I cannot find a single thing on google about him being released. Somebody please help me figure this out before my head explodes He was found guilty and sentenced to prison, but by the time the trial was over he was already back in Brazil, and Brazil does not extradite its own citizens.

Will there be a separate thread for the upcoming WCQ matches or we will suspend the camaraderie in this one for a couple of days? Apparently Uruguay's formation against Venezuela could be a bit different than the one against Russia. The names are the same, though: Watch Venezuela kick a couple of long balls and score like every time we play with three at the back. Lugano is too slow for that. At least Cavani could be playing as a number 9 instead of whatever he's been playing before.

Caceres playing in a back three is weird - shouldn't be in the midfield on the wing? Seems like a waste.

Yeah, it's like Tabares didn't even watch him play this season, his offensive contributions were great whenever he could run up the pitch.

I'm just thankful that he's playing at all. The right wing will always belong to Maxi Pereira and the same could be said about Alvaro Pereira on the left. This selection allows to switch to a back four easily without substitutions, just move Maxi back and tell Cavani to start running everywhere and we have our usual formation.

Well let's talk WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION for CONMEBOL As many of you know, we play a couple of games a year. Since brazil is the host and they automaticaly qualify they do not need to go through WCQ instead they are playing friendlies (which I think will end up turning against brazil but hey that's my opinion) The fifth placed team will go against the fifth place team of AFC for a world cup spot. Here is the current table. And here is a list of the upcoming games

^^^He was already a horrible person, he played for Peñarol. I agree with you dj_pain, Brazil are setting themselves up for failure with these friendlies, they aren't even playing against strong teams (they might play Argentina soon, though). Speaking of National teams, if Uruguay beat Venezuela we(?) will climb to second place in that worthless FIFA ranking, the bad thing is we are having a difficult time beating Venezuela lately. In completely different news, a ball which is supposedly the ball used in the 1950 WC final will be auctioned in Brazil on June 19. Apparently the players of the current Uruguay squad will try to buy it and donate to the FA's museum. Some local banks are also interested in buying it.

Yeah, a lot of people have issues with both not playing the Qualifiers and the teams we're playing against on those friendlies. But I'm feeling like Brazil will yet again flop in the World Cup, because we haven't really revealed great players lately. Neymar is the only one that has proved himself on an international level, all of our other prospects are just that, prospects. Also, we miss Fat Ronaldo.

Pizarro out for this round of qualifications for Peru. I don't think we can beat Colombia right now, and this is a heavy blow. He just signed for Bayern too, he should be very motivated.

South America as a whole has spent way too long just giving away young prospects to Europe, keeping only the bad and/or old players on their leagues. At least cough up a LOT of cash if you want our really good players. Plus, it gives them more time to mature instead of going to Milan, getting caught in the nightlife and loving everything up. Brazil just began playing the U.S. Mutant Ninja Turtles or whatever that silly acronym means. There's this kid that's playing for Inter right now, Oscar, which a lot of people think is one of our best young players and I...eh. ninja edit: and Neymar just scored a penalty kick.

are these commentators retarded? They keep saying it wasn't a penalty because Onyewu doesn't raise his arms and tries to put them out of the way. cue numerous replays of him lifting his arm up and outwards towards the ball

Yeah, I meant more that they get overhyped, paid a lot of cash, and that plus being away from home and quite young leads to bad decisions. That and the players that come for the Brazilian nightlife are the old ones, like Ronaldinho. :-P

I think Neymar was smart in staying for a while longer to mature before going to Europe, in theory. He should be bulking up though and he hasnt done it at all, he's gonna be torn apart by any big defender in the European leagues if he doesn't bulk up quite a bit. EDIT: I completely forgot about this new Copa Argentina thing, looks like Boca just beat Rosario Central for a place in the semis against Deportivo Merlo and the other semi is River - Racing. Are they taking it seriously or playing B-Teams? Simone Poodoin fucked around with this message at 01:58 on May 31, 2012 |

Boca plays mostly subs, I believe. I don't think River has players good enough to be called starters.

It was misleading b-team, most of them are first teamers like Chavez,Mouche and Viatri. Pretty entertaining game, B-team Boca plays a more vertical and attacking game than the starters.

On the plus side the new Juan, who also plays for (the other) Inter, looked up for it. And Rafael was awesome. Nice to see Pato playing for more than 4 minutes and scoring at that

That 1950 ball that was going to be auctioned was apparently stolen from a Church in Florida, Uruguay in 1980. It was the only ball all the players signed, the auction might not happen now (of course it will). According to AS, Ronaldinho has been sacked by Flamengo for missing training. Rest in peace, Dinho.

ESPN just did a write up on the Flamengo/Ronaldinho situation. It's pretty hilarious: Link. Here are some highlights: quote:To lure Ronaldinho to Rio in the first place, Fla had established a partnership with Traffic, a firm that invests in the economic rights of many players in Brazil. In return for paying three-quarters of Ronaldinho's £400,000-a-month salary, Traffic were allowed to take control of his image rights and set up sponsorship deals. quote:But Luxa's patience ran out in January. He suspected nocturnal antics at the club's pre-season training camp, to the point where he began to trawl through CCTV footage, looking for evidence that Ronaldinho was sneaking a woman into the team hotel. He never found the proof but remained convinced of the midfielder's guilt. And, supposedly, Flamengo owes Ronaldinho $18.61 million and he's free to sign for another club. Betting he'll stay in Rio and would be ridiculously bad/funny if he joined Flu.

Uruguay is winning 1-0 at halftime in the worst match I've seen in entire life, I'm not exaggerating, it's poo poo. Forlan scored after a nice pass from Alvaro Pereira. Venezuela only cared about wasting time and haven´t produced much, It's hard to blame them ,though, the pitch is a loving disgrace, gently caress you Paul McCartney!

Venezuela has very good midfielders and forwards, the defense I don't quite like but you can't argue success. Forlan is looking shittier and shittier and Tabarez still doesn't make a sub until it's too late (and even then it was loving Abreu). At least Eguren is getting less playing time and it's looking like he will be the first to be phased out.

Have any of you guys seen the documentary The Two Escobars? It's about Pablo and Andres and how the worlds of drug trafficking and Colombian football collided during the 80's and 90's. I really enjoyed it but Im wondering if there were things that went missing or were otherwise glossed over as it was presented to American audiences.

Bolivia 0 - Chile 2 Second half was "Lets beat the crap out of sanchez". Bolivia ended up with 5 yellow cards and a straight red. If they had a bit more discipline in their team they could of easily drawn or won. At least this puts my country men at in the top three (maybe first depending on how arg-ecu go)

Once again Uruguay manages to play like poo poo and complicate things, if Argentina keep playing like this they'll qualify easily and Chile's win in Bolivia sucks for us because we won't win there. Venezuela's looking pretty good too. Looks like we'll be holding our calculators on the last day, again.

How can Uruguay be so poo poo yet have such a great attack, surely they could just play Cavani and Suarez up top, play Forlan in the hole behind them and just three poo poo-cloggers to press and win the ball back for Diego.
