Any Daemon or psyker that suffers one or more unsaved wounds from Nemesis Force Weapons must make a Ld check at the end of the Assault phase; if they fail the model is removed as a casualty. Ah poo poo, forgot about that. Still, that's not instant death, so I'm technically correct.

The best kind of correct. I'm just glad that I have GK in my back pocket because I suspect that we'll be seeing a lot more Daemons on the table in a couple of months.

The Gate posted:Current Fantasy rules for scouts (infiltrate) and vanguard (sort of like 5ths scout move) specify that you can't charge if you have the first turn, but can if you go second. It's entirely possible that they wanted it to work that way in 40k as well. Like you said, either way they get a turn to react. It makes complete sense to me and I really don't feel like I'm cheating or being a dick. I spent 195pts on Shrike and you can walk backwards to avoid me. I'm starting 18" away, Geez. Tequila Ranger posted:The init bonus might still be useful against all the high-init Flying Monsterous Creatures we will all be sure to see once the new Deamons and Chaos SM codexes come out; You dont have to be super-lucky to have a Halbred ID one, just kinda lucky. I'd bring at least one halbred in each squad of 5, if only to reduce the # of incoming attacks at Int Step 4. The problem I see VS demon princes is my I6 attacks won't be able to kill the beast before it swings. I'm not counting on a failed LD check of 10. I will wound it with one to two swords and a final hammer wound or two to finish it off or at the very least make it I1 next turn so my swords go first regardless. Keeping my guys alive vs the AP2 attacks seem more important. Since we resolve wounds via who is in base-to-base I get to put Ap2 wounds on my Sword guys and have my hammer stick around to slam down. Challenges could present a problem. In this situation if the justicar had the hammer then the DP would challenge me. If the justicar had a sword and a regular jackoff had the hammer then I would be free to decline. I'm not sure if this would be a good idea in other situations though. Seems like from an 'Allcomers' standpoint I still want hammers on my characters and swords on the rest. If I'm going up VS big scary daemons then I'll just have to enjoy the free re-rolls to hit and wound (of '1') in my shooting/assault phase and call it a day.

Don't forget about psyk-out grenades. It might be harder to charge a flying Daemon Prince but if you do, he's reduced to I1 for that assault phase. Then the hammers can hopefully keep it at I1 until it dies. I don't see the point of taking halberds anymore. I never really liked them to begin with, however.

Halberds only ever really had a place in Grand Masters (and with them being AP3 now you have a very strong case for hammers for challenges nowadays) and Purifiers.

Good News Everyone, or at least nifty rumors. Sisters seem to possibly have some new models in the line-up, likely to be introduced(but unlikely to have a co-insiding release) in the December iBooks codex. Here is the alledged list of new models, RE seems to be Resin, PL seems to be plastic. Bolter and Chainsword posted:For the Sororitas we are looking at the following.

Finally got my first game of 6th Edition in. I lost. Fellow goon Raverrn and I played The Relic mission, and while I think we had a decent handle on most of the rules I wondered how much of it was just me leaning on 5th Ed. rules unconsciously. In any case, I feel like it gave me that tiny bit of motivation to finish my Rune Priest.

Sole.Sushi posted:You lost because the relic was in his pants the whole time. I lost because he mutilated a full-strength Blood Claw squad with Plasma (and I failed about 70% of my armor saves on lasgun wounds), swooped in with a Vet squad to pick up the relic and promptly cut off my Grey Hunters from assaulting them with some Elysian Tauros. The tactically sound jerk. The main problem is that I wanted to use painted stuff only and that meant dropping a lot of points in a 1k list for Terminator Njal, who promptly did nothing for half the game and then nearly won it by himself in the second half.

Played a game with my 1850 tournament list against fellow goon's list (Dagonis) and lost pretty handily. He's got a real mean Dark Eldar list and I don't see myself beating anything as shooty or mobile with my current build. We were playing Purge the Alien on lengthwise deployment. My droppod army deepstruck in and was picked apart pretty easily. Lost the Caestus to blasters, lost everything else to very focused barrages of splinter rifles. Not so sure my droppod list will work with the Caestus - but I'd like to run it. It just a big ol' fire magnet. e: Woah, great list of stuff - who put that out and do they have any idea when we'll see the codex released?
