Well, it's currently 9:25pm. I unplugged my phone from its charger yesterday morning at 8:45am and it's right now at 4% with no charging in between and pretty regular usage. To say I'm very satisfied with this Razr Maxx is putting it mildly. I love this phone

If your issue is "it's not an iphone," you shouldn't buy any android at all. I've had a GNEX since launch and it has been flawless. I ran it on stock software unrooted for one month, rooted for one month, and since a few weeks ago have tried about 3 different roms. I came from a very reliable phone (HTC Droid Incredible) and the GNEX is on par with it as far as stability and surpasses it 4 fold as far as performance.

Yeah I have a nexus as well and It's been working flawlessly for me. The battery was kinda annoying, but I tweaked some settings and installed a custom rom and it's great now. I love woofi.

I got these three text messages last night at like 11:30 PM, all three in rapid succession. What the hell is this, and did I just get a $10 charge slammed onto my bill? I replied with "STOP" but now I'm worried that was some kind of acknowledgement and made it even more likely that they'd charge me. Can *611 or someone in a store tell me anything more about whether a charge will come my way, or do I need to wait until my bill cycle?

If I'm sitting at my desk in my office I'll have three bars of 4g, and 10 minutes later I'll look down and either have zero service or 3g service only. So I rooted, tried the 4.0.4 radios out there but they weren't great in my area. Both the 4.02 and 4.04 radios had the same connectivity issues. The 4.0.3 radios weren't worth trying for more than 2 hours in my area. NO matter what I do, where I'm doing it, or what time of the day it is, my phone drops 4g signal a few times per day (or hour), kicks over to 3g signal, and I have to turn it on airplane mode or restart it to kick it over to 4g again. I have tried different roms, a different sim card, no dice. This is a known issue. The first phone I got wasn't able to charge the battery. No worries. However the phone rebooted twice in the 4 hours I had it. This phone also reboots on the stock rom, but not as often. This is a known issue. The second phone, above the 4g connectivity issues, every time I make a call I have awful quality compared to my Incredible 1, Inc 2, Droid 1, Blackberry Bold, etc, etc, etc,. The first one this happened as well but not as bad. The screen on my first one was great. This new one has huge banding, etc. They both were noticeable when I turn the brightness down. Yes, there is nothing you can really do about it as it's the screen type, but the first one I had that couldn't hold a charge was much, much better looking. I may have gotten two bum units, but I'm not alone and I'm just not going to waste my time anymore. I have a real job now, I love rooting and love how awesome the Nexus concept is, but I'm not going to wait to see if 4.0.5 fixes the issues when my 14 day return window is coming up. I need a phone that works when my customers call. I need to be able to have my emails pushed to me and not worry if the phone lost data connectivity like it has before. Maybe if 4.0.5 fixes everything, I'll buy another off Craigslist, but right now I can't afford to hold onto the phone. mrchina fucked around with this message at 18:57 on Mar 24, 2012 |

I had the same issues that mrchina had up until flashing 4.0.4. It really is sad how slow updates are for this phone when the issues it has are pretty serious. Remember most people are ignorant on rooting and flashing roms, so the Nexus has to be pretty disappointing to a lot of people with 4.0.2s extremely terrible radios. Also even with 4.0.4 the battery life is atrocious. This is supposed to be a phone that just works....and so far it hasn't meet that criteria. Having said all the negative stuff, I do really enjoy ICS and its a really awesome device and hopefully 4.0.5 is the magical cure to everything including battery life.

I'm kinda sick of the Galaxy Nexus cheerleading when its clear that they do have issues. Just because you haven't had any issues doesn't mean that they don't exist, and makes you no better than XDA twerps who claim that their ~FR4GALiciOUS~~ ROM is rock solid stable because their phone hasn't crashed in two hours.

