Can my main pawn read a spell tome, or just my main character?

Boy this game is harsh. Just spent about 20 minutes fighting a cyclops, got him down to a quarter health, only to be two-shot when he went berserk. My healing pawn was still alive, why can't they revive me To be fair my party was only level 7, but still...

So, I just got my main pawn. Are they automatically set to being summonable as soon as I get it? I ask because another friend of mine got his pawn and I can't seem to find it by searching through friend's list. I added my info to the goon doc, but here it is incase someone wants a shiny new mage pawn. Psn: Dawnfire Pawn Name: Azura

This is probably the most fun I ever had playing a mage in a action WRPG. Unlike say, skyrim the spells look and feel powerful and you can actually use them as much as you want without having to watch mp/spell points. If anyone wants a free lovely level 17 mage, add me on XBL, my gamertag is Giggilyom. Also this game owns pretty hard. Just fought my first ogre, it kicked my rear end until it decided to grab the female pawn in my party and jump off a cliff with it.

Can warriors switch between two different two-handed weapons? I mean, can I equip a big hammer and a big sword, and switch between them on the fly? Do the different weapons have different sets of skills set to them? I really would like to have a big hammer to use with certain skills, and then a big sword to use with other ones.

Seems that the amount of Rift Crystals you spend to rent a pawn has nothing to do with how many the owner will receive. Going by that logic, I assume we're still getting rift crystals from renting them out for free to people on our friends list? We should be trying to share the wealth - remember to add other goons from the list and to abuse their pawns. general chaos fucked around with this message at 04:25 on May 23, 2012 |

I just survived my first trip through the forest, just a short half-mile or something between paths, since the curve of the path was littered with too powerful bandits. That was maybe the tensest half-mile hike I have done in a game.

Does the gameplay of the Mage evolve much as you gain skills? I've only been able to play for an hour or so but I'm afraid that this game has really amazing combat but the Mage just seems to slowly charge spells one by one. Does it change at all as the game goes on?

The throwing wires skill for the Strider is amazing. Instantly and reliably floor anything up to and including lizardmen, which is good because lizardmen are a bitch and bandits with two handed weapons are even worse. But the best part is that it can hit multiple targets. The area of effect is relatively small--but occasionally things come together. Like when I went to talk to the leader of the female bandits to find out if she had a magic tome, and she responded by making every bandit in the camp run at me at once. Through a single small doorway. Into a tiny room. Every time I used the wires, I'd tie up at least a half dozen of them, leave them in a pile at my feet, and launch into scarlet kisses and hit every single one of them. Also fun: Pounding grab after doing wires will make your character grab the enemy out of the air. Then you can toss them off a cliff. Because the wires never get blocked or dodged, this is a very reliable kill. Only downside is the wires are useless against monsters, but you get to watch your character tag a fifteen foot tall monster with a bunch of wires and then try ineffectively to pull them over, which is its own reward.

This game is wonderfully dumb. (Policenaut that's your pawn hiding in the back there) I also happened upon a giant cyclops in my travels. I spent a good 5 minutes whittling down its health until it jumped on top of me and killed me instantly. I can tell I'm gonna like this game. I'm just concerned about my affinity with NPCs. With the amount of dumb hilarious stuff you can do to people, I'm going to have a hard time not being a dick to everyone.

I just got this game but haven't played it yet (did play the demo though). I was probably going to play strider. If I got a mage permanent pawn would I regret having to constantly hire a temp tank pawn?

From what everyone's played so far, does it seem worth the current cost? There are a few problems that worry me, but on the whole I think I can deal with most of the things the reviews complained about since the combat looks solid.

If you get a tank permanent pawn will you have to constantly hire a temp mage pawn? If you get a mage pawn you can go two mage without doubling up on healers--this means you can just load your favored baby up with burn everything, shock everything, and freeze everything and leave the hireling mage to fill the chump roll of 'constantly casting heal' which is what they wind up doing--healing takes so long to cast, and so much longer to take effect, and everyone's always running around instead of standing in the heal well, so once the party starts taking damage is usually when mages stop participating in my game. I threw a razor wire net that pulled a harpy out of the sky. Seconds later, another harpy pulled me INTO the sky, and dropped me off a cliff to my death. Game Of The Year.

This game makes the best use of physics in an RPG ever, no contest. I love how, for example, goblins run and jump at you like a human cannonball trying to knock you down. edit: goblin cannonball edit: oh god when you have your sword enchanted with fire and do that grapple move where you wiggle your sword around inside them it sets off firey explosions inside their body. I've been working on an escort quest for the last FOUR HOURS and I'm still enjoying it. Escort quest. Four Hours. Still enjoying it. Oh also, if I choose to play really small so I will be speedy and a hard target, I can use my permanent pawn as a bit of a mule as long as I don't overload him right? I can put things in his inventory other than consumables and stuff I actively equip on him?

How hard to come by are Discipline points (i.e. is this more of a "Carefully Plan your build" sort of game or more of a "Buy random abilities and experiment" sort of game)?

You know how Call of Duty inspired a bunch of clones? Imagine that happened to Baldur's Gate. Now imagine that one of those clones thought sitting through dialogue trees was boring so combat was improved. That's pretty much Dragon's Dogma in a nutshell. For the pawn stuff, like them picking up items instead of fighting, can all be controlled through The Chair. My pawn focuses on picking up fallen comrades and hauling them to me but won't touch items. Also likes to respond harshly to victory, which is weird. When people say they have problems with a pawn it just means that people suck at sitting in chairs.
