Terry Urban released a Notorious BIG/Lana Del Rey mashup this month called Born Ready to Die, and it's pretty much perfect if you like his style. Viva La Hova, the Coldplay/Jay-Z mashup album is also full of some pretty sick stuff

This is great. Classical music (although this is an LotR theme with classical elements) is way underused. I would love to see some artists to take this direction (without making it a gimmick, of course).

If anyone else has some mashups using classical music, I would love to hear it.

That would be great. I'll have to hunt it down, and it'll also give me an excuse to listen to some more mashups I missed. Any idea on who they were by?

If you like that, get his newest album Frequent Flyer. It came out last week. You should also be listening to 3LAU since they're both very similar, if you're not already.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
Agreed, I saw Girl Talk back in March at one of his Sydney shows and holy poo poo it was unreal. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

I always thought I was good at keeping up with mashup music, but I somehow only discovered The White Panda a couple of weeks back. Holy poo poo! If you haven't listened to Bambooyah or Pandamonium, you absolutely should!

I've been looking for a track breakdown for their stuff but haven't had much luck. Have any sperglords put together a big tracklist breakdown for either album? I don't listen to much pop music so I don't recognise most of the samples.

I've been dying to see GT live. He's coming to Atlanta in September but tickets are $90-$100. I loving love GT, but, drat, that's a lot for a ticket. :(

Is his show worth $100?

Yeah absolutely. I saw him in an old turn-of-the-century theatre in Sydney with no air conditioning, and by the end of the show sweat and condensation were gushing off the ceiling. Kinda gross, but everyone was already covered in confetti and (unused) toilet paper anyway :v:

There are a lot of other good non-mashup artists that are going to be at Music Midtown as well though. Personally, I'm more excited for CounterPoint Festival since I've never been big on Girl Talk, but I do enjoy 3LAU and Super Mash Bros. And once again, there are going to be a ton of other great artists there as well, even if they aren't in the mashup genre.

Jesus, is this for a festival, or is it that how much he charges nowadays?

He's totally worth the money, but Jesus, I feel like he should be charging no more than $30 because that's just gouging.

Thanks for all the input. I've been convinced and, thanks to enthe0s for the link, bought a cheaper $70 ticket :v:

Yeah, it's a 2 day music festival, but really I just want to see Girl Talk. Ludacris and Pearl Jam are playing the same night, so I think the ticket price is justified. So excited now!
