Vintage car chat: I would roll down the windows on my 64' VW when on the highway to reduce the push I experienced when semi trailers drove past me on the highway (which happened a lot because I could barely maintain 55 in that car). It didn't help much, old beetles have a lot of things working against them (high ground clearance, low weight, huge cross section) so I got blown around anyways, but it felt like it helped a little.

Have to wonder, how is that any safer than just tailing the vehicle until it runs out of gas or something? Even if you clear the streets, playing bumper cars to try a pit maneuver seems ridiculously dangerous.

Ever since Top Gear made a segment on it a few weeks ago, I've wanted to try rallycross. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much of it going on in the US, and the SCCA events that do take place seem to get very little attention.. I found it impossible to find time or location information that I could use to go and spectate if I wanted to. Failing that, I want to do a 24 Hours of Lemons race someday, the idea of buying a lovely car and going out and racing it is super attractive to me. Maybe after I retire, and I have the free time to drive around the country constantly to get to the next race.

New Community Bounty has been announced: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/5303477.aspx The in-game announcement says it's the Among Giants challenge, but I'm inclined to believe what the thread says about it being the Sachs Kurve Drift challenge in which the bounty greenPandaMeow has yet to set a score although he states in his thread that he isn't very good a drifting, so this me be easier than last weeks challenge. I went ahead and checked the permanent Drift Rivals and he hasn't set a score in any of them so I'm pretty sure this guy never ever drifts. Prize car is a custom liveried Aston Martin Racing DBR9.

So guys. What SA car club shall I join? I'm in the US. Enjoy driving E through A classes mostly, and love doing hijinks but I guess I could probably use pubbies for that. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want to race people who don't exclusively use Boss 429s with AWD conversions and Monster energy drink liveries. Spec Pinto and junk like that looks hilarious and awesome. e: oh yeah, and how do I do it?

Join AUGR. As far as how, add someone who is already in AUGR, then click their name and request to join their club; you could add me if you want, my GT is Cubivore. We're pretty chill, on en masse pretty much every night, and we do a lot of real racing with some dicking around on occasion (usually once or twice a night). Just don't feel too bad if you get hit a few times; a lot of us aren't particularly great, and a lot of us who are fast are still pretty awful at passing (i.e. me).

It's still better than the American Top Gear, a show that nearly makes my eyes melt out of my head. Though the guy tries way too hard to sound like an American Jeremy Clarkson, showing a total lack of the pipes necessary to pull it off.
