It's my last day in Manchester today, I picked up Shelob Attack's to build on the 4 hour train home. I was told today there will be another recruitment phase coming up in the not too distant future for full-time employees.

I've seen some pretty glowing reviews and at this point I'm planning on making it my last major purchase until the Hobbit sets come out in Dec (Helm's Deep was waiting at my door when I got home, yesss) Also, got Desert Skiff and put it together in about 30 minutes and new Lando and new Boba own bones. I say this as someone who has a 2010 Boba, I really like the black lightsaber handle as a blaster extension but the improvement in detail is even more impressive. I would like to have seen some kind of cape+hood option for Luke, but maybe that's covered in Jabba's Palace or something? I don't really plan on picking up any Star Wars playsets, so I dunno. All the SW:TOR sets have terrible price:piece ratios. I think they're even worse than usual for Star Wars or other licensed sets. The Malevolence is the closest to reasonable. Maybe both LucasFilm and Bioware/EA get cuts? I really like the design of the Striker and Interceptor (enough so that I'll actually build them, not just parts bin them), but I won't get them unless I can get them at least 20% off. Not sure about the Malevolence, though. I've completed sorting what I estimate is 60% of my collection. Now I just have to see if I can cram them back into my bins and drawers. Then I start on the dreaded Miscellaneous bin (If the first word you use to describe it isn't plate, brick, slope, wedge, or tile, it's probably in there)!

Couple of good Amazon UK deals atm: http://brickbadger.com/region/UK Millenium Falcon is 36% off bringing it down to a new low of £85 or so. Atlantis Deep Sea Striker is 75% off! It's a price match with Tesco and brings it doen to five bucks which is like 2p a piece. I actually really like this set.... but at that price it's an awesome deal just for the pieces. Loads of smooth black shell/hull bits and pieces. I got 3, but 2 are for gifts.

Headed to Toys r Us yesterday to check to see if they had the new star wars Lego. My girlfriend picked up the new Gungan sub, I picked up the Desert Skiff and I must say the new Boba Fett is bad rear end. I also picked up The Funhouse to complete my Batman collection (Ya so what I may have every Batman set now). But it's not all fun and games I have officially run out of room to display all my sets and my closet is filled to the brim with empty boxes. My room is also tiny so I don't have many options. Luckily I started a new job and hopefully will be moving out with my girlfriend in the next few months. I'll have to take a picture when we finally get it all set up and post it here because the amount of Lego we've acquired since last August is actually insane. 50+ sets and over 400 minifigures (250ish probably more now just being star wars minifigures) My wallet, it aches.

I can only imagine the creator learning what a hymen is, and then tearing his creation apart in a fit of accidental symbolism. \/\/I think most people won't interpret the name as pertaining to insects, and it's certainly not the sort of thing Lego would take a chance on. Do any of you have the Cool Cruiser? How does it stack up to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis? Is the $20 price difference because of the lack of a license? It is still in the 600-piece range, which sounds good.

It is still in the 600-piece range, which sounds good. Which sets are you comparing it to? The Cool Cruiser is a Creator build, almost all studded. There are some studded 600-700 piece Lambos and Ferraris, but they seem to be out of production and $150 or more on Amazon. The high-end Enzo and the other supercars are almost all studless Technic builds, I think. It's a good deal for parts, if you like tons of yellow curved and cheese wedge pieces. It has 2 trans-clear headlight/SNOT bricks that are otherwise only available in the Grand Emporium and another rare set. I thought the build was a lot of fun; it's surprisingly densely detailed for its size, and has working doors, steering, adjustable seats, and the hood opens to show off the simple engine (which is only a plate deep due to the available space, nothing like the VW Camper's engine). Not a lot of SNOT technique though, except for the seats and the bumpers. I had to take it apart for storage after building the primary model so I can't comment on the Formula car or the crane. I've seen some pretty glowing reviews and at this point I'm planning on making it my last major purchase until the Hobbit sets come out in Dec (Helm's Deep was waiting at my door when I got home, yesss) I realize you asked The Rage but since I built my Sith Interceptor yesterday and he hasn't written anything yet, I thought I'd share my impressions. The ship is pretty small. Looking at it it doesn't give the impression of a model in that price range. The build and the weight, however, does. It's dense. Two bags are used for the cockpit and main part of the hull. The other four are used for the wings (two for each) but because of the complexity of the wings building them doesn't become repetitive. That said there aren't really any unique pieces, but a lot of useful ones, like the 'pistons' used for the folding mechanism of the wings. Sadly the sides of the ship full of 'generic star wars electronics' are DSS and the light saber hilt is some sort of shiny metallic colour rather than chrome. The minifigs, on the other hand, are the most detailed I have ever seen and don't appear in any other set since It was fun to build and looks really good from all angles. The time it took to put together and the complexity suprised me but I honestly wouldn't pay full price for it. Captain Scandinaiva fucked around with this message at 17:34 on Jul 27, 2012 |

