I'm pretty early in the game, but are elemental weaknesses that much more effective for the rest of the game? I.E. fire against undead? I changed up my merc pawns to be fire casters for the catacombs and they just killed everything for me while I just blinded the mobs.

Generally, yes, having the right elemental advantage will do you well. If you don't have the matchup, you can still grind it out and plink a monster to death, though. It's just helpful to have the right setup, but it's not necessary.

I don't get the fuss over Dragonroar. It looks pretty... well, derpy. Actually, it reminds me of Bowser Jr.'s mask from Super Mario Sunshine. I might wear it if my two Twilight Masks look that bad, but I haven't made the leap to Assasin yet. Oh, I killed a Wyvern, and the shield I got for killing the dragon is Dragonforged to match my Dragon's Dogma. :unsmith:

This is true. It's like someone told Capcom about open world games and they only got half of the idea and made an open game world but didn't bother populating it with all the stuff that makes exploring them fun.

Instead of a sequel they should just push out some proper DLC, they can flesh out the blank areas on the map or maybe even just add a dinky little cave entrance to the world that leads to an underground city/dungeon.

Oh I definitely want another game with these play mechanics, but only a sequel in the sense that Dark Souls is a sequel to Demon's. Make the connection between the two worlds mysterious at best.

This reminds me, does someone want to tell me if my damage per attack somehow went down when I changed from a high-vocation-level fighter to a Mystic Knight. I was oneshotting Goblins with Blind Thrust and Tusk/Antler slash before, now everything has to be set on fire for that to even come close to working.

I've also found my favorite weapon in the game so far in the Quarry. It's no more than a wooden bat with nails driven through it, but it does better damage than my level 2 broadsword and looks metal as gently caress.

It was Plundersaurus Rex's dream to be the greatest pirate dragon ever.

I just fought the Metal Golem in the Everfall with the bullshit sky crystal...as a Warrior. At first I despaired, but then I discovered the natural solution: climbing up the bastard and leaping to strike the crystal. It took a dozen strikes and twice as many rock climbing runs, but it finally shattered, and so did the Golem. Depending on your point of view, this process is either incredibly stupid or incredibly awesome.

For me, the latter.

Wow, I hadn't yet really seen any pawns dressed up all skimpy up until now, but I just got the unlocks for giving Madeline the gold idol and just. Wow. I'm sure a ton of people dress their pawns up in this stuff for the whole "lol less clothing!!" thing, but the scary thing is the skimpy armor and clothing is just really good stat wise for where I am in the game. Way better than anything else my pawn had on. :stare:

Now I'm just like :sigh: whenever I look at her, since I know it's keeping her alive better, but at the same time auuuugh. I wanted to keep her looking classy and cool the whole game. Maybe I can give her a better top armor to wear later so she'll keep at least a bit of her dignity.

I don't think your actual stats change if you change vocation. But if you were a high vocation rank you were probably using high end skills. Going back to the beginner skills with a new class would lower your damage.

Yep, I had the second level of tusk slash and that carried over. It just seemed like the average attack did far less damage after the change. Totally beat the gently caress out of that Ogre, though.

There's a drawback to using endgame weapons with low level characters. The stamina required to use those weapons are significantly higher. Even running with the character tires out more quickly. Don't have any solid numbers but it seems to cut the runnning distance by halve. Rather good safeguard actually.

Last night I was fighting a Gorechimera and having a hell of a time getting to the snake. Then my enormous sorcerer pawn leaps down from somewhere and grabs the snake tail, starts hacking away with his staff, and shouts, "Master, I'll hold it while you strike!" :stare: This game sometimes.

I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

I ended up losing a pawn in the Everfall and just grabbed a random sorceror named Gene (who is so bishie I thought he was a woman) and he's been a remarkable find. Around the time that I start to think that a fight is getting a little too crazy or taking a little too long, that's when the meteors start mopping every thing up. He saves them for just the right time, every time. It's uncanny.

I did the same, but nothing reverted. You may have hit a bug or something.

This game sometimes.

I fought the Hydra with a mage, two warriors, and myself, an assassin. I stood back to get some stamina back and heard one shout to hack off the heads, and started rushing towards...the other warrior? That guy bent over, then loving catapaulted the other dude onto one of the necks with his sword and started going to town. I double jumped up to join him. He catapaulted me once too but I missed (the collision detection is kind of spotty on hydras).

Another time I heard one of my mage pawns say to keep the griffin down and out of the air. She decided to do this by grabbing onto a leg to keep the griffin from flying away until I could burn them with my fire arrows. Good job, pawn.

I seem to remember having two in my inventory. If you didn't notice then your pawn may have taken it. It's hard to say if that particular one was deliberately meant as a (post game spoilers) failsafe for people who lose/forgot their first one, or if the first godsbane was given to you to make Everfall chest farming a lot easier. If you get bad chest drops in a room, you simply stab yourself/hit retry/and recheck the chests.

You get the godsbane back after you kill the seneschal regardless of what you do with it in the post game, and I don't think you can interact with anyone to give presents at that point.

I do like Skyrim, but yeah, I can only imagine how boring the spells and combat will seem when I try to go back to that.

So I just beat up Gen 36 Ur-Dragon and got some fun drops.

The fight itself is kinda hectic and intense, but pointedly Not Fun after the third or fourth consecutive time into the chamber. The fight pretty much becomes: a.) put up with wind bullshit, b.) avoid all blue fire, c.) revive all your pawns, d.) do no damage.

Dire gouging a weakspot for 1-2 minutes after failing to climb to it for 2 minutes while fighting the terrible camera I soon lose all control of, only to have the dragon peace out shortly after?
