G2BG2. Your crazy antics in the old F3 GTCC thread made me turn off the drat suggested line and start racing with goons. Though I'm new, in a relative sense to the legends of G2, and am a little too much of a "serious racer" to ever be considered for the lofty status of a G2'er, I will occasionally trade some paint with Frago or FaxPiss. Whenever this happens I think to myself, "Yes, this is what it's all about, attempting to race clean and hard, spectacularly failing to do so, and limping around in what's left of this spec featuring cars of epic ridiculosity and awesomeness."

Then I wreck Phancy's poo poo and get curb-stomped for interfering with the pizza-condom conglomeration that is G2 racing.

Never change, G2. Never change.

So I went online and played 3 races last night before I got accepted into AUGR. By then it was too late and I had to be up by 4am.

The races with pubbies was good, 16 player races in A class. I was using the Sagaris for the first race and then used the Z06 Bette for the rest. I'm able to stay in the top 3 position but due to racing on tracks I skip in single player I eventually made mistakes and finished in the top half every time.

One thing I've noticed is if you slow down and avoid the first turn mess, you're pretty much promised a top 5 slot for turn 2.

I think it's slightly exaggerated with his legs up on the tires, but you can still see especially when he's turning hard that he can't see anything.

Also: Being in a club with friends who won't put in the effort to post specs is maddening after seeing so much awesome goonspec racing. "...okay everybody back out and build a car I guess". :argh:

Well you can see if you look at the side-view of the car that there's nowhere for Britney's legs to go because the keel is right in front of his rear end. His feet have to end up over by the suspension arms, and that's way up in the sky. It's freaky.

It's made worse by all the antennae they have along the monocoque between the driver and the nose of the car. The drivers just look past them as if they were never there, haha.

Sorry all. Lemons Project car edition for Goon Spec is basically find a project car for between 10 and 20 grand, and make it do a lap around new le mons in the target lap time with a) a 10% grip restriction, and b) with your choice of 0, 30, 45, or 60% power handicaps.

example cars:

Could be worse. I read a street-car-guy's review of a Champ Car (I think it was in Motor Trend, back in the early '90s when Champ Car was relevant), and when they were stuffing the author into the car the crew chief put his hand on the cowl and asked the author how many fingers he could see. Apparently the ideal seating position in a Champ car you can't see directly ahead at all, really. The only important part is the corners so you can see for passing. I guess the spotter tells you when you're coming up behind somebody.

I watched a newer episode of top gear the other night. Lotus offers an almost formula 1 car plus the team, transport and ex f1 driving coach and workout instructor.

Similar to the Ferrari Fxx setup.

Its basically an F1 that caps the rpm at 10,500 instead of 19,000 or whatever.

I suggest a course other than Le Mans for the LeMons race. Something like Indianapolis infield or Laguna Seca, like the IRL Lemons races.

As for the trucks, that sounds just as fun as the event list/career mode truck races. As in not very at all. (no offense)

Does anyone else think that 20 grand is a bit high for the cap? I am finding top end cars for 20K. (My understanding is that Lemons is for lovely cars that the drivers have stripped more out of to reduce their value.

Edit: Wow, just found two mint condition Jaguar E-types for under 20K.

Also, I found my car.

When he's laying on the tires it looks like his feet are up over his line of sight, his eyes are just above the steering wheel, so by slight exaggeration I mean a few millimeters of sight as opposed to feet being higher than line of sight. Still absolutely terrifying. And that means that the acceleration Gs these guys endure are almost perfectly aimed in the negative direction with the legs elevated so blood is flowing away from the feet anyway. This must be a completely surreal feeling.

Here's some amateur paint jobs because a couple of my favorite cars deserved custom skins. First up, a rather balling ride if I do say so myself.

My very favorite whip always deserved a fantasy sponsor treatment, prototype stage.

This is from when I tried to interest my friends' club in getting spec racing going, so I made up a hot little prototype model and tuned it and put a Powerthirst sticker on it and nobody cares so here's some love for the unloved:

In the meantime, and if you cant wait to get your thumbs around the virtual Viper, there's also an official TopGear Car Pack, available from early may, including more Yank muscle in the form of the Hennessey Venom.

I'm a bit aggrieved that I have to buy cars costing millions and millions of credits to complete these though, e.g. the 50's classics races and the Classic Ferrari set.

I know it's not real money and it's only a game (1st World problems anyone?) but is there a way to complete these races on the cheap?

Go on, ask me what else I am going to spend the credits on and why it bothers me. I can't answer, I don't know, but I've been doing well so far using cars I already own or the cheapest cars with the lowest class I can get away with, I suppose subconciously I want to race AND make a profit!
