Given how much you were complaining about DS 1 I thought you were way beyond him already.

Buckle up because you're in for a ride...

For what it is worth, I think the early game, culminating with Beldr himself, is the worst part.

I actually liked DS1 better, but I played the first time so long ago I had forgotten how annoying those missions were when you didn't have the higher leveled demons.

Also, I'm trying to beat Beelzebub in DS2 and... I'm not sure what the best route is for it. I'm using Fumi, Jungo and Otome (my team for pretty much everything) but I always get messed up and they take down 3 guys and I can't recover from that.

Regarding Innocent Sin,

is there any reason to continue spreading rumors about equipment after making the shops in a single region sell quality/expensive equipment?

Also, do the transformation mutations require a certain character level or just luck? Do these exist for all the party members?

Different districts have different equipment selections for each rumor, so if you spread the expensive/high quality rumor in Aoba, they'll sell better stuff than what you could buy in an expensive/high quality Rengendai.

Anyone can get a transformation mutation, and any persona* can transform, but your odds are higher if you have better compatibility with the persona. It all depends on luck, but I'm not sure how much the actual Luck stat impacts it.

*Storyline personas can not transform this way, except for a specific one if you have it equipped at the beginning of a specific battle.

Thanks. So if I'm sticking with the default personae I shouldn't count on getting any transformation whatsoever?

Also the game so far is mundanely easy. I have not once felt remotely in danger, and I don't believe any of my party's members have lost more than 10% of their life bar in a single battle. I'm currently investigating the 'Lisa is an idol' rumor.

Question about Devil Survivor Overclocked on the 3DS, regarding Keisuke's fate on the 5th day:

I gave Mari's bag to Kaido and let her kill Kudlak during the battle. Later, Kaido did not show up to kill Keisuke, and I was able to enter Keisuke's encounter too. When I confronted Keisuke, I took Atsuro's option to BS Keisuke into stopping instead of fighting him, because I kind of agreed with his idea of vigilante justice. Midori left the party, but Keisuke joined. However, Keisuke's death clock is still at 0. Talking to him on the world map still shows his death clock as 0. Is this an oversight by the developers, or is Keisuke still going to die, even though I gave the bag to Kaido, Kaido didn't kill Keisuke, and Keisuke is safely in my party?

Google and GameFAQs don't have much to say about this, surprisingly. The only things they do say are that not fighting Keisuke means you have to fight Midori and Kaido later, and Kaido's path is locked, neither of which I have a problem with. I just want to know whether or not Keisuke is still going to die even though I seem to have done everything else right.

How does Persona 2 on the PSP compare to a modern RPG? I mentioned this before but played the fanpatch earlier and it just felt... old? Some games age well and it seemed like one of those games that didn't. I also wasn't really feeling the gameplay, the story was interesting though but I don't want to play 2 70 hour games for a story.

I think it should still be possible for you to save both Keisuke and Kaido after doing what you've done, even though you've locked yourself out of a couple of things.

It doesn't. P2 is an old-school JRPG in a modern setting and easier than most. The systems used (negotiation, cooperation, s-links, etc) are primitive compared to the new ones. The story is really the high point of P2.

Hate to burst your bubble but Persona 2 on the PS1 is in fact an old game. Old games don't "age" into great games on their own. The story is interesting because it's so different and the gameplay is something of a chore for most people. The PSP remake is also pretty rough in the load time department unfortunately.

So it looks like my copy of Nocturne shipped on the 1st and should be here probably tomorrow. As someone who's only played P3FES and watched the Giant bomb P4 Endurance run, can someone give me a primer on what to expect in this game? I tried looking through the Nocturne LP in the lp archive, but the videos have not aged well with LP standards and I can barely stand to watch em. I get that the standard demons and such from the persona games take up the role of your party members in this game, but is there a secondary mechanic to fusions ala social linking that gives your dudes level boosts or is it a lot more 'what you see is what you get' in it's approach?

Also, I get that the game is going to be harder, but how much harder are we talking about here?

Just don't give up when you fight the Matador. Level up and figure it out or come ask the thread for help and one of us will tell you the game breaking abilities that make him (and a lot of bosses) a push over.

Other than that it's not really that much harder than the other games but rather you will get a lot of bullshit wipes because it's instant game over whenever the hero dies. You can use a lot of the usual Persona 3/4 tactics to great success in Nocturne: buffs, debuffs, protect your weaknesses, exploit theirs.

On the fusion front - eventually you can make sacrificial fusions where you sacrifice another demon to inject a certain level of experience into the fusion process. I think it's like 1.5 times the experience of the demon being sacrificed.

Oh yeah, don't ever dismiss the pixie (or its fusion) you get at the start of the game. You can fuse it wherever you want, but don't ever sacrifice/dismiss the demon that it fused into. Just keep on fusing it forever/upgrading it and something magical may happen near the end of the game.

You'll honestly probably be able to figure it out as you play along, it's a hard game but it's not that hard to pick up.

My few pointers would be:

-Keep Fog Breath and War Cry around as long as possible, at least until you're comfortable with relying on your demons for it instead. I would say they definitely become useless once you get a good demon with Debilitate.

-If you are going for a Physical-based main character (very viable), keep Focus.

-The best magatama gives +10 to pretty much every stat. I'm pretty sure the maximum is 40, so by conjecture this means you should never have more than 30 in your base stats, otherwise those are wasted points.

-Explore the Amala Network for those stones that allow you to fuse Fiends. With the exception of the first one (Matador), all of the Fiends are outstanding party members. Just know that if you finish the final Amala floor, you will be locked into the hard True Demon Ending. Pretty sure the game explicitly tells when you've reached the point of no return.

Sacrificing the pixie is fine; you just have to keep it (or the demon that carries its "dna") with you at all times. (Though not necessarily in your active party.)

Also, it may be helpful to know that the "pixie DNA" demon should always be the first one on your list, regardless of how much you fuse it.

So I'm trying to blaze through the last third of P3 before I start on Nocturne here, and I had a question regarding the social linking stuff. With the datable girls, do I have to worry about any girl I've gotten to max rank getting jealous and dicking up my fusions if I start dating the other girls, or do I still have to keep the max ranked girls appeased? I noticed in the P4 endurance run that aside from one instance, so long as you just maxed one out at a time none of the other max ranked girls gave a poo poo. Is that still true here or do I need to pick my one/two true anime loves and stick with that?

The Arena announcement has nothing to do with the Golden trailer. They often use Japanese media material in their early promotions of their future localizations. Golden is no doubt going to have a full English version and almost definitely only an English one.
