I think in 50+ point games I still like Mags better because while Bart can support Galleon really well, that's ALL he can do, while pMags can still run a full battlegroup. But Bart+Doug+Colossal at 15 or 25 is just brutal.

A)Dexefiend your art makes me want to commit seppuku as I shall never be able to come close to it.

B) Question: If I double fist throw a vassal mechanick into a friendly warjack so that it will be b2b with it, will he gain all the benefits of Iron Sentinel before the damage roll?

My thinking is yes because his forced movement would have to be completed first, and since he would smash face first into the jack, he would gain the benefits before damage being rolled.

If so, I find that incredibly hilarious.

There was a good Muse on Minis podcast where they talk a little about beating Haley2. I think the gist of it was "weather her feat turn", and eventually you can catch up on attrition. Thats good advice for fighting Cygnar in general, actually.

My meta is very Cygnar heavy (although Protectorate is catching up), but I only know one guy who plays Haley2, and he isn't very good; always popping her feat one turn too late, not running a Lancer or Thorn, and not making full use of her control abilities.

The other players favor Kraye, Siege, and Caines (although the Nemos has been popping up more often, which, being a Nemo fan, makes me happy).

eHaley doesn't need an Arc Node, much less Thorn. In fact, IMO, she's usually better off without one.

Why is that? I would have thought that having an arc node to drop Time Bomb on a key target would be useful. I know that it would have screwed me over big time in my last game if he had dropped it on Maelok before his Stormclad charged me (he wiffed all but one roll). Or if he had hit Snapjaw with it before it could charge his Defender.

Absolutely it's useful, but 6 points and a bunch of extra focus to cast deadeye and allocate for damage boosts on 'Jacks is way, way more valuable to me. I want to spend as much time as possible removing your dudes from the table, and worry about crazy tricks only when they're a closer threat.

Bart or pMagnus?

Sab669
Sep 24, 2009

I don't remember his exact list, but it was Bart, Halberdiers, Gorman Di Wulfe and like 2 other shooty solos.

Every single attack he made with either Gun Port, he rolled a 3 on rapid fire except once :smith:

He even said he's never fielding it again outside of a tournament / unless his opponent has one, because of how much of an rear end in a top hat it is. Maybe 50+ points it wouldn't be so bad, but as that game was he could just circle-strafe his caster around the colossal and there wasn't anything I could do basically.

In related news, I told him he could play it again next week and I'll try out the Krakken. I'm thinking:
(-6)Gaspy2
(10)Max Bane Knight
(11)Max Bane Thrall + UA
(5 )Max McThrall
(2 )Skarlock
(4 )Tartarus
(5 )Ripjaw
(19)Krakken

Though I'm afraid rapid fire AoE3 will totally gently caress up that list's day.

Yeah they really blew that POW 17 cap for mercs out of the water with the Galleon. I'll be really interested to see how the Galleon holds up in the tourney scene in the coming months. It seems pretty good to me, but so do a bunch of other things in this game.

Also, in response to your questions about Circle from like 3 pages ago, I picked up Legion as my Hordes faction partly because I was tired of the pillow-fistedness of mercs and wanted a faction that could alpha well without 6 points of support solos. My wife has a Circle army as well, and I think they are a lot of fun to play given all of their movement and control shenanigans, but they do suffer from the same pillow-fisty issue that mercs do. (With a few notable exceptions like eKaya + Feral or Ghetorix with anybody.) So yeah...if that doesn't bother you, go for it.

Most people I've talked to at my shop seem to regard the Galleon as the best Colossal. Whether that's true or not, time will tell.

The argument is is that I guess it's vague as to whether or not Colossals can shoot out of the melee they are in (I know they can shoot in melee, but people were bickering over the semantics of whether or not they can shoot other things at the shop yesterday). Also just the fact that you can go balls-to-the-wall with its guns, and harpoon + buy attacks for melee.

On the other hand people are already getting prepared for the change in meta-game and coming up with lists that are designed to shut down a single warjack effectively. It's a tonne of points in one unit and if you can work out a 6 or 7pt hard counter via spells or abilities that will crap out a jack you'll be winning matches easily enough.

Gaspy2 feat should effectively remove a colossal from the table, if you can clear out the screening models first.

I think its extreme hyperbole to talk about unreleased models "breaking the game", in the context of one 35 point game worth of evidence. Especially when its Mercs

They cant be disrupted. There are plenty of feats/etc in hordes that add/remove fury or make it so a model cant be forced, which neuter a garguantuan pretty badly.

Pistol wraith takes away movement, so colossal sits and shoots still. Gorman...thats another thing altogether. Gorman fucks colossals. If youre dumb enough to let him waltz across the table within 10" or so of it.

Crippling Grasp is brutal on a 19 pt model. Hordes players will be bringing a thrullg, warmachine players will be bringing their various options as well.

As someone whose very new to Gaspy2, can you elaborate? Even with four dice on the charge, I feel like Bane Thralls aren't going to do a whole lot at with PS 11 against Armor 24 like I was dealing with. Like, average dice roll is only a few points of damage per attack.

All I can think of is to use the massive amount of infantry to be escorted past the colossal, feat and try to get the caster.

Also what was the errata to his feat? I know it was mentioned a few pages ago but I can't seem to find it.

Errata: models turn ghostly, not incorporeal. Also cant bring back large based models (cav)

Killing galleon:

Clear out front of galleon, as much as possible.

Gaspy charges something you place to get the most distance forward possible, parasites galleon. Feats, brings back 6 bane thralls, tartarus, and 3 bane knights. Gaspy teleports back to safety, maybe makes clouds to hide himself.

Galleon is at ARM 21 at this point. Tartarus curses it and charges, hopefully at a side angle to leave space. Now its ARM 19, because of dark shroud.

Tartarus does 7.
Charge the 6 banes, if all can reach they do 6 each. Thats 36.
Charge the 3 bane knights, behind the wall of bane thralls. They can attack over the thralls because of the size of galleon. Thats 18 more.

Thats 61 damage on average dice. You can pick your own mix of thralls/knights. You could use all knights, which is probably the safer bet. Tartarus or some other model with dark shroud is key.

TLDR: parasite, feat, charge with tartarus and 9 bane knights

e: if you go all knights + tartarus, you should be able to do this if you clear out about a 4.5" wide space in front of galleon, getting 4 guys in base to base and the rest making reach attacks over the top.

There are power imbalances with any models. Some models are going to be more useful than others, and consequently, these models get fielded more often.

The Colossals are certainly powerful, and moreover novel. The players at our local FLGS are a pretty decent and sportsmanlike crew, but there are a few of "those guys." By that I mean those who are more concerned about winning and showing off.

It's gonna require a variety of tools. For example, if you send a single very brutal heavy at a Colossal (Hammersmith, non-Sentry Titan, Carnivean) you are banking on doing enough damage to kill it in one round or you lose your beast. If, however, you're running, say, Jarl Skuld, you can do things differently. Magic bullet off of it to kill its mechanics and then charge a Raged Mauler in-- you won't kill it in one round, but if you do crippling damage you can finish it off at leisure.
If your opponent is dumb enough to take a colossal with no means of repair, though, go loving nuts.

I had trouble assembling her too, ended up pinning loving evrything on her. Those vents on the back would just not stay on, the contact surface is tiny.

Not sure about any side skirts, it should just be the base, lower body, torso, arms and those loving fiddly vents for her.
