i had to work on a drupal 6 thing and i guess drupal 6 isn't compatible with php 5.3, at least i couldn't figure out how to make it stop spewing infinite errors b/c drupal 6 doesn't know what E_DEPRECATED is. ended up patching the source but it's ok because it was all checked in anyway so the whole site was kind of a drupal fork, except that the guy i was working with also would unpack a drupal tarball into the build dir. one time i wondered what would happen if we didn't have both drupal-in-tarball and drupal-in-svn as part of the build but i figured that whole thing was made of NOT WORTH THE EFFORT and debugged some errors caused by ignoring undefined arary indexes instead.

just use fastcgi for everything itd be preferable at this point

im sure being able to run some command from your shell and get a pos server running on port 6969 is great for playing about with things quickly but its prob raising a generation of devops retards who dont realise they are but one part of the ~stack~

mojolicious::lite apps are very similar to dancer apps, but full mojolicious apps let u have more control over yur routes and stuff.
its also infinitely better for debugging. even has a LWP replacement for testing. it owns.

what is the big deal about python 3 migration anyway

I keep reading people complaining about it

also trexeaterofcadrs does groovy 2.0 fix those problems you experienced, we have some jvm integration work coming up and I'd like to use it

python 3 focuses on cleaning up the language instead of backwards compatibility and poo poo like numpy and django dont work on it, which are like the only 2 reasons people use python

programmers don't like change, except the changes they wanted. (c.f the 'gil')

basically all of the people whining don't realise that python 3 is not going to adopted over night.

it's only relatively recently become production ready and as a result the major libraries have porting efforts are happening.

in reality it isn't so much the shift from python 2.7 to 3, but the shift from 2.4 to 2.7 that is the sticking point. many of the libraries already support multiple versions of python, so they're going to have to drop a few before they support python 3.

:munch:

i bet ruby 2 won't be nearly as bad because we already have like four different implementations that get used (1.8.7/ree, 1.9.3, jruby, rbx)
