I mean I can get Left Hand's Milk Stout, Troegs Troegenator, Edmund Fitzgerald, Victory's Baltic Porter, and etc instead of risking an infected bottle. Doesn't seem worth it. You seem to have skipped over this post from a dude who used to work there. Kosher Man posted:Yeah it seems DR had some infection issues over the last 6 months. Paul replaced some hoses and changed out the way they handled the yeast and it seems to have fixed itself now. It sucks that it happened but now that they have built a lab hopefully it shouldn't happen again. Duck Rabbit is one of the gems of the Mid-Atlantic and you're doing yourself a disservice to skip them because of an infection problem. Every brewery has QC issues, the ones that I'd stay away from are the ones that never acknowledge them and just quietly fix them or worse, don't.

I'm fine skipping them since they don't distribute to my state (I have to go to Philly for them) and everything I've had by them I can find cheaper from a more local brewery (Troegs, Victory, Weyerbacher, DFH, etc). It's good they fixed the infection issues, hopefully, but that's my deterrence from now on.

Have you had a sour stout before? NB Lips of Faith are pretty hit and miss for me but this was great, I thought. *and the band. Clutch kicks rear end.

Had a nice trip to the Seattle area this past weekend. Sadly we had minimal time for beer tourism, but I did get a Ninkasi Total Domination IPA which was pretty excellent. Also got a nice surprise from my in-laws who live in Maine. "Oh hey we were at this farmer's market near Portland and got talking to some guy from Allagash brewing. He gave us these for free, and we know you like beer so we brought them for you" *busts out bottles of Allagash Tripel Reserve and Curieux* So basically I went to Seattle, had no Pacific NW beers, but came home with a bunch of outstanding Maine beers somehow. Not complaining.

Docjowles posted:*busts out bottles of Allagash Tripel Reserve and Curieux* Those are both amazing. The tripel is my favorite for the style and Curiuex is a bit better. Just a hint of bourbon compared to most bourbon barrel aged beers.

Curieux is one of my favorite barrel-aged beers. One of the few that really balances the bourbon and the white oak with the beer itself. Just tossed a Brewdog Dogma into the fridge. Looking forward to it after I get done sanding the loving deck in muggy weather tonight.

Well, Dogma is a loving weird beer. I guess I should have expected that. The flavors are interestingly complex, it's just not... good. Poppyseed, Honey, Guarana, Kola Nut... they're there, but they don't play nice.

Anything by Weihenstephaner will own, yup. Sierra Nevada Kellerweis is also a great traditional hefeweizen and should be easy to find almost anywhere. If people don't want that "weird banana poo poo" as Angry Grimace suggested, I'm partial to New Belgium Sunshine Wheat as a refreshing and inoffensive wheat beer.
