Cucumber, you should have learned by now to expect these sort of things. Then they won't be surprises anymore, they'll just be your normal crummy life!

Aw man now I want to see a hard-boiled egg fairy. All lounging just out of sight around the corner, hat pulled down, collar turned up against the wind. Shielding its cigarette and pondering senseless violence and city hall corruption. Also its head is an egg Dunno if gigi can pull off chiaroscuro shading with the pastel palette she's been using but that would be aces

Heroes?! What a shocking twist! So I'm guessing each hero got sent to a different one of the several beasts all believing they were the one true hero?

The more sardonic side of me thinks its more of a case of "throw a bunch of kids at the same dangerous task, and the one that doesn't die is obviously the true hero".

I find it amusing that Cucumber's just kinda crying/facepalming in the second panel. Also, the fairy's expression in the second-to-last panel is just wonderful.

Probably so people don't get spoiled on the recent page if they're newtime readers. I've done that a few times on other comics and it's not too fun. I'm sure she could add a "remember to stay to the recent page" cookie but she's not a programmer, so it'd be hard for her to add.
