The Joan Jett part is good, but my favorites are Wild Wild West x Tonto, and Telephone x whichever Ratatat song that is.

Also, echoing sentiments that the new album is great. I'd say the two above are are my favorites as well along with The Outfield x Miike Snow.

What's the name of the song they use with Shots on Like A Bau5? I know it from somewhere, but I can't figure it out.

I'm working on a new mashup album, I know there is a bunch of overused songs that every other mashup artist has used and even I'm gulity of using some of them. What are some songs you're sick and tired of hearing in mashups? I'm going to make one track that uses nothing but those tracks, a mega cliched track if you will, just to get it done and over with. Off the top of my head Jackson 5 - ABC Soulja Boy - Crank Dat Rick Ross - Hustling Guns n Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine Kids - MGMT Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is most biggie acapellas Smells Like Teen Spirit Also what are some (non overused) songs you would like to hear mashed up?

Put some Death Grips in it. They offer the stems for all their songs, so it will be easy to use. Actually mashing it though would be another story. http://thirdworlds.net/blackgoogle.php This is what they sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Orlbo9WkZ2E I attempted it myself, but I don't know anything about mashups, music software, or theory. http://soundcloud.com/alexendl/wish-i-knew Harminoff fucked around with this message at 01:48 on Mar 3, 2012 |

Overused: Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams, Blur - Song 2, Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit, anything by Adele Underused: Various EDM trance and house tracks that might be made better with good vocals. Here's a trance + house mashup (that admittedly had the vocals already in the original house track): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs-qSkRrOKo

It works and I like it, but a part of me just can't get into it because it takes away from what Biggie is saying with the Ghostbusters theme behind it. I definitely liked the track you posted earlier though. Maybe I'm analyzing mashups too seriously.

minato posted:Overused: Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams, Blur - Song 2, Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit, anything by Adele How did you JUST tell me about this thread tonight? Honestly.... Its been going on since 2008!?!? How did i miss this? Im so sorry. Anyway, Id like to disagree just a little here. Overused- Yes those named above but also, Deadmau5- Ghosts, New Order- Blue Monday, Avicii- Levels. I'll quote Adrian directly ""Barbra Streisand" by Duck Sauce" is the "Blue Monday" of the new decade. Hell, so is Avicii's "Levels," come to think of it." http://dl.dropbox.com/u/737785/Blue%20Level%20Babs%20(AplusD%20Made%20Me%20Do%20It%20Mash).mp3 And underused..... sigh, the thing is, there are good ways to mashup with EDM stuff, but EVERYBODY just reuses the same stuff over and over again. If I hear another DeadMau5 mashup Im going to scream. And I like Avicii's stuff, but people seriously need to stop using Levels and bring in his other stuff. Two of my favorite mashups in the last few months have used Penguin. And thats ignoring the Leona Lewis track which is also awesome and I think should totally count as a mashup. Im going to say the best underused stuff would be pop songs from the 60s. There was a great Monkees mashups tonight that made me realize how little we hear stuff from the Beatles. Ill read the whole thread when Im not recovering from a night at Bootie SF. But for now, I'll say that if you like mashups and want to hear more amazing stuff, here are the guys to check out: A plus D DjsFromMars Lobsterdust TITUS JONES Earworm Dan Mei and Marc Johnce Mashup Germany And after hearing this tonight, DJ Schmolli http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn5IroG7iiY And now Im going to go to sleep. I could talk about mashups all night.

Knives and Hot Dust posted:Maybe you know this but there is also the Grey album and it's pretty good as well. This has been one of my favorite albums for years to the point where I prefer it over The Black Album, and I love Jay-Z. There's just something about the Grey Album that just brings two of my favorite artists together in such a perfect way that I can't help but love everything about it. I've heard other mashups involving The Beatles and other artists I enjoy - one involving Wu Tang comes to mind - but they don't even come close to what The Grey Album is. It has is flaws, of course, but I find them easy to overlook. One of my favorite things about it is that I can get people who don't care for Jay-Z, but love The Beatles to enjoy it, and vice versa, and I think that's where I find the true success of the comes into play.

Here is another mashup I made, I can't find the vocals for niggas in paris anywhere so I tried my best to EQ them but it still sounds kinda bad. I'm likely just gonna scrap it.

Tokit I've been enjoying your mashups. They show promise, i looking forward to hearing more as they are released. Yacht Club DJs for the Australian goons, announced a tour for their most recent mix. The mix and tour dates are found here - http://musicfeeds.com.au/yacht-club-djs/ I'm going to grab a ticket for the Melbourne show if they are still available. I honestly haven't given it a solid listening to, but so far I've been digging it. edit: Yacht Club DJs are giving away their mix its not SassyCommander fucked around with this message at 10:58 on Mar 13, 2012 |
