Hey all! It's been a long while since I dropped a new mix on you all, but here it is. I'm incredibly proud of how this one turned out. Atmospheric/Minimal Drum & Bass/Bass, lots of tracks from Med School if you're into that kind of sound. I'm really digging it and I decided to record a 4-deck mix in Traktor with my VCI-100SE - keeping track of all the EQ settings was a nightmare but it came out better than I could have hoped (after a few dozen re-records). I got my musical chops with ambient/downtempo/dub and I'm loving this trend in D&B. PS - a silly technical comment about my mix - between when the second track starts and the last track starts, there is no time where less than 2 tracks are playing simultaneously and most of the middle of the mix is either 3 or 4 at once. I've never done anything like that before and I recommend everybody here try out multi-deck mixing for a new challenge if you haven't already!

also i'm in search for DJ mixes like this one (or in general, DJs who mix this type of music). The only one I know of so far is mimosa (and that's only because he was opening for STS9), and he doesnt have much online in the way of DJ mixes. thanks goons!!!

Yeah, i have noticed a very nice trend in bass heavy, atmospheric (but not flowery Bukem-style atmo) "drum and bass" tracks that draw pretty heavy rhythmically from dub and downtempo. I shudder whenever I call it "post-dnb" but haven't found a better term. Whatever it is, it's really nice and I think a lot of old heads are starting to perk back up after heraing some.

Just tried my hardest to spoof Dubstep as hard as possible. My audio interface doesn't have a separate headphone channel so I can't prelisten and thus the mixes are a bit rough, but I think I got my point across. http://soundcloud.com/mrthedevious/thebestdubstep I wouldn't post it here, because it's of inferior DJ quality, but it blew up on Facebook, so I think the pure entertainment value may outweigh the lack of skill. Just had my first real "digital" gig after making the switch from vinyl. I was very nervous since I'd literally never done a gig without records before, but everything seemed to go just fine. It was an incredible sound system, and they let me start a bit early so I had a full 90 minutes at the party. Just recorded a mix last night high as hell at the end of my night. I'm on vacation in LA so I didn't have my controller so I opened up virtual dj (HELL YEAH) and made this.
