing when I get home today.

You come up on the sweeper, thinking there's no way you can keep your foot mashed down. But you do it anyways, and sure enough it works. Then that left hander that dips into the downhill comes up on you, and you think again there's no loving way this is gonna work. But you do it anyways.. and the car cuts into the corner, keeps tracking closer and closer to that fence.. and just when you're about to hit it, the fence pulls away and you can't believe you just took that corner at 180 miles an hour. The s-curves near the end of the lap are amazing too. Again, you can take it flat out.

Falken posted:Thanks for gifting me the livery, what do you think of the car? It's fantastic if you drive smoothly and keep it planted, but it gets slippery in the corners very easily. You play with a wheel right? I suspect it's a lot easier to drive it fast with the sort of smooth, precise input you get from a wheel rather than a pad. Also I keep upsetting the car by countersteering too much when it slides, it seems to behave better if I take it easy. I think it would probably benefit from a healthy serving of front and rear downforce. It's very agile and as T1g4h discovered it pulls hard on the straights . I think we were about even in wins after 5 or 6 races. Oh and it's wonderful for drifting if you're into that sort of thing! Want to try your hand at a 4WD? I have an Evo VI that's probably going to get a WRC livery. Alternately, I still plan to paint more DTM cars (E30s and 190Es) and I'd be interested to see how your tunes stack up against mine

Alright, just shelled out for 6 months of gold and the season pass. I suck at driving with a controller and want to lose to goons. Which club should I join for casual racing? I only get to put in a few hours a week at best, so my garage is a Ford Ka and a BMW 2002 Turbo at the moment.

Get rid of the Ka and get a Datsun 510 instead and you have all the cars you need.

Honestly the best thing for you to do is friend a few people in each club, then bug them if they are doing private races. SAEG is the only open club right now, but they are moon-people, so the schedule might conflict.

The MS wireless seems to be the least likely to destroy people's ears with explosions of static. Most people get along just fine with the stock xbox headset too, but they break pretty easily. Buying a cheap cell phone headset seems to invite all kinds of fun problems, usually revolving around people yelling at you to make the pain stop.

^^^ I'm digging those stick on fender vents Still working on my Datto livery. Redid the numbers to a more 8-bit style, tweaked and added some more sponsors, and right now i'm debating on wheel color. Can't decide between keeping them yellow, or blacking them out. Either one matches the paintscheme, just not sure which I like better.

Anyone with a Fanatec wheel having problems with the ABS? I can't get mine to turn off-I have ABS off in-game, and ABS off on the wheel (also tried turning it down to the lowest setting besides off on the wheel) yet I can still mash the pedal and the wheels won't lock-up. Thoughts? Also, I would love to get down on this Datsun racing, either the 510 series you guys are running, or whatever Sunday Punch had in mind. Details? GT-Turb0snail

Thoughts? The ABS settting on the wheel is just a threshold percentage for when you want the brake pedal in the clubsport pedals to rumble... e.g. 80 on the LED screen means that at 80% braking application, the brake pedal and wheel rim will shudder from your locking up the brakes. It's independent of the actual game/driving and is simply an external effect to help you judge when ABS is about to kick in. If you are having too little braking force, there is a knob on the clubsport pedals that you can turn to increase/decrease the sensitivity. I keep mine so that a full pressure depress/a panicbrake jab only give me about 75% total braking force in the in-game telemetry.

Just had a super close B class race with the SAEG guys on the Nurburg GP track. I could have won it too but then I decided to push it too far on the last corner causing myself to go into a dangerous slide. As I was recovering I fell from 1st to 4th Totally boss race, SAEG is the best grüppen. e: also, this is definitely the furthest I have gone on two wheels without tipping the car over. I had it balanced like that until I hit the kerb on the next corner which righted my car and let me carry on. Jarf fucked around with this message at 00:36 on Nov 1, 2011 |

What's the trick to not only causing a backfire but catching it in a photo? I can kinda get my '65 Mustang to do it reliably, and I KNOW I had two solid backfires in the barn bridge on Maple Valley, but god drat catching them on film is tricky as poo poo since they seem to be randomized in replays.

How's that old Toyota do? It looks sweet as hell but I don't think I can justify the forzabucks on it quite yet, when there are still Ferraris for me to buy.
