I can only hope that there are semi-trucks to drive that can store other cars in it and deploy them like KnightRider. Oh and horns and pedestrians.

I never got any of the expansions so it was just F40 vs. 959, but that was great enough. Seeing that screenshot of Forza Horizon made me think of those old C64 Test Drive games. I hope there's a good mountain road to wind up. EDIT: It may not mean anything, but on Forzacentral's "Forza Horizon" section, Badned has a locked vehicle list thread started, stating the thread will open June 4. Loved the European Challenge course with the Supercars. If Forza Horizon is anything similar I'll be very happy, always loved the long highway drive feel of those games. Test Drive Unlimited just didn't quite capture it. Also loved playing the sister game to those back in the day, Grand Prix Circuit.

I liked how they used the Road & Track acceleration graph, and made it obsolete. Suddenly, the car were quick enough to make the right side of the graph blank, as the acceleration curve went nearly straight up on the left side.

Wednesday night's GTCC racing was pretty rough for me. I'm out of practice, and I suck at fast FWD cars. I decided to drive a FWD Focus in A class, and it didn't go quite as well as I had hoped... and once we got to Maple Valley, this happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRYMkfI0PCk Great times were had, as usual, but drat it was a rough night of racing for me. Now that school's out I should be able to challenge the podium. EDIT: I was getting some moderate engine/drivetrain/brake/suspension damage from all of these voyages into the inverted driving positions - nothing too serious - but I don't understand why my body panels weren't destroyed. Maybe it's just the replay system loving with me. The Science Goy fucked around with this message at 07:59 on May 18, 2012 |

Hey, don't hate on me for your poor driving I wish I saved the replay, but someone rolled me on Suzuka. Got spun and went sideways into sticky grass. All in all I thought it was pretty fun, but will probably change the spec a bit if we decided to do something like this again.

As far as I know, that's a case of people being Chicken Littles. Turn 10 said, 'Hey, we're going to give you special events and hoppers for these cars since you're paying extra for them', and people interpreted that to mean you can't use them in standard events/hoppers because people on the internet are loving stupid. I'll be shocked if that is actually the case.

I wonder how they're gonna deal with the car models. Will one of the porsches be free so everyone can get the assets installed, or is there going to be a legion of black Jettas suddenly crowding all the race tracks?

I never played Forza 3 but kind of want to do some endurance races and there aren't any of those in Forza 4. Is picking up a used copy of Forza 3 worth it? Like, is it going to feel like the same game, or is it dated now and not nearly as good?
|
# ? May 18, 2012 17:18 |

The driving model will feel a bit dated.. once you lose grip in FM3 it tends to stay lost until you come to a complete stop. Visually it will be about the same. If you want longer races in FM4, set up a multiplayer game with a bunch of AI cars. You can go up to 50 laps on any track you please. No pauses or rewinding though.

xzzy posted:The driving model will feel a bit dated.. once you lose grip in FM3 it tends to stay lost until you come to a complete stop. I've really been trying hard to not rely on the rewind much anyway and I wouldn't be able to pause in a real endurance race anyway so it's worth a try. Would there be any benefit to picking up Forza 3 for any other reason, like different tracks/cars (keeping in mind i'm gonna be a chump and buy the 911 GT3... i mean Porsche pack the second it's available)

About the only thing worth having from Forza 3 that isn't in 4 is the full Positano track, and maybe the New York track for laughs. FM3 was really good, but if you already have FM4 I wouldn't bother.

Wow. It really is the Porsche 911 pack. At this point, if there's a 917 and a 928, I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'm skipping the endless parade of 911s. Guys, they're great, they're iconic, but there are so many great Porsches that aren't 911s or 911 derivatives. I understand there's been seven generations, so I can get on board with having a bunch of 911s -- maybe even half the pack -- but this is getting to be bullshit.
