Eh, Rogan is just open to information. You've gotta admit what he posted is fishy. It's not like he's hopping on this bandwagon and making a birther site or anything, jesus people. Chill out on the poo poo talking.

God drat Dice got insufferable really quick. The whole "People don't think they can be shocked any more but check this out: I'm going to talk about women who are sexhavers!" thing was hilarious but in the sense that he is an out of touch old man now.

Exactly my feelings on him, that's why I had to turn it off after 30 mins. Though since my first post on it people have said he was kinda in character or something (who or what I don't know) so I'm not sure what to think, other than it doesn't make enjoyable listening.

Ari Shaffir Skeptic Tank with Ralphie May was really interesting. the part where he's talking about the nurse comes in and says "Oh poo poo" and he starts laughing, and she asks why he's laughing, and he says "Because your the first person to come in and not say "Oh gently caress"

At this point, I think that replacing Redban with somebody who's less of a dweeb would take away a lot of the show's charm.

The very idea that some of you think Redban brings something to the show is mind-boggling to me. He literally doesn't know how to form a sentence, interjects with the stupidest shticky topic that doesn't relate at all to anything, and thinks it's clever and funny to add 'butthole' to searches and feels like Olive Garden is the pinnacle of humor.

I came to chime in about how much redban sucks. I listen to one out of maybe every 10 episodes and jesus is he terrible. The funny thing is I just read the first two pages of the thread and half the posts were bitching about redban then I skipped to this page and .... well.. same story. Rogan must realize he is bad for the show, but he is friends with him and would feel too bad sacking him since hes been there for so long. I think he would even feel bad demoting him to a non-speaking engineer role, but really redban's role could be filled by so many better people, names or not. He has so many bad character flaws that make for a really obnoxious on air personality. I listen a lot for the MMA aspect of the show and was so glad he didnt say a word during Chael's 3 hours. e-ahahha just saw the post above me, we basically share the same sentiments.

I'm of the opinion that Redban is a "love to hate" character that people don't consciously realise they appreciate, and that his removal would leave a gaping goatse-like void that could only be filled with a similar 4chan-esque personality to complete the bitter-sweetness that makes the Rogan Podcast. I believe he's an effective lightning rod that attracts the angst that would otherwise be directed at Rogan, a character who's often as infuriating as Redban. If Redban wasn't part of the podcast, this thread would shrivel. Face it, hating him is half the fun.

I know the great thing to do is to bitch about JRE (I've done it a lot too) but I'd like to mention that I really like the filmed post-podcast videos they put on Vimeo. Very relaxed and natural. And I kinda like the wide lens look to them, and Redban doesn't talk much. Joe's habit of not looking people in the eyes when he speaks to them kind of annoys me for whatever reason, thogh http://vimeo.com/search?q=joe+rogan+blog

The new Shane Smith podcast was amazing. I also needed to grab a drink right after work from being reminded how hosed up the world is. I also had no idea Mitt Romney's dad was from Mexico and lived on a polygamist Mormon colony or that they are now fighting the drug cartels

Yeah, Shane Smith was awesome as always. It says a lot when the guy days without sleep, drunk, coughing constantly, and still one of the best guests. I like how he doesn't ever really buy into or fuel any conspiracy stuff that Joe brings up and asks him to confirm or deny. He just kind of chuckles, pauses and says "I don't know, man" but not in a condescending way. Cromulent fucked around with this message at 03:10 on May 30, 2012 |

When the guest is as interesting as Shane Smith I'd rather hear all new poo poo from him. It's probably because Rogan was having to do ALL the legwork. I felt Shane Smith couldn't be hosed (which, given his physical state, isn't surprising) and that every conversation attempt from Rogan was met with something non-committal that couldn't really be taken anywhere, which left Rogan thrashing about and having to fill the empty space. The "yeahs...." and "I don't know mans" weren't particularly conducive to a free flowing podcast, but it's interesting to see a positive slant put on them a few posts above.

indoflaven posted:As boneheaded as Brian is, don't we all have "that" friend? I'm certainly not surrounded by wine and cheese connoisseurs. I'm listening to the latest Joe/Brian episode, and there's a typical "can hardly form a coherent thought" Brian moment. They're talking about how the porn industry is going under because it's so easy to make your own now, and how radio stations are failing because it's easy to start your own podcast. A legitimate subject. And then Brian follows it up with "Or like with music, like before you could only get what was in stores and stuff like that, but now you could get a band where the singer and guitarist are dead and it's just a drummer, like, whatever your fetish is." He said that with no hint of irony or humor. What the gently caress does that even mean?

I didn't listen/watch but it sounds like he might've been referencing the Tupac "hologram," not that that would make any more sense given the prior conversation. But that's beside the point, people have mentioned a few times that everyone has that friend like Brian. Yeah, I did, and I stopped loving hanging out with him because he was an annoying little poo poo who would constantly interrupt conversations with inane awkward bullshit and have blow ups and hold grudges for the pettiest things with all my other friends(much like the whole Trussel debacle.)
