Yeah, it was pretty rough. Interior torn up, dirty, suspension bushings shot. And it had a race clutch. And a short shifter. On the upside it had an amazing exhaust. I'm not having any luck finding these generic GTs for near KBB. They're either beat to poo poo or demanding 3x KBB.

Finding unmolested new edge GTs in norcal was tough for me, especially for near KBB. The guy i bought it from was well into his 60s and obviously never drove it hard, i needed a car so i basically gave him his asking price (which was slightly under KBB but he had nice 17" cobra alloys)

I don't know, I wouldn't sell my '98 GT (125k miles) for less than $5000 even if I were desperate. Blue book is $4,841, but I don't think I could find a replacement in good condition for cheaper than $6-7k. It makes sense that used car prices would be stable or increasing just because of how much longer cars last nowadays. A friend of mine sold his '96 V6 a couple of years ago with 325k miles on it for $1500. Something to look out for in the 96-00 year range: make sure it has the aluminum crossover on the intake manifold. As I recall there was a settlement from Ford because pretty much all of the lovely plastic ones cracked and were a huge hassle to fix. I know mine was, such that every time I see a low coolant warning in a car I get unreasonably upset.

I think Ford was sick of dealing with me by the end. That car made a 9000 mie road trip like two weeks before the first time the manifold started spewing. Scared the poo poo out of me the first time, annoyed me the ext two times.

This is really confusing to me, Edmunds has the value of a loaded 99 GT with 100k miles at around 3k for private party sale. It seems as though 5 minutes of research is showing people have no problem asking double that. I've been shopping for a 7-10 year old Ranger for a while now so I knew prices were high but above KBB is crazy, I had no idea.

These price guides are really only good for 5 year old or newer cars. The data falls apart as you reach end of life pricing. Craiglist also convinces people that they should charge more since it doesn't cost anything to put a crazy high price free ad on the internet and then say I don't check my email and don't bother me with questions, bring cash and no you can't test drive the car.

Agreed, you should probably expect to pay a lot more than Blue Book, but not for something with bad racing mods and a crappy interior. A '67 in awesome condition might be worth $30,000 (or more) and a horrible one might be worth $500. Not that we're talking about classics for 14-year-old cars, but I think that difference in price is starting to widen for that generation. I'm not saying that because I want my '98 to be worth $30k, I just think good condition cars of that generation are becoming harder to find. Looks like the highest price on cars.com in the US is currently $12,000 for a '98 with 52k miles on it. I wouldn't pay that much, but I bet someone will.

I mean sure, maybe someone *MIGHT* buy a guy for 12k but to me personally, it's not worth the sheer number of people who are going to come to your house and make up poo poo wrong with the car trying to get your price down. Maybe I'm weird but I'd rather sell my car in a couple of weeks to someone who isn't a retard than stretch out the process for months in search of a couple of grand. I've sold cars before and it's one of the things I absolutely hate the most. I can't imagine doing paperwork with someone who thinks 12 grand for a 15 year old Mustang is a good investment.

The length is slightly obnoxious and the build quality is not as good, however the LS1 T56 combination definitely makes up for it. I have been looking for one since I sold my GT and found this black on black black at a local dealer. It needs a little work but its nice having something a little more unique than the new edge stang. Also I don't care what anyone says, I love my ridiculous t-tops! This one had the added bonus of being mostly stock aside from a set of ceramic coated long tube headers.

Found a good condition-ish '00 GT for $4500. Then he sold it before I got there. This is frustrating. Edit: And Zeroboy, I'd have paid that for that one.

Don't forget about "Cash for Clunkers" when looking at the used car market. That program removed a whole lot of supply from the used car market right as the economy was collapsing and more people were looking to buy a used car instead of a new one. You've all taken an Econ 101 class and understand what happens to prices when supply drops and demand rises.

I have an 01 with 22,000 miles. Honestly my car is in more than mint condition. Everything wrong with it gets corrected (in fact its going to the shop next week or so for a cocked up subframe) When I say corrected, I also mean it gets the best name brand parts to replace anything that is broken. I hardly ever go with stock replacements. Taking into the fact that my car has mods, its depreciated the overall value of the vehicle. I can honestly say the car is in the $10k range. I am not looking to sell it. However if someone offered me $17,000 that would be the minimum I would consider to let it go.

My dad rocks a 1994 cobra pace car that in really great shape with 59k miles, I know he wouldn't entertain anything less than 20k. He just loves his car and takes very good care of it, and to him its worth that, and if someone every wants it bad enough it'll be worth what they pay, that's just how it is sometimes. He has no intention of selling ever. He's had it since I think 99 or 00.

My cousin has 5.0 with corsa xtreme and heartthrob x pipe. paid like $900 and doesnt drone at all and is loud as gently caress. Well, the Magnaflow got installed today. 45 minutes under the car, and it could have been quicker but I am stubborn and tried to remove the first muffler without removing the hanger bracket. Note: It's quicker and easier to just remove the loving bracket.  Impressions: Loud, but not as loud as I expected. No drone at 65mph (could be due to the longer 6th gear on the Shelby vs the GT). Below 2k RPM it's almost as quiet as stock, but at 3-6k it's monstrous sounding. I will be keeping these on. Anyone in the marked for stock GT500 mufflers with only 3k miles?

I might have been successful if I had sprayed lubricant on the hangers first, though. I was able to reinstall the old mufflers without touching the bracket (though bending the cat-back pipe enough to get the inner rear hanger on while holding the muffler up is a pain). I'm interested in your stock mufflers (supposedly more throaty and slightly louder than the GT mufflers). PM me with details.
