Reading this thread, it blows my mind that people listen to Bryan Alvarez when having problems with him that are more than just his voice.

Maybe it's because I've lived my entire life with a nasally nerd voice but that kind of thing doesn't really bother me much.

He does sound similar to David Cross as many have mentioned. I am not annoyed by his voice at all.

Listened to the Smart Wrestling Fan podcast for the first time last week, and I gotta say, I enjoyed it. Gotta break up the listening over a few days, but that's okay. Was well worth the time investment.

On the topic of SWF, Dshban, are your co-hosts completely incapable of thinking, or are they just pretending to be stupid? Joe seems to have no concept of how to structure an argument, and he is even worse at understanding anything you say. It is getting exceedingly annoying to listen to him ramble on about the Rock when he then has no idea what he is talking about. Does he just not understand the concept of a metaphor? I pretty much listen to the show for your opinions on things, since you are the only one with decent ones. Otherwise you have a host who can't think, a drunk who does not know how to spell culminate or pronounce eviscerate, and a poet who can't read.

We're not really trying to be a bastion of journalism and breaking news, luckily. Joe's arguments are odd sometimes, certainly. I often feel as frustrated as you must. I don't know what's going on there. Larry I understand because he does drink quite a bit during the show so by Raw he's repeating himself and stumbling over things - but then I get to be the grammar nazi, which is fun. And Baddie is good, as they say. He's doing a lot of poetry stuff out and about at the moment which I feel means he's getting better on the show, the few times he can make it at the moment (since he's the only one with a normal job).

"Speaking of lucha, Steve Sims and I will be joined by Konnan on Figure Four Daily next week." Why is this important? Why do you want to listen to a midcard WCW geek? Because he is one of the biggest Mexican stars in history, a tremendous interview and incredibly charismatic. It'll be great. Also, he is a no bullshit kinda guy. And he's funny. Just listen.

It's WrestleMania season! A time when we look back at the years gone by and remember some of the greatest moments in professional wrestling. Or, if you're the Punchsport Podcast, WrestleMania IX. Punchsport Podcast: WrestleMania IX Starring: The Goog, HulkaMatt, Captain Charisma, Kung Fu Grip, Grody Join us as we suffer through one of the most notoriously awful shows in WWF history. There are togas! Bullshit finishes! Elephants! Title changes! Botches! And worst of all: Tatanka! We strongly encourage those of you who don't have access to WM9 on DVD to watch the show along with us; not only will you understand why we randomly gasp or laugh, it'll make the occasional ten seconds of dead air that much more passable. I've left the show up as a playlist in my Synchtube room, or you can watch it on YouTube via these links: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Don't start the show right away! There's a cue in the podcast! I did my best to minimize the amount of shifting you'll need to do to keep up with us, but there were a couple of times where we had to stop the recording. HulkaMatt and I both try to let people know when to switch to the next part.

Another of Meltzer's Masterful Metaphors: Watching the ROH main event was like having to eat 16 ice cream cones at once. The only shame is that we didn't get Bryan's promised metaphor. Konnan won't let him off like that, that's for drat sure.

And on the other foot, Dave's rant on the Canadian Medical Association thinking MMA was incredibly stupid. You can't take a sport where the refs and doctors are afraid to stop the match because of fan backlash and not consider that more dangerous than other combat sports.

If I started a podcast and did interviews more regularly? Also, how best do I go about getting people to see it? At the moment I am going to post it on Twitter, Reddit, Sherdog, The Underground. Any tips on this front?

I dunno if anyone else hear has listened to the Justin Shapiroshow (http://www.thecubsfan.com/tag/justin-shapiro/) but he has a pretty interesting theory that kind of relates to this. The newer generation of wrestlers (people who started after the attitude era and got their start through the indy scene or modern WWE developmental) are generally better as "real people" than the previous generation before them, who were for the most part a bunch of sociopathic carnys. This may be better for all of the wrestlers personally, but it may not make for a better wrestling product. Now not everyone fits that stereotype (Mick Foley, CM Punk) but I tend to agree with him.

People tend to tune out when some random dude comes out of nowhere trying to sell them on something. If you do a good job and are consistent about doing updates, eventually people will like it and word of mouth should spread.
