Might as well. I'll work on one sometime between now and June 8 (threads for new shows that are made more than like a week in advance of the air date never seem to do well).

Anyone have suggestions for a thread title?

I like Mantzoukas and Harris Wittels both for the same reason, which is that they bounce off of Scott so drat well. There aren't that many guests that absolutely bring out the best in Scott.

Personally I felt the TV show was demented and insane and the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. It's also structured fairly well and doesn't go balls out absurd like the way a lot of shows on Adult Swim do (more the cartoons than the live action shows). Can't wait to see more.

Seconding the comparison of the tv episode to a morning kids show, absolutely loved it!

The latest Mantzoukas/Andy Daly episode. In the first half of the episode they talked about... a lot of things, including how dumb it would be to live-tweet a podcast, and why full beavers aren't in fashion anymore, then they conflated the two subjects.

I guess nobody listened to this week's new episode since it's a holiday or whatever. While it's not as good as last weeks it was still very entertaining. Both of Kyle's characters were funny, the second sounded a bit like Andy Daly.

Pretty decent episode. Sarah can be hit or miss for me, but thought she and Kyle were fun together. Still can't get into Professor Blastoff, though.

It took a little bit of getting used to it because the style of the Podcast and the show are so different, but after getting used to it there's something oddly seductive about the weird perspective shifts. There was a moment in the show where they went on a tangent and before it was over I had forgotten about the original setting/plot before the tangent.

That and there's something about Scott Auckerman's sweater/collared shirt combo that really compliments his personality as a host. Not sure why.

Just a heads up that there's a bit of a push to save Best Friends Forever, which airs it's last 2 episodes tomorrow night on NBC. Jessica St Clair is on CBB a fair bit, and there was a Wompler reference in the last episode, and Lennon Parham was on the last Marissa Wompler 'cast back a few weeks ago. They're both super cool and it sucks that the network basically wanted to shitcan their show before the first episode even went out, so be nice to send it out with style.

I literally didn't know about the show until one of them talked about it on either CBB or DLM. I watch some shows on NBC but haven't seen a single ad. NBC really didn't want it to succeed.

Sorry my days are all blurring into one and I thought today was Thursday! Yes, the new episodes are on Friday night. NBC really didn't bother with advertising, so no surprise it didn't get huge numbers. A lot of the humour comes from St Clair/Parham being actual real life friends, and I think people who know them from CBB and other podcasts will probably get more out of it than your average viewer who's never heard of either before. It's just a 'nice' show, and IMO better than the majority of comedy that's aimed at women.

The reference from the last episode was when Jessica was on a date and the following convo gets dropped:

quote:

Keith: You were with someone...
Jessica: Who, Eric Wompler?
Keith: The Womps
Jessica: I was only with Womplestiltskin because he had a pool

Fun drop for people who know Marissa.

Hey if you guys have any favorite CBB moments that are on Youtube and are self-contained (meaning you don't have to be a regular listener or listened to the rest of the ep to understand it) link em to me and I'll probably put them in the CBB tv thread! I'm gonna do the same but I have a bad memory so I can't think of any off the top of my head. :x

I'll work on the thread this weekend, I really want to make it good so we can hopefully draw in new viewers/listeners.

Nice, looks like Mr. Saucerman got a NY Times article written about CBB. God I hope this show does well.

The article slips a small bit of info about an upcoming Earwolf podcast, too:

New York Times posted:

In a forthcoming series called “Nerd Poker,” for instance, comedians are recorded while playing Dungeons & Dragons

I'm guessing Posehn and Oswalt are going to be appearing on that podcast frequently. Between this and the "Mr. Blow" podcast Odenkirk talked about, I think Earwolf is about to have some additional solid podcasts to offer.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Aukerman was on Nerdist a week or so back. It was a pretty good ep, he talked a lot about forming the old CDR live show and stuff. He also talked about the tv show a bit and had nothing but wonderful things to say about IFC. It sounds like a pretty great network.

Yeah, but I wonder how involved it'll be. Like will it be the same people playing the same game for a while? I can't imagine a new group and a new game every week would be anything but a clusterfuck.

Look at me, being a huge nerd. Is this what it's like when people in the DLM thread sperg out about the Leonard Maltin Game?
