Am I just retarded or is the map in this game horrible?

Go to the coast and look for a big colosseum looking building and head there. You basically just hug the coastline.

You should be heading Northeastish. When you arrive at a region full of red stone canyons, you're headed the right way.

So, do anyone have some helpful hints for someone who is entertaining the notion of going Strider->Assassin.

I went Strider->Assassin and it was rough at first, then pretty OK, and then now it's kinda getting rough again. I think the big thing is that as Strider you see all these neat dagger moves and core skills, but I wanted to do Sword + Bow as an Assassin.

Changing equipment midbattle will help alleviate the problems early on (I changed ASAP), but I think Fighter and maybe even Warrior augments might help me be a better Sword Assassin.

Thats what I tried to do :( I got as far as some castle with high winds blowing everywhere but cant actually progress further because the terrain is just a wall with one passage through that is locked. While not as difficult as Dark Souls this game certainly doesnt hand you anything on a plate!

Can we go back to inclinations really quickly? Which have people found to be really useful for which classes?

Which of the attacking ones are good for a sorc or strider? That kind of thing. Luckily if your pawn is useless you can buy those potions at the rift store. Maybe challenger/guardian, then it will go for nuking monsters?

As for ratings, nowadays I will give people 4/4 on battle/helpfulness to be nice, 5/5 if I feel they really did well with my team or I could at least see them healing frantically/murdering mobsters or whatnot. Just checked to see what my pawn got from last night and a few 3/4/5s (with some often battled monsters comment) and someone who gave it 1s for "oft wasted time". Oh no :ohdear:

I had an easier time fighting Four Kings in Dark Souls than just trying to figure out how to get to some locations on the map in this game. Four Kings was a more satisfying challenge though.

Also, is there any reason not to go straight for the advanced/hybrid variety of classes if that's what I want to do? Do I need to stick to the basics for any reason?

It does sound like you took a left when you should have gone right. I think you're at some Manor. If you head back South a bit and then East, through another windy canyon you should be on the right way.

There is also a place to camp up there and let me just say that limping across that, in the dark, on the run from some horrible monster or another, gave me one of the biggest senses of relief I've ever felt in a video game.

Some skills are shared between classes, and all augmentations are. The good augs generally come in the very last ranks of a vocation. Your stats at level up are also determined by your present class. I'd say go ahead and switch if you want to, though. If you find your skillset lacking you can always come back to another.

My buff/healing mage is running Utilitarian and Mendicant, and spends most of his time in fights buffing/effect clearing/booning, and then from time to time one shots chimeras when he gets around to attacking. It's nice because I rarely ever have to use healing items because I'm always getting healed/buffed by him.

Nexus is fantastic on fighter, though, but most of them run Guardian which is unfortunate. Same with Mitigator.

What's the difference between Nexus and Guardian. I must admit the latter seems like the obvious choice on a tank.

So how does a male character speak with Ophis, the bandit queen? Dress like a woman?

Nexus try to assist their fellow pawns. Guardians try and hold your hand all the time, in the sense that even as a secondary inclination Pawns with Guardian will always stand right next to you, often opting not to attack as a result. I'm getting to be pretty staunchly against Guardian entirely. Even archers won't always attack while they're hovering around next to you.

Cross dressing might work, you should try it and report back.

I don't know about guilty but him being judged innocent rewards you with a massive discount at his store. He sells you all his wares at cost, so you can get Ferrystones for 9000 gold.

I know I made sure to do it before escorting the head, but I think in a stream they at least got to go to Gran Soren before it was cancelled.

I just finished investigating the Everfall for the pawn guild and now Quina has moved on and joined a nunnery!?

As far as inclinations go, I must admit I am loving having a team of acquisitors. So much loot, and I'm not having to collect 3/5s of it.

Made the jump from Fighter (After purchasing a few more skills) to Mystic Knight today. Considering that I pretty much literally never used the shield as a fighter to begin with, and the skills I use most are still available for knights, it's almost like I didn't even make a change whatsoever. Which is great, means I'm gaining stuff without having to really relearn my play style. Can't wait to get that shield laser so that I'll actually have a use for the a shield.

Rangers are awful. Their augments are lackluster, their longbow attacks are blah, and there are hardly any longbows to upgrade so I hope you like your reinforced longbow. You'll have it a long time.

Striders are excellent. Ensare + Scarlet/Hundred Kisses will kill most anything, and you have Sixfold Flurry to make your bow shooting decent as well. In addition to this, you are a monster killing machine. Jump on that sucker and spam them Kisses in its weak spot.

I'm glad I did a load of side quests before starting on the story, its made the first set of main quests from that knight far less punishing running fighter/sorc/sorc/mage.

Also fighting big monsters is so much fun in this game I can't believe it. Now I can handle chimera's with ease and cyclops get absolutely destroyed with this set up. Can't wait to go back to magic archer and set myself on fire to climb stuff

Playing a ranger is awesome. You're like an artillery piece. Those cyclops in the water gods den went down really fast to the tenfold flurry, and the Endecad shot is fantastic in dungeons.

The tenfold shot is really great for ogres, too. Hitting them directly in the eyes with one arrow is very hard. With ten in rapid succession? You're almost guaranteed a stun or knockdown, then your warrior pawns can wail on it for a minute without worry.

What happens in 3rd Street stays in 3rd Street.

I think my game skipped a cutscene...I just beat the two wights on top of the great wall area, and then after a short scene I get control back in a different part of the zone, get an achievement and a new quest that tells me more poo poo happened than I actually saw - Elysion was crushed by the dragon and it spoke to me, then presumably i jumped off the roof for whatever reason

I didn't see any of that though :/

I went from a Strider for ~10 levels to a Ranger for ~15, Ranger is amazing. You get augments that decrease charge time for longbow attacks and they usually cause knockback 80% of the time for most enemies. Their skills are incredible too, I could routinely take down entire groups and giants with ease.

Rangers are fantastic.

Here's the golden idol guide I used, but I did it before the trial.

Do you have a checkpoint save before the verdict? I always sleep at the in before I start or end any quests in case I want to reload to before the event. There's a forger in the encampment who can guarantee a innocent or guilty verdict for you if you have the cash.
