Robo Reagan posted:How's Mystic Knight in terms of cool poo poo they get to do? I tried warrior, but it didn't really hold a candle to all the run, double jump on to monster's back, stab it in the face that Striders can pull off. I'm thinking of making one for my NG+ though. Mystic Knight gets some pretty cool poo poo, though you won't be running around and climbing like a Strider (but then, nobody does really). Both staff and sword/mace can be fun with the magic shields and there's a bunch of unique stuff they get for sword/mace. Magic Shield itself has a lot of great utility skills like elemental weapon enchants for the whole party, a really cool range extender for your main weapon (that's a dark spell but doesn't actually apply an element to your weapon, so it stacks with the enchants), and a few other things like a huge holy nuke (the same one the Dragon/Ur-Dragon uses). Magic cannon and Ruinous Sigil are pretty great too (for fun you can cast Ruinous Sigil and Vortex Sigil and watch enemies get sucked into it then tossed back out over and over again). I went into Mystic Knight directly from Fighter which worked pretty well, though in retrospect I might have wanted to get the Sorcerer casting speed augment too, since a few of the spells are painfully slow to cast. The Wyrmking's Ring would also be handy to hold on to. Otherwise though you don't really need any magick boosting stuff - Mystic Knights have spells but to me they're still a pretty physical class. Most of their spells are buffs or support stuff.

I've almost maxed out the Assassin vocation and I'm thinking about trying out either the Warrior or start to branch out into Mage->Sorcerer->Mystic Knight in order to try out another playstyle but I'm not quite sure yet. Do the Warrior vocation give anything worthwhile for a character that's been mostly Strider/Assassin during 35 levels?

People don't seem to be looking at it much, but Magick Archer is a lot of fun at high vocation ranks. Blowing things up with explosive rivet, a great aoe attack that locks onto 10 targets and 6 fold bolt is a great knock down for smaller enemies. The melee attacks are also fun, hundred kisses as standard, but setting yourself on fire and climbing on the big monsters is great. It starts off comparatively weaker to most classes though because it takes quite a long time before you get an upgade to the starting magic bow. The fact that all the bow attacks are elemental is good too. Its a really versatile class. Its best to go Mage > sorcerer > magick archer augment wise though. I went strider and its only the max mage augment I wanted but didn't want to level it

I wouldn't say it will necessarily harm you. It might become kinda redundant, gameplay-wise. I stuck in a few classes for large chunks of time-- I was a Fighter until maybe level 16, then a Warrior until 37, then a Ranger until 44, then an Assassin until 50, and now a Mystic Knight. If you're too poor to get a whole new set of gear, switch vocations with your pawn. When I went Ranger, my pawn went Warrior, and we traded gear.

How do the DLC Missions and gear DLC work with respect to New Game+, restarting and other profiles on PS3? If I buy the missions, will I be able to play them on another profile? Will I be able to use or buy the gear from the merchants too? There is this nasty warning on the PSN that I thought it was for the 2000 rift crystals about applying the DLC benefits only once to savegames but it appears in the descriptions of other DLCs as well... likecnsnnts posted:If you're too poor to get a whole new set of gear... ...trade moldy carrots.

Magick Archer bow attacks are not elemental, they're physical. The other HUGE problem with MA's (and why they're broken) is that elemental enchants on their bows do not proc the elemental effect or damage with special attacks. So if you have a fire enchant and use and MA skill, the skill only does base damage and gets no bonus damage or effect.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed that the MA skills all have a separate element (one is ice, explosive is fire, one is dark, one's holy). They might be a combination of physical and magical, but I'm almost certain they have a magical component and are elementally aligned. MA bow attack damage is also based on the Magic stat and not Strength like shortbows and longbows.

A) None of the MA attacks can damage the metal golem talismans. B) When fighting enemies weak to an element, say skeletons, they melt when you get a holy enchant. Using the normal attack takes forever. Unless you're strictly talking about attacking something that is not weak/resistant to the element, then that can't be right either.

Your pawns can permanently die if you don't resurrect them quickly enough. You can always hire the same support pawns from a riftstone again, and using a riftstone will bring your pawn right back. If you mean enemies that make them unrevivable (they don't show up on the minimap as coloured skulls) then I think it's just the petrifying breath of the Cockatrice. Even if they're petrified and shattered you can still always rehire them, and like I said before your main pawn will never permanently die.

There's a couple enemies that kill them in a way that you can't revive them during a battle (Cockatrice and maybe a Hydra), all you have to do is get near a Riftstone and your main pawn will pop back out and you can always hire new pawns from the stone itself. Don't forget that while your main pawn will level up with you, any you hire don't. So, you should trade them for new ones if they're no longer holding their own. e: welp, beaten like a bandit camp verses High Bolide.

The only spell that seems noticeably weak based on its element is hunter bolt which is holy but incredibly weak in general for obvious reasons. 6 fold bolt single hits any saurian in post game if you hit the tail. Hunters bolt does do holy damage its just weak most of the time. Explosive rivet definitely does fire damage since it does masses of damage to goblins before you blow it up that sets things on fire. Its kind of the whole point of the magick archer really, that certain attacks do different elemental damage. Also I've exclusively used a mage/sorcerer pawn and the elemental affinities do affect both melee and bow weapons. Since I'm using frost daggers and it overwrites and it overwrites the standard bow attack to become exceptionally strong against a lot of post game enemies

Magic Archer's abilities are elemental. Use a Six Fold bolt against a Saurian and watch it fold then use it against an Ice Harpy and watch it soak up the damage. If you're out-leveled the bolt will kill the harpy but it'll take all the charges. It's the best ability in the post-game because it also melts the Hellhounds. Magic Archer in post-game makes the new enemies a joke and I loved it!

Magick Archer has my eternal appreciation because I switched into it after maxing out assassin, and I've gone from being annoyed by ghost-types to cackling madly while queueing up a Hunter Bolt to clear every single one in a single shot.