It's funny how some people justify the phone by going "You've just had bad units so far! Keep exchanging it until you get a good one!" Uh what? gently caress that. One bad phone is ok...two is pushing it and anything above that if I were in my return period I would return that poo poo ASAP.

When I had my Thunderbolt the 4G was spotty as gently caress for the first two months while Verizon was rolling it out everywhere. After that, it definitely became more stable and reliable. Installing a handful of ROMs on my Thunderbolt got me to a good, stable Daily Driver that on the extended battery could idle for a really long time; with use the battery drained faster than I wanted but it was still enough to give me juice throughout the whole day without charging. On the stock HTC battery I couldn't do a god drat thing without having to be near a charger. That's a serious deal breaker for phones, and that should be universally unacceptable. If you can't even use your phone as a phone without having to take a break to charge, then something isn't right. That's something that literally zero people should put up with. My girlfriend had an OG Droid until recently and went through 3 of them over the 2 years or so that she had it. One replacement was due to a cracked screen, the other two were battery problems. I read some stuff online about a dying battery in the droid being the reason for ghosting and sporadic lag in apps. She switched to a Bionic before the Razr Maxx came out and got the extended battery for it right away. She's not too happy that my phone is what she wanted all along but wasn't available when she needed it. I've said in here before, I believe, that my razr maxx IS rooted and I have a custom ROM running on it. I don't know what the performance or battery life is on stock at all because as soon as it was activated, I rooted and swapped ROMs. I absolutely will not deal with a Verizon phone that has all of their lovely bloatware running without the option to uninstall it. I traded it in for a Droid Razr MAXX which has worked flawlessly. It has an Ice Cream Sandwich planned if that's a factor for you.

Connection issues in general, RF on this phone is not as good as any of the other 4G phones, couldn't call out in a low signal area that others worked fine. Weird crosshatching pattern in the screen, most noticeable on white/light colors. Audio glitches when running google music and various other apps at the same time, most noticeably cardiotrainer. Really, really poor Bluetooth performance. My Moto BT headsets would constantly have dropouts with the phone in my pocket. Piss poor performance on many games that ran fine on the GTab, Xyboard, Rezound, Razr and Spectrum. Marginal Battery life. At the store level, I seem most of the returns we get on them are for the 4G issues, but even then, it's not selling terribly well to begin with. My anecdotal experience with our 2 GNs has been great. I flashed CM in the first few days and it has been pretty flawless. I had one day where I lost data connectivity completely, and simply just re flashed to fix it. My wife's phone has literally had zero issues. Both screens look great, both have decent battery life. I feel bad for the people who received bad eggs, because I've never been so happy with a device.

Before I return the galaxy nexus and get the RAZR Maxx, anyone have inside information on the Droid Fighter? If the fighter is coming out in two or so weeks, it'll be worth the wait.

It isn't perfect, but its screen, (stock) software advantages, and superior official and community support still mean I'd recommend it over the Razr Maxx.

Don't know why you wouldn't just use the Gmail app (unless you have more than one email) but you have to manually enable IMAP/POP in gmail for it to work with 3rd party apps/clients.

I have a family plan (two phones, no data) and I'm looking to replace one of the phones. I don't think I want to get a new contract (do I?). Verizon store says I have a fifty dollar credit but all of the phones cost at least $100 and I've seen the same phone on Amazon for $0.01 but it was a little unclear if that was for existing contracts. Am I better off going to Best Buy or Amazon or something? I don't trust the Verizon store at all, just want to know what my options are.

If you don't want to be locked into another 2 years with the same carrier you don't need to sign another one and just keep paying month by month. The advantage to the contract is that places like Amazon, BB, etc offer discounted prices on phones. Usually you can find many used phones for the same price as NEW about 6-12 months after they are released.

Is there an easy way to port my number to Google Voice for full integration under Verizon? I've heard of a twenty dollar fee to keep my number and such but I'm wondering if it will affect my contract in general. I am on a family plan with unlimited data so I would like to maintain those as they are right now.
