Annie looks at least a little freaked out and probably was more afraid than she let on, but still was pretty brave to even defy Coyote in the first place and stand her ground in his territory.

Mastery, not absence. Attention to these details of character is what sells the comic to me. :allears:

I swear, every prediction I make is hilariously off. Ah well, this was clearly the best outcome. Plus Coyote looks just like my dog when she flails about, and that's hilarious.

New prediction! Annie's going to be too relaxed and let it slip during her story telling about coyote giving her his tooth and then poo poo will really go down.

This is what fascinates me most in existence: the peculiar necessity of imagining what is, in fact, real.

I think that Coyote is going to go quid pro quo with Annie and we are going to get sweet sweet exposition and a ton more Coyote avatars.

I'm looking forward to it.

I mean, technically the story is still narrated by Antimony from some indeterminate future point, yes? Since an "...and then I died, ZING!" twist seems far too cheap for Siddell, we can be reasonably confident she'll come out of any situation alive...but not necessarily well...

Actually, given the combination of post-death etheric contact, the fact that she knows every spirit of death on a first-name basis, and the whole fire-spirit thing, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the comic ends with Annie dead and watching over her kid from the afterlife, and telling all this to her mom. Which would be a pretty :unsmith: ending, imo.

Edit: Or possibly choosing the forest, converting back to an immortal fire elemental, and telling this story to the potential court mediums hundreds of years in the future.

That is beautiful and you should be proud.

I genuinely love these sorts of sequences. I felt real tension, there, despite the fact that I was 100% convinced Coyote was only screwing around, there was a tiny part that just wondered 'what if Tom's really going to do it :ohdear:'

Very nicely done.

Hah, thanks. Couldn't have done it without Zenzirouj coming up with the eye lasers idea (and of course Tea doing all the hard work) though.

Couple of nice touches I've noticed this chapter: While Annie is still wearing her makeup, it's much more subdued then in the past. On the new page, whiny Coyote's blue paint patterns on his face morph into tears of a sort. Also, as someone pointed out, Ysengrin is being drawn in a much "friendlier" form than in the past.

I really wanted to do Coyote in the last panel as well, but there's so much other stuff going on around him that I couldn't figure out a good way to frame it.

Also, just finished this:

The way Ysengrin says this cracks me up, it's like he's terrified of his own words, but also just has no idea what the hell else to do. Part of me wonders if Coyote is just acting, but either way he's hilarious.

All these Coyote avatars...they make me nervous...like somebody's pulling a prank on the entire forum! :tinfoil:
The only reason I'm not buying an avatar right now is because I suspect Coyote's going to give his GREAT SECRET in the form of a long and freewheeling shaggy-god story, which means even better avatars to come!

You'd think Ysengrin would be used to him being undignified by now.

And now, another 72 straight hours of :f5:ing!
