There was an ad for the Veloster on XBox Live that said "Veloster: Engineered for Forza Motorsport 4" or something like that, so it seems to be more than just a rumor.

I've been playing Forza 4 more and more now without any driving aids, and have gotten really good with R1 cars. Setting faster lap times then I did with ABS and TC enabled. This is with a gamepad, so I won't ever be able to compete with the fastest players, but I can do well and not make mistakes. With no driving aids enabled, the driving model feels really good. In Gran Turismo 5, your car would just decide for no reason at all to spin you, it was completely terrible and unrealistic to play that without aids.

Maybe some endurance racing Turn 10?

A lot of it comes down to Turn-10 being able to get permission to barrow someones car and scan it. They probably have to take whatever they can get.

It's not like you asking your neighbor to lend you his Ford pickup for a run to Home Depot. I am sure money and advertising rights change hands. Given how huge the Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsports series audiences are, I am sure most manufacturers are more than happy to work with Polyphony Digital/Turn 10 to get more of their models into the games. It'd be nice to get an inside look at how the decisions are made for DLC. They probably have a good-sized collection of vehicles that are in beta stages of completion and they have to decide which to pour resources into to get them to the quality level required for release. I bet you Turn 10 is sitting on a pretty good asset pool at the moment, given their workflow (model and texture at the highest quality possible, reduce for release to provide future-proofing of their library). Most cars added in DLC are new cars. I'd love for certain cars to be added, like the Z31 300zx and the FB RX-7 (having owned and adored them both), but a new performance-minded car like the Veloster is a much surer bet than 30 year old sports cars, no matter how cool old cars may be. It's mostly about marketing; if you were Mazda, for example, would you rather give Turn 10 a 30 year old RX-7 or a new Mazdaspeed 3 to add to the game? poo poo, rotary-engined sports cars as a whole will be dead next year (which is a gigantic loving shame). It's a no-brainer. I do agree that they need to bring back endurance racing. I cannot understand why they removed it in the first place.

I think they removed the endurance races from the game is because no one (or very few people) WANTED to do them for the career mode, and since you can set up your own endurance races as a private lobby, you're all set.

I don't really miss the endurance races (since after 3 or 4 laps you're hotlapping by yourself), but I am sad they removed the Super Lap Days.

I would have preferred less races but give all the races more laps. 3 laps isn't enough to get into your groove.

Falken posted:I would have preferred less races but give all the races more laps. 3 laps isn't enough to get into your groove. It is simply not enough to race. It's enough to get in front by outclassing the competition with an overpowered car (or easy AI), or to bumpercar yourself up there in a car more in line with the rest of the field. But it's not enough to have a real race where you work for and set up 4,5,6 or more proper passing maneuvers.

3 laps is barely enough to get the tires warm. I understand people want short races to make it easier to grind through the event list, but I think a much better decision would have been to cut the number of events in half, and double lap counts.

# ? Nov 26, 2011 17:39 |

I've done over 60% of the Events List and am pretty much finished with it now. Now I just do multiplayer with other players, or setup my own races against the A.I., and pick the tracks I want and set the laps for about 7 laps on hard A.I. with no assists. Everyonce in a while i'll do more laps. The multiplayer is a dream come true for me, it offers everything i've wanted for customization.

It is funny because a lot of people complained about the longer races in 2 and 3. Most of the time you end up out in the lead and its a 6 lap time trial. I see it both ways i guess, and prefer the shorter races because online provides better competition and thats when more laps is needed. Of course this is all IMO.

VikingSkull posted:I keep everything shut off except auto trans. The feel of getting your car tuned to the limit and having oversteer available in a controllable way really helps lap times. It definitely feels better with the driving aids off but I wish there was a more adjustable range, right now with TCS and ABS on a high powered car you can either turn it on and it's almost impossible to slide out the back of the car or skid through a turn, or turn it off so with R3+ cars you're always within a few millimeters of throttle travel to wrecking your car (at least with the xbox controller). I'm pretty sure I remember playing Gran Turismo 3 or 4 and having little sliders for each of the options so you could still have some assists without killing your performance, which I think is closer to what those systems do in modern cars anyway. Also, is there any reason in an NA car to choose an aspiration conversion before getting all the engine upgrades? It doesn't seem like the performance rating takes into account turbo lag and by time I've got all the engine tuning upgrades adding a turbo gives my car so much power it's kind of pointless.

# ? Nov 27, 2011 02:52 |

Yes, the Gran Turismo games have those settings, and I wish they were in Forza. With ABS and TC both set between 1 - 3 in GT5, the driving felt pretty good in any car.

I always left ABS and TCS (for high power cars) in GT5 cause the tire sound were absolutely SHITTTTTTY. That's 90% of my cues for tire slip issues in FM4.
