Seat Safety Switch posted:Weird. Some guy made a similar post on my local forum (a forum with a number of overt and not-so-overt cops on it) looking to have someone register their car for them. My gf got a copy of her Ontario birth certificate in four weeks and we were in Australia. It cost like 40 bucks. If you want to be a :iamafag: you could post a link to this: http://www.ontario.ca/en/information_bundle/birthcertificates/119274.html Now this sounds like either a scam or a sting for a scam (possibly trying to catch crooked DMV employees, which would fit in with the current war on public sector employees in the US...) If begging other people to register your car for you, lend you their license, etc. was actually a thing, I guarantee I would have seen it on the z31 forums by now. Because American z31 guys are some broke-rear end hard-luck motherfuckers.

Isn't the 12A not very popular and as well supported in the aftermarket as the 13B?

DJ Commie posted:Isn't the 12A not very popular and as well supported in the aftermarket as the 13B? It's not that bad, since literally 90 percent of first-gen RX-7s had the 12A. Only the GSL-SE model of the last two years had the 13B, out of a 6-year run. I'd agree that there's probably more stuff for the second-gen 13Bs, though. On a related note, he'd have to work pretty hard to get 150 normally-aspirated HP out of that 12A. They're only factory rated at 104 HP, so at the least it's had some internal work done. Carb, intake and exhaust aren't going to do it alone. That said, even with only 104 HP, that 7 would be gangs of fun - after all, that's about all the Miata 1.6 is rated at, and plenty of 7s are made with Miata donor bits. I mean, what does the thing weigh 1500 lbs.? First gen RX-7s are pretty fun at 2500-2700 lbs. (as I recall.)

It could be bridge-ported or something. Even if it's only a stockport, that's still more than enough power for the weight of that car.

The 12A FBs were ~2300lbs, my instructors Rover V8 locost weighed in at 1000lbs.

I seem to remember a thread here where a goon with a '79 somehow wound up getting the very last two original stock 12A housings in NA; they were sitting buried in the back of a warehouse somewhere in Canada iirc.

As i slowly relive my past automotive youth this is one car, in hardtop, i can not find around here. I've had an '85 EXP and an '86 but finding a semi clean '86 Escort GT with a 5spd is impossible. They rusted bad around here 20yrs ago but i'd pay a couple grand for a decent one, maybe $2500 just because they are so unique in this area. You'd think the EXP would be harder to find but i honestly found both of the ones i purchased within a hundred miles of my home.

Throatwarbler posted:Why does it have an Iron Duke? Did they originally come with those? It seems to be a reasonably popular swap for them. And while the stock motor is reliable, by now it's probably down to about 40 HP and wasn't adequate to move that thing along the highway even when it was new with 66 HP. If you actually want to drive it (without terror) on a road with a speed limit above 35 MPH you pretty much need to do something. They are surprisingly good off road even with that tiny amount of power. I'm sure they're much nicer with 140 HP (he did say it was a 3L).
