Gosh this is really irritating me. I remember watching a trailer for an unreleased game recently. I swear it was at E3 but I can't find it again for the life of me. I believe it was based on a sci-fi brand like 40k or something. The trailer involved the protagonist going down this gigantic lift into the bowels of a big-rear end space city. Other than that I have absolutely no memory of what it involved or what it was called. Can anyone help me out?

Okay, I hold out slim hope for this but trying to remember this game is driving me bonkers. Quick warning, I'm going by memories over a decade old at this point so I may be fuzzy. I've tried to search for this but can't find anything. There was a DOS game where you were a nameless protagonist in a fantasy land trying to raise an army to fight some kind of dark lord. The majority of the game was presented in text with multiple choice options on how to respond to various situations that arose, and these would have an effect on your character or your army. At the end, if you got that far, your armies would clash in an automatic fight before you and the dark lord clash in single combat. I distinctly remember having a pair of smiley face ASCII tiles clashing on a black screen, one solid and one outline. You were then given a readout of how you did and oftentimes at this point the game would dump me back to the Windows 3.0 desktop. I remember one particular ending had my character plucking a ring off of the dark lord's corpse and being corrupted by it, turning into the next dark lord. Sorry for the mass of words! Anyone had any idea? This has been driving me bonkers.

PC game from late 80s, early 90s. Color. You controlled a spaceship in a screen that was constantly-scrolling upward. You were surrounded by all manner of other ships, some going faster, some going slow. Occasionally a "police ship" would appear at the bottom and make its way past; if you fired on another ship when the police were present, their sirens would go off and they'd chase you. All the ships constantly pointed toward the top of the screen, so the police chasing you was really just it moving closer to you without swerving or appear to change its direction. I saw this the other day: and it reminded me of the game, except the game was 10x slower than the animation it shows.

We had an Atari, and it was a tank game where there was all these different kinds of levels where the only difference was rules of the game. It was a 2 player game and you would try and shoot the other tank. On one of the modes, the bullets would bounce. Please tell me I didn't dream this up.

I've been playing Earthbound today, and I thought there was a pirate radio station somewhere in the desert. Turns out there's not, so I'm probably thinking of a different game -- but what one? All I remember is that it was some tiny building in a desert with a basement, and the game itself was probably an RPG similar to Earthbound (ie: set in modern times). Maybe you could call the station at some point during the game as well? edit: pretty sure I was thinking of Hyperbound, which is ... a hack of Earthbound. Oops. triple clutcher fucked around with this message at 01:05 on Jul 16, 2012 |

This was an early 90's flight sim, not too complex. The only thing I remember is a mission where you have to defend the Queen's 747 from IRA fighters.

This was an arcade game from around 1994-95. It was an FMV cowboy game like Mad Dog McCree, but the player engaged in duels with other cowboys. I remember that ff the player pulled their gun too early, a cowboy who dressed in black would pop up and say "that's a foul." The player ended up fighting him at the end of the game.

Trying to remember the name of an old game I think it was SNES, possibly NES. Was an RPG where you find an old abandoned town and can recruit people from around the world to take over shops and repair it and stuff. Other than that I think it was just a standard action or turn based RPG.

No it wasn't Actraiser. It was something in the mold of Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest I think but obviously not them. I wish I could remember more about it as I know this is pretty vague.

I vaguely remember reading about a point-and-click adventure game in the same style as LucasArts / Sierra 90s adventures, which was about the player investigating the Phantom of the Opera killing dozens of people after lowering a chandelier onto the audience. I never actually played the game, only saw it on a copy of Computer Gaming World, but I'm pretty sure it exists. Help?

I'm trying to remember the name of an arcade game I used to play back in the early/mid 90's. It was similar to Spy Hunter in that you drove a car and blew up other cars and poo poo, but the graphics were more like Outrun. The game had a mechanic kind of like the F-Zero games where you had a fuel gauge and at the end of each stage you drove through a glowing stretch of road that would refill some of the gauge. I thought this would be easy to google but I'm not getting anything. I hope I didn't make the whole thing up in my head.

Back in the early to mid 90s, my dad had this semi-turn based, semi-real time strategy war game for the Macintosh. The units (tanks, infantry, air, naval units) were little squares, and when you moved it to another part on the map, it would show this projected line of where it was going. The teams were only colored red and blue but the scenarios were WW2 or Vietnam or Modern War or Future War. I thought the title had an acronym in it but I'm pulling a blank. Not a lot to go on, but I would appreciate any help!

I used to have this one PC game where it was semi RTS where you had a little pilot and it could get into a robot mech gundam thing and you could fight others, you were also able to detatch arms and pick up an enemie's and use that instead. it's so vague that I can't remember anything else but it was a fun as hell game.

Secret of the Stars is an RPG for the SNES that looks like it was made for the NES, and one of the plot threads involves gathering people to help build a new town. If I were you, though, I would just play Soul Blazer.

This might be a hard one... My memory of it is really shaky. It was a Windows PC game, late 90s possibly, with prerendered backgrounds and crude 3D for the characters. Controls were like Resident Evil - tank controls at a fixed angle. The plot was that your character gets some kind of disease that is corrupting him, and you actually see his skin getting more covered with it and him getting more feral as the game went on. You are exiled from the main city to the slums because of your disease, and you have to find a cure. The gameplay was some light puzzle solving with a lot of awkward melee combat. I got stuck at a certain part of the game where you had to beat someone at Reversi/Othello, and the AI opponent played the game PERFECTLY - loving obnoxious, since I'm poo poo at Reversi.

This thread has been pretty useful in the past, so let's hope someone can help out. It's an old game. Played it in the late eighties, early nineties. Computer, not console. Most likely running on Amiga/Commodore/Atari or Amstrad. 2D horizontal sidescroller/platformer. Graphics were of course archaic. Literally the only thing I can properly remember about it is that you controlled this character, but could also occasionally fly on a dragon (or some winged beast) and shoot the enemies. Similar to Mario switching between walking or riding Yoshi, basically. When Drakan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drakan ) came out, I remember thinking, "Wow, that's a sequel to that game I used to play as a kid!" Any idea? I'm seriously starting to doubt my own memory.
