The End posted:Made the horrible mistake of wandering into the official forums and learned two things: The official forums are terrible and filled with people who don't know what they are talking about. And it's not even that really, it's that people on there for whatever reason go out of their way to make poo poo up and lie. It's the weirdest thing, but everyone from new members, to the mods even, make poo poo up. I've seen the mods claim that turn-10 has given them all of this insider information, or they would claim that turn-10 was going to tell us something on a certain date, on the forums, and then it never happens. I'm completely baffled by the way that forum works.

Official forums in general are a great way to shave several IQ points off your total. Nothing good has ever come out of an official forum, ever. I can't fathom why companies still bother to run them.

I'm having the weirdest loving bug. I can't start the Kaido hillclimb. The car just freerevs, but won't move. With both auto and manual transmissions too. Yet it worked the other day? If you're on the controller, I dunno what to tell you. Is anyone else really frustrated with the update on the wheels? At first I thought it was more realistic, and my mediocre driving was becoming more apparent. But as I play, I get the sneaking suspicion that the rear ends shouldn't be coming out so easily and recovering from a slide is drat near impossible, even when I catch it early.

Kachunkachunk posted:As with all front-engined cars, braking while turning can be disastrous because of the weight transition to the front axles under braking. Your rear end is going to slide the gently caress out, so you need to power out of it and accelerate (not what you'd be inclined to do, and you might just understeer to death anyway). Depends on the drivetrain. A FWD car may actually require you to shift the weight forward to avoid understeer. But really, it is all about balance.

You can get the Escort into such a beautiful drift just feathering the brakes. And then you can hold that thing farther than I thought the game engine would allow you to collect points for. One time I swear I was beyond 90 degrees and still collecting, and I still felt perfectly in control. Incredible. Trying to actually drive it in a straight line at that speed? Much harder.

We need to have a race with all the engine(no swaps/awd), suspension and drive line upgrades upgrades and on stock tyres. Its just balls to the wall fun and would make for some amazing corner battles. Stays straight on the straights and you can get some magnificent Scandinavian flicks happening.

I envision the Lard Nerdrage Collider would be a great alternative to the expensive project being run by CERN. Fuelled by hot pockets, Cheetos and Mountain Dew, it would be far more energy efficient than the gigawatt-sapping particle accelerator. The world has a plentiful supply of naively clueless racing sim fans, and their biased, misguided arguments is not in short supply. This means affordable and easily accessible replacement parts. Combine that with the nerd conglomerate's natural ability to generate petabytes of useless information, daily, and a preprogrammed rule that a CP violation is something you want to leave to the experts, it's a near-perfect replacement. In fact, the only problem this project would encounter is if Polyphony Digital released a good game. On time.
