Radish posted:Devil Survivor 1 & 2 are both fun. I think 1 was better since the feeling of dread as the locked down city devolves into chaos was more interesting than the typical world destruction and being recreated in the image of somebody plot of 2 we've all seen before. DS1 really nailed the atmosphere, yes, but then again i really love how DS2 is basically SMT Evangelion. They're both great games though.

I tried DS1 Overclocked from Gamefly and the combat seemed really, really, incredibly shallow, without the quickness of Summoner to make up for it. Does it get better later on? I sent it back pretty quickly since I'm just doing a month trial and had other games I wanted to try more.

Can you go into detail on why you found it shallow? It definitely gets more involved when enemies get more resistances/ways to exploit yours (unless you just go the tired and true holy dance + drain combo) e: Also the P3Movie site went live, nothing really there yet though http://www.p3m.jp/

I found both the Devil Survivor games to be criminally easy* (though I haven't tried Overclocked yet), but generally extremely fun (and both probably have the best path options in SMT). I don't know that complex is the word I'd use to describe the battle system though. *Not that I tried to make it harder for myself. Holy dance supremacy, man.

It just seemed incredibly easy to get extra turns and block your enemy from getting them with some quick buys from the auction to make a party that covered everything. I only played a couple hours in, but I never found a situation where the problem was me not fighting well instead of "This Devil is 3 times your level, go grind a couple battles until it's only twice".

I started some games on PSP and continued them on vita. It definitely works, the screen actually makes them look nicer instead of blurry and you can set the right analog stick to emulate the facepad, analog or D Pad which means in some games you can use it for camera control. Edit: Certain PSP games can't be transferred without a PS3 for some reason but the Atlus games are ok.

Knights in the Nightmare is really good, but extremely weird and seems very complicated when you first start out. It's kind of an action/strategy game with some bullet hell aspects and a little bit of RPG-like inventory and character management. If you like games that are really unique it's a good one to pick up.

Droplitz is a fun puzzle game that kind of plays like a cross between Bejewled and Pipe Dream/Pipe Mania. It'd definitely be worth five bucks to have it on a portable system, even if it does go for the same price on Steam when it's not on sale.

If you follow the Giantbomb thread you'll know that their Persona 4 Endurance Run encouraged me to go out and buy the game. I actually beat it a few days ago and I really have to say it's probably one of the best JRPGs I've played in a while. I've about given up on the genre since I hasn't really appealed to me in a long time. The gameplay in Persona 4 was pretty refreshing despite a lot of the systems being esoteric but I hear are getting fixed in Golden, though I haven't really been following that game since I don't own a Vita. But yeah, I really enjoyed the heck out of it. A shame Atlus seems content on just focusing on merchandizing Persona 4 out as I would love to see what they are doing for Persona 5 on this generation of consoles.

It is the most unique thing I have ever played, and trying to explain it to my friends always results in a brain hemorrhage. The best part is finally finding out that the squeaking sound is the story-teller rocking in his chair, recounting the tale. Then you get to play round two where the identity of the angel is completely swapped, and you get a whole different cast of knights to recruit.

Haha does anyone actually find this surprising? Atlus knows how to appeal to the creepy otaku market. I mean that's kind of tame compared to Robo finger banging and borderline pedophilia which they already pulled out in P3.

Also, let's be fair. If anyone of the cast was going to do that, it would be Rise. Girl was practically falling over herself to get close to the MC in vanilla P4, even if you didn't touch her S. Link.

Not trying to defend Atlus on this (the pandering they've been doing with the Persona franchise is frankly getting kind of old) but unless I'm mistaken, the text in the JP versions has always been more raunchier (as I recall people putting a bit stink about similar things in P3 way back when, and then the US release didn't make those scenes as explicit) So it's sadly not a new thing. But if anything it should be toned down quite a bit for the US release.
