You know with each of uu's pesterlogs he's sounding more and more like Karkat, to the point that the above theory of the latter loving up his ectobiology session and creating both (?) of them almost makes sense. Maybe being an unwaveringly arrogant dumbass about time shenanigans just runs in the family. Doesn't really explain UU, though.

uu is Karkat who really does hate everyone and everything, rather than just putting on airs. It makes uu much less amusing and much more creepy.

UU is Karkat who loves everyone and everything, and is either too self-conscious or too nice to go on rambling, over-the-top rants. Strangely this also makes her a bit creepy.

Both of them are basically failed, partial Karkats. Neither is as great as the original.

Analysis like this really makes me believe the whole 'UU/uu is a parody of fan characters' idea. Literally every fan troll is a really bad version of an actual troll.

uu is actually growing on me now. Remember how Equius seemed at first before we got to know him? And this line is just amazing:

My current working theory with uu and UU is that they're the same person, as we're all expecting, but they have two seperate dreamselves. This fits with what we already know - sollux had two dreamselves so it's definitely possible.

What happens when someone with a split personality has two dreamselves? One would be awake when the other is asleep, so while UU is chilling on prospit as her dreamself, uu is inhabiting the shared body. And when he falls asleep, he wakes up on derse and UU takes over the shared body.

It's complicated as gently caress i know, but it would explain how they can be one person but still have two different bodies and blood colours etc - one dreamself has red blood and the other lime

Since we know trolls are genderless, it wouldn't pose too much of an issue for the real body - when inhabited by uu it would identify as male, and with UU it would be female, but the distinction would be entirely meaningless.

This creates more questions than it answers, but the thing i like about homestuck is that you can create any insane theory you want and it has a decent chance of later becoming true (see the 'roxy and dirk are living in the post apocalyptic future' theory)

I like this idea. It'll be a mess when God-Tiers get involved, unless they both happen to Rise at the same time, but it could work and it would be pretty interesting to see.

If they are actually lovely ectoclones of Karkat, maybe he can go god-tier with their dreamselves.

Oh man, I saw this topic about a month and a half or two months ago, and saw it said it was the final acts. I never read anything on the site, started with Homestruck until it got to the "bookcase" where I went into Problem Sleuth, then the other two after that. And now I caught up with the present, and realized it wasn't as close to the end as I thought.

So now it's time to get used to the regular update "schedule" it seems, and waiting it out. From the pace of reading pages a day. Also, trying to figure out the terminology and all that (I guess I realized I don't know all the character's names and their chat handles as well as I thought when I'm not seeing them in color).

Okay, guys, I'm still obsessing over this line:

quote:

How ironic, that your very demise would be in the proximity of some horses. What? You didn't follow that? Just think it over. Think it over...

We still don't know why that line is ironic. It's not just the "one trick pony" line. I refuse to believe that. Lord English is going to have some weird horse-related origin or weakness. The story is just peppered with them, and they're not all just Equius stuff.

I present to you another proof:

We haven't had a SBaHJ spelling that prophetic since "cloun".

Two things:

Hussie is, once more, parodying Saw in just the most beautiful way.

Two, uu being a huge shipper is giant hilarious and not really what I was expecting at all!

e: secret third thing - it looks like the shared realself, separate dreamselves theory is on point, given uu's plan appears to be to murder UU's dreamself so that he can get an edge in their struggle for control. What a dick!

I was only halfway through the update when a big flashing neon sign with EQUIUS written on it was going off in my head. Funny how shortly ago I complained about the UU's, but this one seems to be proving himself a bit in his emulation of the best male Troll.

And the twist ending was probably the funniest thing I've seen in this comic in forever.

Actually, I guess the potential for Sawtooth makes it twist ending x2 combo combob.

Meanwhile, in the past, Dirk has a pile of rockets. Why does he have a pile of rockets?

aNYWAY,
tHAT'S REALLY ALL THERE IS,
tO REPORT ON THE SUBJECT,
oF ME GETTING HURT,

If I could, there's something I've been wondering about.

What is ultimately the more important, driving narrative purpose of Homestuck, Comedy or Drama? I ask because most stories, even if they have both, are usually one more than the other. When a big moment comes along it'll handle the moment in the primary tone. Homestuck, however, appears to bounce between the two of them.

There's important of Homestuck that would be dark, but are played straight comedy - Bec Noir suddenly and unceremoniously killing Mom and Dad and pawing through their stuff, for example. Other bits are drawn out for their full grim potential, like Tavros weeping and clawing the walls until his fingers bleed. These will both fluctuate between the two, however, like how Mom and Dad's death touched off some genuine emotions with John and Rose. Some scenes blend the two directly, like when Vriska dies and a weeping Nic Cage is faintly overlaid, although even in the blend we're still supposed to feel sad that Vriska had to die.

I guess an example question that sheds a lot of light on this is how you expect Bec Noir to die. Is he going to die to someone with a good reason to go after him? Is it going to be justice, or revenge, or some other meaningful narrative payoff? Or will it be an anticlimax? Or just a big joke, like a pumpkin falls on him or something?

I think part of what makes this question so difficult is that Homestuck is always escalating, always building toward the climax, adding new characters, changing things, discarding what you thought was important as just a stepping stone to what may actually be really important, that it's hard to say what moments are truly supposed to be the big ones - what ones actually matter to treat as important. Even wacky old Problem Sleuth still went for the big finish, in its own way, even if it did so in a comedic and lighthearted manner.

Forgive the rambling, but it's been kicking around for a while and I wanted to try and mumble it out.

He has a pile of rockets sitting next to Sawtooth's dismantled head, because he is arming Sawtooth with a million loving rockets, which he is about to use to save Dirk's rear end in the future-present. Next panel will be Sawtooth's head popping up like a loving Pez dispenser stuffed full of rockets.

Dirk will later be revealed to be the one operating the MSPaint Adventures webcomic that the characters in Homestuck have been accessing from time to time. It's a semi-biographical account of the entire story thus far, written after the comic's story ends, and then sent back in time and across universes for the entertainment of the other characters.