Picked it up today with a steam cleaner (thanks walmart for allowing me to get both these things in one place), so it should show up pretty soon. I noticed in one of the reviews that it's like, the same size as the new X-Wing. For the price I was kind of thinking it would be bigger, and I think scale-wise when compared to the other ships it's definitely supposed to be (it's a transport of some kind, really), but ah well. Some speculate that it's due to SWTOR being extra license money on top of SW, but I dunno. Helm's Deep is pretty badass and I really need to find somewhere to put it other than the top of the bookshelf because it's hard to see unless you are standing (or if you are short). I wish they had made the wall from the set transition to the section from Urak-hai more smoothly, but it still looks pretty good. Also could've used another cavalry dude (Eomer is charging with Theoden, oh well) and some sort of generic Rohan soldier (I just have the archer dude from the Urak-hai army set). edit: So, the spider-man set is alright, I do like the lab build and the minifigs, but the mandatory vehicle is lovely and the rear axle just pops off if you look at it wrong. Not too surprising considering there aren't really enough parts to it for stability, but still disappointing. Maybe could've used a different axle design. I do like the old-style TIE canopy as some kind of weird bioscanner, though, and the blue colored pieces are really nice. edit2: Oh hello My wife got this a few weeks ago and put it together with the help of her cousin last night. Of course I got to help some as well, mostly putting together the pad and the booster/fuel tank and a bit of the shuttle. There are some pretty complex bits to the shuttle apparently, some things like the retractable landing gear slowed them down a lot. Stuff I put together was super straight forward, the fuel tank took a little bit due to a lot of corner cheese slope decoration, but the boosters were almost all cylinder and went by lightning fast. I am looking forward to having some space adventures with SW ships. Lex Luthor has already attacked the launch pad. Dogen fucked around with this message at 20:22 on Jul 29, 2012 |

Does anyone have Tower Bridge and have any thoughts about it? My wife and I have been eyeing it for a while now, and with all the Olympic coverage on TV they show it in about half the identifying shots of London. I'm tempted to get it now before they discontinue it, just wanted to hear if anybody had any thoughts on if it was a worthwhile set.

I think it's a great set, the only downside is the symmetry of the two towers means that you're doing the majority of the build twice. With the two of you working on it, though, that might not be as much of a problem. It's quite detailed and nice looking, and it's a good price to piece ratio as well. I'm thinking of attaching Olympic rings to mine once I get it done. Overall, I'd recommend it.

It's a pretty enjoyable build if you're working as a team, and it took us the better part of a day. I can't imagine how tedious it would be alone. There's a decent amount of SNOT, and some other interesting techniques used. The microscale vehicles are awesome, and the double-decker bus was one of my favorite parts of the whole set. The only downsides I have are that it really is huge (if that's indeed a downside), and that a large amount of that size is dedicated to roadway sections. The towers are awesome, but but the bits that exist solely to have something to attach the "cables" to are sorely lacking. Overall, not a bad set, and certainly a nice conversation piece.
