I'm torn on Redban. On the one hand, he is annoying as poo poo and acts like a petulant child when he doesn't get his way. He talks too fast when he gets excited and trips all over his own ADD, which is also annoying.

But he's also scolded far too much by Joe lately. Whereas a few months back Joe would laugh and poke fun at him whenever he had some bonehead idea and would make it like something he did on purpose, you know, good-naturedly, as of late he gets seriously angry and calls Brian some mean-spirited and personal things. Really calls him out on being uninformed and childish. It gets to be so bad I'm shifting uncomfortably in my car driving to work. Joe tries way too hard to look cool and open-minded to his guests, I sort of miss when they were a team and not Joe inviting one of the cool kids over and shunning Brian.

Often times he's just being silly or playing Devil's Advocate to hippie talk and thinks it's funny, he's not trying to gently caress things up. Joe acts like he's ruining The Great Podcast of our time by being a stoner and throwing in his Olive Garden joke.

Just listened to the new podcast with Daniele Bolelli, who seems like a really interesting guy, but Joe Rogan is way too stoned (I know, not saying much, but seriously) to work up any cohesive dialogue and it was frustrating and outright uncomfortable to listen to. Joe's constant child-like wonderment at the most mundane things (again, I know, but seriously) broke the flow, and half the time it was like he couldn't think of poo poo to say so would just say "wow man, isn't like, poo poo amazing?". What a waste of an articulate guest.

Since the first episode in January (plus a few select back episodes), so I'm not cultured by any means, but apart from that Hamilton Morris episode, that's as stoned as I've heard him.

Redban committing to telling the story of him smoking the fluro orange moth poo poo was pretty funny. Joe got a kick out of it.

Schumer was the first full JRE i've heard (Previously only listened to Dane Cook's spiel on Twittergate, and that REALLY stupid pornstar/Iliza Schlesenger). I liked it enough, but I don't think the podcast's format is for me. I'm too much of a comedy nerd-the LA VS NY and Dice Clay poo poo was great, the road stories were great, but I could not have given less of a poo poo about fake tits.

That being said, Amy was great, and she should make her own podcast (even if someone apparently has to teach her how).

I can't be the only one who thinks Sam Harris is a loving wanker, right? I wasn't sure until I heard the podcast and gently caress, he was a worse guest than "honey honey". Get Bolelli and Bert back on ASAP.

Usually I love when Joe and co. go "deep" but that guy just annoyed the hell out of me. I don't even necessarily disagree with what I heard him say, just his very mannerisms and speech made hims sound like such a tool to me. One of the few podcasts that I could only stand about half of, if that.

He had a rough start because the writers really didn't know what his character would be, but they found their stride later on in the season and there were definitely some really good episode in S5, but every single episode kind of had that tinge of sadness to it :(

People are under a lot of stress, Bradley.
Newsradio is a good show and and worth checking out further - it's definitely better than most 90s sitcoms. Dave Foley and Phil Hartman are both great, and Stephen Root's character is hilarious.

Also, the Greg Fitzsimmons episode of the podcast was enjoyable. I didn't realize he and Joe went so far back, it was nice hearing them talk about starting out together.

I don't mean to sound like a dickweed, but I used to go to raves a lot and the general consensus is that deadmau5 is a sellout and a loser. I never subscribed to those ideas, he makes good music, and I figured I would probably try to make as much money as I could too in his position, so who was I to judge him? But listening to the podcast made me lose what respect I might have had. He has the single most ignorant view of mind-altering drugs I've ever heard. Considering his success being due largely in part to people dropping E or smoking weed and going to raves to listen to him, it blew me away that he has this mindset that his music is "above that" and that you "don't need those things to enjoy his music like some other music out there" because it's so technical or advanced or whatever the gently caress he thinks. Not to get all :joerogan: but the afformentioned drugs make virtually any and all music better, hands down. They stimulate the mind in such a way that it's like observing the music with a different sense or something. Or maybe you're just hosed up. Point is, he's the last artist who can say he's above that poo poo, and he just came across as totally condescending.

People who create the music are not the people who consume it. When he creates his music he doesn't necessarily have a drug using audience in mind, though that may be who tends to listen to it.
Drugs may make music better from a listening standpoint, but to some just the act of listening to good music is enough to feel high. I prefer my music sober.

I've been enjoying the different variety of guests lately. I guess what I like the most is the influx of non-stoner comics (Fitzsimmons, Gaffigan...even if I do enjoy Joe's circle of stoners), and non-new age pseudo-science guests such as Paxton. I wasn't sure how well Gaffigan would vibe with Joe, but it was pretty hilarious right from the start.
