What are the best mods for GTA4 for PC? Going to pick this up for $4.99 and I have already played through this and all the episodic content on 360. So now I'm getting the PC version specifically for mods.

Also includes new weapon models and sounds. Installs for either GTA4/EFLC (has a few more cars for EFLC) and can easily be uninstalled while it backs up your old files. edit: This will disable multiplayer too, but it uninstalls via the control panel so its you can revert back pretty fast. Also I dont recommend clicking the "traffic bug fix" in the installer, it fucks up my graphics. Cage fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Jul 18, 2012 |

I thought Redding, but that's in Washington. But the whole thing reeks of laziness and wanting to just throw random symbols all over a map. It doesn't even look similar to what a GTA map looks like.

An obvious fake but I'm a bit disappointed, I'd love a game with a ginormous map like this, provided they don't make you drive all over it in missions. Although admittedly it would be pretty much impossible to memorize the whole thing.

You don't have to actually drive and once you're like 1/3 of the way through the game you have plenty of money for it. Anyway that map is ridiculous. Look at the road nets, GTA IV Liberty City would cover, what, a third of Los Santos on that map? And LC is pretty big. You'd never get anywhere.

You would with a decent highway system. Or a plane for longer distances. Its a real shame looking at all these fake maps and knowing that in reality we're only going to be getting the LA area.

Pablo Gigante posted:Not really, but GTA3 had more generic names for its places rather than ones that played off of real-life locations. San Andreas did a lot more of the latter so I figure they might reuse some location names for GTAV. Well Hollywood's once again going to be called Vinewood in V. Of course that's probably because Vinewood was mentioned in IV.

Totally just bought the poo poo out of that GTA pack. $12 for every GTA game??? Is mouse/keyboard feasible for most of these games or should I buy a controller dongle if I have a 360 controller already? I'm also pretty psyched to try that first person shooter mod.

Something I forgot about GTA4 on 360: Playing free mode online with a friend is feels a lot more like a "true" GTA rampage mode. Running from the cops by yourself in one player always felt kind of limited to me. Like the behavior of the cops going after just one person is too predictable and there aren't a lot of good options for gaining back ammo/life when you're in the midst of a big chase. At some point it just becomes an attrition battle to see how long you can last before you crash your car or the few lucky shots the cops can land through your window get you. I got into free mode with my brother last night for a while and it is just a plain hoot to have two people doing the classic "run up as much stars as you can and try to escape". There's armor and weapons all over, and you have a partner who can cover you when you want to bail for a second to grab a vest or a gun. Bonus points for dragging the chaos over to the other random people joining your free mode game. It's been years and years and this game still scratches that itch.

I've played through every GTA game multiple times with mouse and keyboard and never ran into any problems. Flying planes in San Andreas is a little finicky, but I was able to find a key configuration that worked for me after a few minutes of loving around in the settings.

I would like to say that the last mission in GTA IV for the DEAL ending is the loving hardest, poorly designed mission in the entire game. I have retried upwards of 15 times now, and every time I get in the loving helicopter with rasta dude, Dimitri immediately gets away. I have control of the vehicle for maybe two seconds before it fails me. I don't think there is anything I can do differently to not fail, so this is more of a rage post, but if anyone else spent days failing at this mission over and over before they beat it, I'd like to hear how.

I seem to recall having that happen to me twice but this was at release so you'll forgive me if I don't remember exactly how I dealt with it. Probably just did it and it randomly decided not to dick me over that time. Enjoy!

I hate whenever a game says "This guy got away!" No he didn't I still see him there. I'm not the police, he didn't cross out of my jurisdiction, he's still right there. I was still shooting him.

There isn't anything you really need to know. The games are very different from GTA IV, they are more like Saints Row. There is a ton of stuff about the side missions that you probably want to google but for the first 10+ hours your are fine by doing just whatever. Got GTA IV a few days ago on sale. If I didn't know GTA games, I would have assumed that the whole thing could be called "GTA IV: Hey Cousin! Take my lovely car and run some errands for me!" and ditched it after a few hours, but fortunately it picks up after a bit.
