I thought it odd I had no club messages or rival reccomendations, my guess is that when it sorts itself out I'll get all my stuff re-sent to me. :)

Forza 5 needs to steal the screenshot and video uploading features of Halo Reach. That is by far the best system from any console game i've seen to date. So much easier and faster than FM4s.

That and longer video lengths. Halo Reach can render up to 2 minutes and does it through their own servers, so you don't have to tie up your Xbox 360. You just upload the section of the replay that you want, to the website. I believe its a paid service though for clips over 30 seconds, but I would have no issue with that since I take a lot of screenshots and use the video upload service in FM4 quite a bit.

Didn't Forza 2 have a replay track where you could have it switch camera angles at set time or did I just invent that?

Somewhere along the line after 2 came out (and everyone hated the replay angles) Dan stated that they disliked the results also, but freer/more realistic cams tended to expose holes in the world's geometry and other visual flaws, so they're restricted to angles where the game looks right.

They have improved somewhat from 2/3. Maybe that'll be one of the main points of improvement of a next gen build, there's certainly a lot of replay enthusiasts after the way GT trained us all to enjoy them.

Earlier I was playing some Forza. Well, I got an invite on IRC so I fired up my Xbox manually, popped in the Forza disc (after having played DiRT3) and then switched on the wheel.
I noticed that I'd left a controller plugged in, so when I started Forza it said my profile was already signed in. I forced a sign out and then used the wheel (since it was on controller port 2) to sign in.

After signing in I went to the guide menu and accepted the invite I'd been sent, which was followed by the usual "select save device" rigmarole.

The reason I'm detailing exactly what I did?

Because in the three races I had, after all of the above, I had a very different steering experience to what I've had before. The wheel was in 450-degree mode and my inputs on the wheel were 1:1 with what was going on in the game. I had to actually cross hands when taking hairpin bends, and even regular bends on the tracks required significantly more steering input. It was perfectly linear and extremely smooth - I didn't spin out and could easily dial in opposite lock.

A huge contrast compared to the weird sensitivity/mapping when playing with the wheel all other times. I switched off and tried replicating this, to no avail. I'll try again tomorrow to see if I have any luck.

Has anybody else experienced this?

It would probably be on a traditional course to get more action and fun. I plan on having a separate Xbox to do the replay camera of my car to get a better shot of the action. Which leads me to this question:

I have the new Xbox slim, would I be able to use a traditional 360 as a second monitor? Or do they have to be the same type and styles of Xboxes?

I was chatting with a friend about my plan and he mentioned he has a friend at the Joilet Speedway that owns a garage, complete with living room, kitchen, simpit and race gear. That's good value. For my birthday I did one of those WRX experiences. $260 for 6 laps round a dirt track. Its heaps of fun but yeah its over in like 10 minutes.

I'd gladly pay $100 to drive a supercar for an hour.

You will fit just fine. I'm 6'2", and fit into a Countach and a Murcielago, so you should have no worries about a Gallardo, at least you will have normal doors :)

Don't expect limo-style room, it is an Italian supercar, but you will fit.

Enjoy the experience, and we will want a report. The noise is the best thing about a Lambo, and I say that without belittling the rest of the car. Nothing short of an F1 car sounds as good as a Lambo at redline.

And I can authoritatively say this, having spent many hours with the Lambo's V10 linked to my right foot. It has an outrageous bellow that's great for scaring kids and old people, but the Lexus (and Carrera GT) V10 has an intoxicating howl that makes it far nicer to listen to. Well, to me.

Do a google search for Fanatec 900 degree glitch or something like that and you will find the method to reproduce it. It is 1:1 however the reason for that is that in this mode the xbox is fooled into thinking you are using an MS wheel so it takes 270 degrees and streches it out to whatever rotation you have your wheel set at. End result is that you need to use alot more steering input than is realistic to make even simple turns, at 450 degrees you should never need to hand over hand steer and at 900 degrees its even worse.

There was a video of an F40 Competizione a few years back, some dude unloading everything it had to offer on some track somewhere. It was the most testical rattling noise I'd ever heard. :allears:

The video disappeared.. there's still some F40 videos up but none of them are "the one" that I heard. Every once in a while I try to find it and come up empty. It is my quest to hear it again.

Oh, and the Velostar is loving awesome. Just thought I would throw that out there. It is like a modern civic hatchback. That being said, what the gently caress was up with that autovista? "This is the new Hyundai Velostar. It is made by Hyundai and is based off of rally experience. Excuse me." *Next two minutes are filled with the narrator sucking off some rally driver.*

The sound in this game is great. Brutal and raw without being overdone and arcadey sounding.

There are few greater visceral pleasures to be had in video gaming than driving from cockpit view a Maserati 300 S up the back straight at Lemans or Nurburgring at full chat with the amp at 11, your speakers blaring pure engine note awesomeness. The length of the gears in stock format are what really seal the deal for me, endless acceleration crescendo forever, until you lose the courage to keep your foot in for fear of another 170 mph sweeper on 60 year old bias-ply tires...
