Is there anywhere where you can straight up make new equipment rather than just the combining and enhancing? I noticed there was a blacksmith but he seems more interested in saving his dieing son than making me cool swords.

What's the skill breakdown for magic knights? Sword attacks on right bumper and magic spells on left bumper? Do they still wear a shield and can you still slot shield skills on the left bumper?
It's always shield on LB and sword or staff on RB, I think. Though I don't see why you'd use a staff when the shield isn't doing you any good if you're standing back to cast spells.

I guess you can buy skills for both staff and sword and switch between them on the fly.

How bad are the one-shots in general? Usually that sort of thing really pisses me off although I did trudge all the way through Demon's and Dark Souls falling off cliffs many times, but the frustration from one-shots mostly comes down to how quickly I can retry.

If you can load manual saves made from anywhere in the world it wouldn't be so bad, but I've heard completely opposite things about how that works--Can you manually save anywhere and then load from that save so that you don't get 40 minutes into a quest and then have to do it all over again, because one fight at the end one-shotted you and the game never autosaved before then?

I have not yet been one-shotted and I'm level 13ish and just got to Gran Soren. I've fought a few battles where I got my rear end beat nasty (by bandits), but I've never been killed in one hit, so it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I have, however, spent a few hours doing side quests and roaming the countryside killing poo poo so I'm a little over-leveled.

Save all the time. Won a fight? Save. Took a piss? Save. Saw an elf? Save. SAVE SAVE SAVE. If you die you can load from a save or from a checkpoint, so saving all the time makes it easier.

For all the talk about how hard the game is I'm really impressed. It's just tough enough to be fun but not tough enough to make me power bomb my controller.

Except when I get stunlocked by bandits with 2H weapons. gently caress that poo poo.

Current lvl 20ish as an Assassin. Not having Ensnare kind of stinks and I have yet to try out the insta-kill attacks. I'm playing like a Strider pretty much, dagger/short bow so overall things haven't changed much. Sadly the assassin augments are, so far, all based on nighttime. Increased strength while at night, more health while at night, etc etc. For daggers I'm just using Scarlet Kisses, Toss and Trigger, and Cutting Wind. I find them all very effective and it is pretty annoying being limited to only three of these, as some of the others look quite nice as well.

I do have to say though, anyone who has a bow, if you don't have Keen Sight/Lycenean Sight, get it. That thing is pretty much sniper mode and deals sooo much damage. I just snipe entire camps mostly now.

Also, just rode a harpy that dropped me onto the head of a cyclops, who I stabbed until it fell over, then stabbed some more, then got interrupted by DEATH BANDITS, who wrecked my poo poo until the not dead cyclops began wrecking their poo poo. Fun fact, the one-shot attacks big enemies have work just as well on other enemies.

Dungeon stuff There should be a pressure plate somewhere in the ruins. I just did this place and I already forgot exactly what I did, but I think you kill the cyclops in the offering chamber, pick up the altar gem from its corpse, then go back and unlock the door at the beginning with the slot, then I think the pressure plate is at the end of that passage.

Assassin seems pretty tough to play BUT he does get the Sweet Chin Music as an ability so.

Also: After the encampment I gather I was supposed to go back to Cassardis to get a Lost and Found quest for Quina in Witchwood or something? It wasn't really clear which town my pawns were saying I should go to for information so I just figured I'd come back and do it later. By the time I got back, she was gone but I never found anybody to give me the quest?

What's interesting is I gather that these NPCs that you can take on escort missions and such have some sort of affinity/approval meter and are thus probably the romanceable ones. So anyway that's one romance option presumed dead.

Your choices are as follows: A: Man up and go out there. B: Wait in the fort for time to pass. C: Decide to quit this craziness of being The Arisen and settle down with Mercedes to start a family in Shadow Fort.

I finished that Lost & Found quest no problem... Was around level 15 at the time. Eventually... most NPCs will revive or you can find a wakestone and heal her if she doesn't, so yeah...

It's a pretty decent one. They play from a Magic Archer point of view, and a decent ways into the game (level 30). It shows the pawn system, a couple of humanoid and two monster fights, and they talk a little bit about the overall game as well.

Magic archer is a ton of fun as of level 20. Sixfold shot is great for lizards, multi-lock arrow for big monsters, and the flare is great for clearing catacombs. I feel like the one downside is that each arrow skill has an innate element. Kinda sucks when you want to slam a cyclops with 10 fire arrows and they're stuck being holy or whatever.

That sucks. I'm trying to decide between the same two classes.

On the one hand it feels like it would be a shame not to play a mage class in this game given how amazing the spell animations are. But people are saying the long cast times are annoying, among other things, so I'm hesitating.

Assassins look interesting but not as flashy as mages obviously. I played around with Strider in the demo and it seemed ok but I got bored with it quickly. It seems like people just end up spamming scarlet kisses or whatever it's called, which looks like it get's old quickly. One idea would be to make an Assassin and then a mage main pawn. That way you could actually be in the middle of all the action while your mage casts all the large spells. It seems like it would be cool to be crawling all over an ogre, then all of the sudden your mage casts some big ice spike spell on it and you're right there to see it. In some ways you'd have an even better vantage point for the games gorgeous spell effects than if you played a mage. So that's an idea.

I've been watching some of the youtube walkthroughs that are going up to get an idea of what the gameplay is like, especially for the mage, since it wasn't in the demo. Here's the one I'm watching right now.

I haven't come across an Assassin walkthrough yet, but there are a few videos of them around.
