No, it's because literally everything has already been covered, so anything more on this specific topic is just repeating the same things.

It really bums me out when people try to crush interesting discussions in this way.

I think this is a much more interesting topic than most of the stuff in this thread, which really is just repeating the same things (there was a gas leak, you should start at episode 1, I left a voicemail).

No one was upset, no one was being a dick, I don't even think anyone was particularly offended. It's just something interesting to talk about.

It's a thread for people who listen to hours and hours of two guys talking, so of course people are going to talk about what they are like as individuals. It's ok to analyse things you enjoy.

This was the first podcast I ever listened to, and the only one for a long time. I like that they are honest about their feelings/opinions while (usually) acknowledging their (personal/opinions') shortcomings. It's rare to hear someone express an unpopular feeling or belief in most popular media while also acknowledging that they're probably full of poo poo.

Were they to stop expressing those feelings/thoughts it's not as if they would cease to have them, and we would no longer be hearing the "real" Jonathan and Seth in that case either. The lack of an internal or external censor on what they say is one of the unique aspects of this particular medium, compared to, say, traditional talk shows. Perhaps this is why they've been so adamant about not having sponsors since the early days.

I disagree with a fair amount of what they say (often about things which I am probably more familiar than them) and I doubt we would see eye to eye on a lot of things, but it's refreshing to hear where people are actually coming from, even if it's exaggerated for comedic effect.

Says who? Who decides when a word's meaning has officially changed? I know for myself at least that when I head the word "human being" I don't think of gay people, I think of someone being annoying or stupid.

I don't care who decides what, but being mad at people for being offended--and in this particular case, very politely offended--at the use of words like "human being" or "friend of the family" or "retarded" is completely missing the point.

They're easily avoidable words that some people find offensive and they have the right to point out that fact. Jah can use "human being" as much as he wants and people can not like it, can believe it still has meaning and can think that he shouldn't be using it. If someone uses that term they must know that others don't like it and it invites a conversation on the matter, regardless of whether they think it's "lost its meaning" or whatever.

Says the people who still get called that for being gay or for whom that word opens up very deep wounds, probably. I'm sure you and your buddies call each-other all sorts of names, it doesn't mean that the word doesn't still mean the thing it originally did to a lot of people.

I wrote this whole long post, looked at it, then sighed because I was so disappointed I let myself get dragged in. I'll just keep it to this: People who find it more interesting to talk about this then all the other aspects of the show which far outnumber this belabored and much tread upon topic, I do not get you, and I think you're in the minority. I'm done talking about it, do what you want, because you were going to anyway.

Has anyone ever bothered to actually watch Seth's tiny role in Crossroads? Even in this tripe, he manages to be Seth, and I'm glad it's available so I don't have to actually watch the movie to see it.

Seth talks about his outfit on what I think is one of the Largo shows. The scene is the second link

You can talk about whatever you want while other people engage in a conversation, though. It's very interesting how these forum boards work. I would say that a lot of people are interested in acknowledging this topic, and as evidence there have been a shitload of posts in this thread recently whereas there are usually only a couple here and there.

I just listened to episode 328 this morning and I was anticipating Seth's reaction to Nik Wallenda's walk across the fall and it didn't disappoint at all. His rants are the best and the multi-episode build-up to this one was as close to perfect as they come.

Oh poo poo I totally forgot about this. I was listening to recent stuff where he mentioned the Nik Wallenda walk till this thread advised me to start back from the beginning.

Think I'll break my backlog streak and listen to this. I definitely would have never even known about this walk until Seth's hilarious "On June 15th we are going to watch a man die on live television" rant.

Now I'm watching some of the UYDs on youtube, I find it confusing because it's funnier seeing their faces as they react to Potachos, but also Seth seems to stand so much, like he's forcing his dominance on Jah. When I first heard UYD I kinda imagined them being a little bit younger but they look pretty much how I expected them to.

I see it as Seth being so loving amped on energy drinks and clean vegan living that he can't stand still. Contrast that to slobby Jonathan who can't stick to a diet for poo poo and is usually smoking inside.

It's always been a bit surprising to me that Seth is ok with Jonathan smoking in the studio. I guess that fits with him being overly supportive of other peoples addictions though. Kinda like how he always keeps some airplane bottles of booze on hand for his homeless.

Yeah, especially when smoking on the podcast is so loving annoying to listen to. Chew more things, Jonathan. Go ahead, slurp that energy drink loudly into the mic. Smoke another. Make sure to do it as loudly as possible so we can all hear you. Thanks. You're not gross at all.

The episode about Seth's Sexy Sativa is a fantastic and meta example of this. He's smoking Seth maaan.

What I did when I first listened was, while going through the back catalogue, I'd take a break to listen to the new episodes as they came out each week. It's fun because you get to see the contrast between new and old episodes and are able to hear them discuss events while they're still current.

Edit: I apologize for discouraging people from talking about their problems with the show. They have every right to do that. It's just that I felt kinda bad for inadvertently being the original poo poo-stirrer.

How close of friends are Seth and Jonathan outside of the podcast? They don't talk very much about things they do together and their social circles seem to be very different.

It seems to me as though they were closer friends nearer the start of the podcast. They used to talk about going places much more frequently(Seth on John Laroquette's guacamole etc). However, I could be wrong as I listen to episodes pretty randomly.

Also, the Seth's Sexy Sativa episode is hilarious.

Going back a few paged, but when they do feel dated, it ends up hilarious. I'm trying to think of good examples outside of Seth and Johnathan talking up their mysypace and the time Seth was disgusted to learn about crocs when Johnathan wore a pair into the studio.
