There were loads of great shots in that, like Louis doing his best to look casual while he stands around on set and Tasha walks past wearing nothing but a shirt. Or when hes watching that guy clean up in the kitchen and in the background you can hear her talking about her favourite positions to some complete strangers on webcam. Quite a depressing documentary but it had its bright spots. Nice to see JJ Michaels doing well though and Tommy Gunn was fascinating to listen to.

Tommy Gunn seemed super cool but I was pretty sad to see Kagney Linn Karter behind the scenes; almost didn't recognise her when she was talking in her normal voice. I'm surprised that there was no mention of James Deen, or Sasha Grey for that matter.

Birmingham one is still open, still running the 'Walkabout Card'. Manchester one was still open last august, when I happened to go into it...for...a bad time.

Maybe they went bankrupt and just had to downsize, GAME-style? Nottingham's Walkabout is still going, too, and it's fairly popular with the student crowd. Not sure why, it's poo poo and overpriced most days.

I really enjoyed it, though. I've seen enough docs on Pistols/Clash that there isn't much new in there, but I'm a sucker for those types of docs. It's no "Filth and the Fury", but still really good. Is it a 3 or 4 parter? It got as far as London Calling last week, which isn't really punk (or at least the tail end), so I'm not sure how they'd fill two more. The doc about TV Smith from The Adverts was pretty good too. I'm not a huge fan of the band but his career path was interesting enough, and it was nice to see him still playing shitholes and selling his own merch. Don't know if it's still on iPlayer.

Oh, did anyone watch the bizarre ghetto Masterchef Marco-Pierre White thing on 5 last week? The oddest thing about it was Marcos constant brandishing and waving of a massive loving knife for no reason. That combined with his crazy hair and outfits would get him arrested in seconds if he wasn't surrounded by cameras. Also funny was his habit of apparently just walking off as if he was bored and going to the pub.

The Britannia music series is always brilliant - I'd kill for a DVD boxset of them all. The talking heads on the Punk one does infuriate me at times though, because Punk - ironically for a music so apparently iconoclastic - is always so in love with itself and its own bloated mythology.

I watched the BBC4 Nina Conti documentary. Her former mentor Ken Campbell dies and leaves to her his ventriloquism puppets. She takes herself off to a convention of like minded people in Kentucky, packing all of the deceased's foamy friends in a suitcase hoping to give them a 'burial'. That's when you start to learn more about him, her, and their father/daughter/lover relationship. I'd recommend watching it, although I'm not sure how much of what she reveals is manipulative, as she produced the entire thing herself. The end loses its power when you see what happens to the Gertrude Stein puppet, given that this was all filmed in 2009, and it was only a few months ago she was bandying it about on QI annoying everyone.

Just a heads up, Boris Johnson was on The Daily Show on Monday. Not exactly UK programming, but I figured some of you might want to check it out. Basically he was pitching a book while Stewart was razzing the NY mayor for banning large sodas. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...-drink-ban.html Also I know this is two weeks late but the HIGNFY with Alastair Campbell was great. I particularly liked when Paul spouted out, "I admire your stamina" to Ian when he just wouldn't let up on the guy. One of the best HIGNFY I've seen.

Yeah I was looking forward to the interview, but Stewart rarely hosed up by harping on about the soda/weed issue. I don't see what connection it has to Boris and it clearly stopped him in his tracks. I'm guessing it was most American's introduction to him and it's a shame they didn't get the full burst of insanity he's known for. Boris is right about TDS not being available in the UK though, losing it from More 4 sucked and their website is fantastic... if you have an American IP address.

Why does London get so many documentaries, books and whatever the hell while places like Newcastle are ignored? London has a population of just under 8 million people, around 12% of the entire population of the UK, climbing to 40% if you include the bordering counties where the commuters live. In contrast Newcastle has a population of just under 300 thousand, or just under 1 million if you include the whole of Tyneside. That's 1.3% of the population, verses 40%. There's also the fact that Newcastle is a shithole full of geordies.
