Mother of God, it's like a 911 and a 280Z got together and had a baby. I think I like it! Where do I get one?

New toys for the 96 NA, Picked up a M2 single diagonal HDHC roll bar, 1999 NB sport wheels and a short shifter for $410. Craigslist gold?

Mezmerized Machine posted:So I'm doing the clutch on my '96 here soon, and I'm thinking about a lightweight flywheel. Any opinions, stories, or ideas? It's worth it. I have the 10lb flywheel from Flyin Miata on my car and while the performance gains are minimal the overall driving experience is much improved, enough to justify the price imo. The improved throttle response will make it pretty sporty. Put Fortune Auto 500 coilovers on my car last night. 8 in the front, 6 in the rear, 5 clicks off full soft. Pretty bouncy but I imagine a lot of that will go away in a week or so. Overall cornering is much improved over the bilsteins, which surprised me. Shock curve is a little digressive, noticable in the car, but not fantastic. Overall, for ~$1100 or so, not a bad coilover setup for the price. Hey guys, please I'm going to test drive some cars next weekend and I need to know if I should get this Miata: http://www.reganis.com/autocenter/show.aspx?vid=1836208 or this Mustang: http://www.reganis.com/autocenter/show.aspx?vid=1925469 What I mean is: which car will get me laid more?

V8 mustang. It's not like you can gently caress in the backseat of them anyways.

Damnit, brake warning light on the dash, low fluid in the MC, a wet back wheel. Time for a pair of new rear callipers!

Did you check the brake line? I've had that go where it connects to the caliper on my 91, but it was on the front. Fairly cheap and easy if it is.

Yeah - I was right near the specialist in town so popped in there to get it up on a ramp. I was looking for an excuse to replace them anyway as the last time I did pads I stripped two fresh new handbrake adjustery thingies.

Basically, I wanna use my bank for financing which with them means I have to use approved dealers, and the max I wanna spend is like 17-18k (max). And my bank will only do their special low interest financing on 2004 and newer. So I'm in a predicament and I like the miata, so I thought I'd get ya'lls opinion. edit: I need the car for daily driving and looking like the yuppie I am. Well one thing is I'm sure the miata costs something like 20% as much as the mustang in insurance. I'd just get an s2000 at that price point, I dunno. You can also maybe check out an 04/05 mazdaspeed if one is available near you. Or like a decent WRX would make a cool daily driver, but I don't know what they go for these days or if women like them or not (probably not). NCs are good cars but my brain just doesn't get the concept of an 'expensive' Miata.
|
# ? Nov 21, 2011 04:52 |
|
Mazdaspeed Miata would probably be the worst choice seeing how the NC has more HP and not a joke for a turbo.
|
# ? Nov 21, 2011 04:58 |
|
But the MS bilstein setup is 'pretty okay', and very much preferable to the NC's desperately hilarious body roll. Not a bad trade-off for like 5 horsepower or whatever.
|
# ? Nov 21, 2011 05:12 |
|
Oh yeah, I completely forgot that the NC's suspension is completely untouchable. You can't even change out the shocks for Koni yellows or anything.

# ? Nov 21, 2011 05:15 |

Yeah they put too much loctite on it.
|
# ? Nov 21, 2011 05:23 |

I'd take an NC over a V6 automatic Mustang or a Mazdaspeed Miata. Having not ever driven one; I've heard the Mazdaspeeds are really neutered, and that the 500RPM redline reduction is surprisingly noticeable in acceleration.

I'm not the best choice to defend the MSM because I am pretty apathetic to them and am very aware you can do a lot better for the money. Although, the valve cover is really nice looking.

any miata is going to have a higher resale value than a v6 mustang, so take that into account if you don't plan on keeping the car forever

My 75 fiat spider might not survive the whole winter and it's getting cold. To make things even more complicated I live in the middle of bumfuck Nebraska so my choices are pretty limited. I could probably get the three hours to Denver but it might be the last drive my fiat ever makes. I'll do some research on your suggestions and post more no-knowledge jibjab if I find anything. Found the dyno sheet for my turbo NA. Looks like I overlooked a HUGE item... the sheet says GT2554 not GT2560. Crap. Not looking forward to getting home and finding out it has the small turbo. That being said, looks pretty healthy. 12psi.

# ? Nov 22, 2011 14:57 |

Those are some really healthy numbers for a GT2554, are you sure it isn't a 2560? 2554 usually drop off a lot more near redline.

Alright so I'm 95% sure it's time for a new battery, as it's getting harder and harder to start in the morning when it's cold out. I've been reading about AGM batteries and whatnot, and outside of not wanting to pay out the nose for one it seems like they're not as good at cold starting. What are my other options, and what should I be concerned about?
