They're changing things like socks and pants to offer more padding and what not. The explanation I was given was that Reebok basically just used a tube sock. Nike has some form fitted stuff with padding in certain places and more support etc.

Seems that while Reebok is definitely being shrewd, they're only doing what they've been licensed by the NFL to do. I don't think it serves any purpose other than to dissuade Reebok from pushing their license date on the manufacturing side. A week down the road, Reebok jerseys are still going to be sold at retail locations. I work in healthcare, though, so what do I know. vv smuggler fucked around with this message at 16:24 on Mar 31, 2012 |

I am actually impressed that we are a couple of days away from the jerseys being released and the only leak we've seen is a cell phone shot of the Jags jerseys. That is impressive to me.

It's hard to speak without seeing the contract yadda yadda yadda it'll amount to Reebok getting a slap on the wrist and a stop-sale and no damages. Reebok prima facie technically did have the right to make and distribute this product, they just shouldn't have because they should've known what effect it would've had on Nike's ability to conduct their new contract. It's a non-issue. Disclaimer: American legislation is not my forte and I've never studied the Lanham Act.

Definitely anxious to see the new Seattle jerseys. Could this be real? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1126431-seattle-seahawks-new-uniforms-to-be-unveiledor-perhaps-re-revealed The numbering and overall style resembles Oregon's, but I still dig it. No problems with the current, mono-blue jerseys, but the grey pants look awesome. Mike Williams seems to approve of whatever the real jersey is (from his twitter page) quote:The uniforms are icccccee cold tho 12s.. Esp the alternates quote:id put the alternates up against ANY uniform in ANY league

A week down the road, Reebok jerseys are still going to be sold at retail locations. It's not really a Lanham Act question -- probably more of a contract interpretation question. Basically, Reebok is going to try to pump out a bunch of Jets jerseys so they can get the initial impact of TEBOWMANIA but Nike wants to get an injunction or gum up that process for the last week so they get the right to cash in on TEBOWMANIA . Stores should be ambivalent because Nike can't sue stores for buying Tebow jerseys from Reebok while Reebok had the right to make them. Without reading the contract, it just looks like Nike is trying to make Reebok hesitant to pump out as many jerseys as they can while a court is reviewing the case. Nike will argue some half-rear end thing like the contract only contemplated Tebow Denver jerseys or some BS.

I'm guessing Nike would argue they own the rights to 2012 season stuff (hence a Jets Tebow jersey being theirs) while Reebok is probably going off some specific date like "2012 season doesn't start until draft day/training camp/whatever in April" and just milking what they have left until then.

I haven't looked at the contracts either but perhaps there's some kind of issue involving a separate contract with the NFLPA that expires/expired before the general NFL one did, so that legally Reebok can't print new Tebow Jets jerseys but are allowed to continue selling the old Broncos ones they already made.

That's basically what Deadspin reported the other day. The Reebok deal with the NFL hasn't actually expired yet, but the one with the NFLPA expired a few weeks ago or something.

This article makes it much more clearquote:Nike and Reebok, two of the largest players in the sports gear industry, are embroiled in an unholy spat over who gets to make and sell products featuring the name of newly minted New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. Judge granted a temporary injunction, so Nike is being smart by preventing Reebok from making tons of Tebow Jets jerseys right. While Reebok may have a license to use NFL trademarks, there must be a separate agreement re: player names or specifically Tebow (maybe still through the NFL?) that expired.

Looks like the Bengals are losing the tiger and making the B the primary logo. The field and most of the apparel have the B now instead of the tiger head/body. I like it. To me the stripes themselves are more iconic for the Bengals than the actual tiger. There are tons of tiger teams but the Bengals are the only ones who use the stripes in the actual uniform that I can think of.

Put it on the field sure, but shirts and hats and things people actually wear in public should at least look decent. That said I don't think I've worn a piece of NFL apparel aside from going to games in a few years, so maybe it doesn't even matter for me.

Yeah, there was no way in hell I was paying 60 dollars for screenprinting. If it had been an embroidered patch type thing, I may have gotten it. That yours is fading after less than two years confirms my apprehension about the purchase.
