Yeah, all he really needs is some kung-fu training. It wouldn't take much to justify him getting better.

Eren is already one of the best trainees at hand-to-hand fighting, it's just that Annie was the best at it and has a lot more experience with a Titan body.

I do like that the "determination to fight for your friends" angle, which is usually stupid as poo poo, is replaced with absolute hatred brought by a cruel and uncaring world. It gives the fights a lot more character than they would have if he was just getting back up not to lose, or to protect people, or some other boring poo poo.

I dont think martial arts training will do anything to Eren right now while he's in titan form. He seems to blank out and just go primal on whoever he considers the target. Also Mikasa's line that inspired Eren was something Eren said to her when they were kids. Well part of what he said, he went something like "Cruel and beautiful place". I guess there is no more beauty, just cruelty

Nah, even when he is berserk he still uses basic hand to hand skills. He needs to completely internalize martial arts so that he always does it unconsciously. It is something that would make him a better fighter as a titan but not more difficult to put down with 3d gears.

Totally called it: the walls are full of giants, it was the only logical explanation. Or at least, it's what a character thinks: it may turn out to be wrong, but it's logical, and there wasn't a big scene of her explaining why (but I could have done without the monologue...). This is why I loving love this comic

Wow, Zoe is unexpectedly hardcore. The church guys may not be necessarily evil. If they just used the titans to build the walls like Armin assumes and where hiding the truth only to avoid widespread panic. Of course, now it's only a matter of time before some rear end in a top hat goes around making holes in some wall and we get a full wall collapse plus assault of several hundreds of colosal titans. Now we have a group of smallish titans vs the scouting legion and the rookies we haven't seen in some time, so I hope we are getting a rest from all the despair and going for some thrilling but ultimately safe badassness. With some plot twist regarding the direction the titans came from.

I can't imagine how they managed to get that many titans to lay still long enough to build around them. Annie had some control over the titans in the forest, so it could be they've had the ability for a good century. Or, the titans in the wall were man-made titans.

I was impressed that the evil church is apparently not evil. That priest, who we already knew to be a corrupt wanker, a general jerk, and is apparently also a huge drunk, was literally willing to die to preserve the secret of the wall despite his lack of true belief and conviction. Thats impressive. Furthermore, he felt the need to reassure the Scouts that the church had a good reason for keeping this secret, but rather than using that as a chip to save himself, he immediately reaffirmed that he was ready to be killed for it. I wonder what the hell happened to Wall Rose. A wall being brought down offscreen was not something I expected,

TheHan posted:Yeah no these guys are screwed. Like Armin says, they may be there voluntarily. Don't forget, Eren is a titan and is happily helping Humanity survive against the titans by using his titan forum. It's entirely possible that those Titans are humans that became a living wall(using their regeneration powers and whatever) to keep out other titans to save humanity in the same way Eren is. The book even says the walls seem to not have any grooves or grout and are just one solid chunk of stone. Seems pretty plausible to me. The church even uses a ton of wall symbolism in its prayer and preaching. Seems to me like the church knows what the deal is, and is trying to honor the people who sacrificed themselves to be the wall by keeping the memory alive. Thanks. I'm confused - is Wall Rose the one that's already been breached, or did the 2nd wall get breached off screen? That sort of doesn't make sense, since the event happened two days before the Annie incident, and you'd think someone would have heard about it by then.

Nilbop posted:That seems rather unnecessary when you can just ... make new walls. What, spend months or years doing large-scale masonry out in titan-infested territory? Or you could use human-piloted titans to make a wall, getting it done quickly and without interference from non-piloted titans. I always wondered how they could've held the titans at bay long enough to build such massive walls, during the initial titan apocalypse. Now it makes sense! This author seems determined to leave as few plot holes as possible, and that's really cool.

That sort of doesn't make sense, since the event happened two days before the Annie incident, and you'd think someone would have heard about it by then. Remember, they don't have telephones or radios or anything like that. They have to use physical messengers. If everyone at Wall Rose really is dead, then there'd be no way of knowing without sending someone there directly, Rose not sending representatives to meetings, or seeing a horde of titans coming from its direction. And with that many titans coming from Rose's direction, it's unlikely that anybody would make it from Rose to the central district with the news. The walls are also unknown miles apart, and horses are the fastest method of travel. The guy that barged into the meeting was the guy sent from the little outpost, riding the fastest horse they had, and it still took him two days to get back to the central district.
