I thought it was more likely that John was basically pretending to shrug it off rather than sound weak or sappy in front of Jade. He might be derpy but nobody forgets the major events of the day when they survived the death of their entire universe.

Yep. As soon as he sees a troll, he asks after Vriska by name, the moment he thinks he has some vague idea who he's talking to. Nearly the first thing after his mouth that isn't "which one are you". It needn't mean all that much, but I do think it indicates that he remembers better than he wanted to let on in front of Jade.

That's because they were spawned in A2, not A1. Their failure was assured because in order to be created in the first place, they would have to Scratch to create A2 and complete the timeloop. You could also apply this to the Kids, since in order for Jade to communicate with Jake and create Liv Tyler, they would have to Scratch as well.

UU said lime bloods were killed due to an ability they tended to have, which suggests that there was actually a troll society for exist in, and thus not one of the Batterwitch's failed attempts at resurrecting her race. Culling suggests A2, and someone brought up Reddit's theory that they had a calming effect that theatened the caste system. Another baseless theory, whose baselessness makes it more plausible, because Homestuck: what if they were culled in a dark chapter of A1?
