I'm using New Vegas Redesigned 2, and I really like the way Dracomies made Sunny Smiles look (I'm using the 'recommended version'), would it be possible to get that face file as a preset to use on my own character? hunted by a freak fucked around with this message at 03:14 on Aug 13, 2012 |

FOMM is stable as a rock while NMM tends to be buggy and crash, in my experience.

Having said that I've recently gone back to it and it seems much more stable and reliable than it used to be so now I guess it's just a matter of preference.

Everything was going great until I started Honest Hearts. Before, it would crash every once in a while, and it wasn't even much of a problem. Now I feel it's crashing every five to ten minutes. I keep worrying that maybe it's a mod I changed or something (like getting rid of MMUE or something). How can I generate a load order list? Maybe there's something wrong there. EDIT: I also can't run FOMM, it seems. Crashes on start up. EDIT 2: Alright, everything I try doesn't seem to help at all (reorganizing loads, merging patches, etc). I'm crashing to desktop every five minutes. EDIT 3/4: Huh. I might be speaking too soon, but maybe a little conflict and patch from FNVEdit was all it needed. Haven't crashed yet in twenty minutes [aaaaand I spoke too soon]. Drake Lake fucked around with this message at 19:58 on Aug 13, 2012 |

FronzelNeekburm posted:My Steam folder is on a separate non-UAC drive, but Mod Organizer doesn't seem to be aware of UAC at all. So the installer tries to just copy MO into Program Files, which fails, and it doesn't add the program properly to the Start Menu, so the application doesn't even show up if I type its name in (which is also complicated by "ModOrganiser.exe" going into the "ModOrganizer" folder). And when it tries to update, it can't for the same reason. And it also spits out some warning about not being able to apply ini tweaks when it closes. Contrary to what the installer suggests, you're actually supposed to install Mod Organizer to the game folder like so: Also, I don't believe the installer adds the game to the system registry (hence the lack of a shortcut), but you can do such (adding a shortcut, either to the start menu or the taskbar) via context menu on the program's exe.

Is JSawyer a difficulty mod? I thought it was just a balance thing. It's the only mod I'm using right now, and I'm getting slaughtered by groups of gunslingers with grenade rifles and such south of Novak. At level 4 just now. Is it the mod making them have this sort of gear, or is New Vegas just harder than 3 in general?

Hrm, I'm running JSawyer, and when I ran into those particular groups (that is, if you're referring to the ones I'm thinking of), only one of the Vipers had a grenade rifle. Are you running any mods besides JSawyer that might be modifying the spawns?

They're pretty rare on NPCs in general though.

The gang members didn't have stuff like Grenade Rifles in the vanilla release but they got them in one of the patches. I believe the reason (besides making enemies a bit more dangerous and interesting) was to distribute some more Explosive weapons at the start of the game for characters that focus on Explosives.

It's kinda both. It lowers exp gain pretty significantly and makes certain items harder to find. I don't think it's responsible for your issue though. I think 4 might be a little too low for the Novac area though, I was around 9 by the time I made it there. I'm also using Cirosans Classic Overhaul so our experiences may be slightly different. Speaking of the wonderful Cirosans Classic Overhaul, something is up with that web page. It appears to be an earlier version posted up there and the download link doesn't work. In the meantime I've hosted the most recent version (1.21)here and the JSawyer compatibility patch here.

All right, I'm starting to have issues gameplay wise. I don't have a whole lot installed. Mainly JSawyer, PN, CCO, and The Armory with a side dish of IWS. Everything I've left on default settings My issue is that combat is simply not fun. At all. I'm still getting a grip of how skills and perks work with this setup (skills go past 100 now? whaaaa?) but with 101 on guns my rifle spread is way too loving much to the point where I can't hit anything further than 10ft. away. I meet the STR requirement for the particular weapon and also the gun skill for it. food/drink/sleep are on 0 and it's just frustrating basically burning through the already scarce ammo because I can't hit anything. So my question is, which mode is affecting this? Is it The Armory's Ballistics or CCO's Gameplay? Is it Sawyers and who the gently caress thought this would be fun? I basically want a deadlier game where I can be killed as fast as I can kill where I can be rewarded for putting bullets where I'm aiming rather than hoping to god my skills will land the bullet where I want it. EDIT: I'm going to take a wild guess and say most of the changes came from CCO so I'm getting rid of that and trying a new run and see how it feels. I don't think it's CCO. I'm running a PN/CCO/Jsawyer setup and my experience is not like you are describing it. Did you enable the PN Rebalance mod? Cause you shouldn't do that. Is JSawyer last on your load list? Did you make sure and use the dozens of CCO compatibility esps? I'm not an expert in these things but feel free to post a load order and I can compare it to what I'm doing. As far as I know, you're not going to find a mod that makes everything die fast. I'm also not sure why your skills are going past 100 unless it's just a random leftover point from you tagging it. Early on, I used the Varmint Rifle for pretty much everything, with a bit of 9mm when things got close. Then I got the cowboy repeater and pretty much used just that until I moved on to the hunting rifle. I barely used VATS at all until I got perks to help it out, I mainly used bullet time because that poo poo is baller as hell. One weird tip is to pick up the spiked knuckles from a safe inside the Primm casino. These things absolutely tear up anything at low levels regardless of whether or not you have skill in unarmed. Neither overhaul changes ballistics in the way you're describing (where you're missing things 10 feet away, even with 100 in Guns) although I don't have any personal experience with the Armory or its plugins. The only thing I can suggest is using JSawyer + PN Rebalance, loading PN Rebalance after JSawyer, and configuring it via the MCM so that weapons do a lot of damage. JSawyer lowers the base health of NPCs, which means they won't have that extra 100-200 HP soaking up your bullets.

People all too often forget that beyond your skills, stats, and perks, the base gun spread has a big say in the accuracy of the gun. Add bullet drop into the mix and you could have problems, yes. You could simply have an unholy mix of 'crappy' weapons (keep in mind if you're using the leveled lists, the beginning game guns are gonna be kind of crappy as they should be), bullet ballistics, and game balance/enemy health issues from other mods that's making things hard.

Yeah it just caught me off guard. I need to re-do my load order (and restart yet again) with this in mind and maybe focus on melee for a little while and stick to only the varmint rifle until I find a better gun to choose as my signature weapon. Or maybe make the varmint the signature for a while. This should work for load order so everything plays nicely while having JSawyer as the main mod (aka last to load, right?)code:

A question on Cirosan's Follower Tweaks. In his readme it mentions you can replace a companion's ranged and melee weapon by simply giving them a different weapon. I can see Cass's shotgun but when I tell her to melee I can not see her combat knife in the directory. Can somebody tell me how to force an NPC to use certain ranged or melee weapons and why I am not seeing Cass's knife in her inventory?

What is the proper load order for CCO + PN + JSawyer? I have CCO and PN currently, but want to go ahead and add JSawyer into it, but don't know where they (PN patch, CCO patch, and JSawyer itself) go. edit: Oh, guess there isn't a JSaywer/PN patch. I guess just the two esps then. Endymion FRS MK1 fucked around with this message at 04:53 on Aug 14, 2012 |

I've gotten a strange bug, my Intelligence as been reduced to 1 (from 4). I have no idea what caused this, and just noticed it yesterday. Maybe its a bug from getting addicted to vodka? Maybe its caused by that perk that is supposed to add +1 to you intelligence when you talk to people? I'm running Project Nevada and CCO. Is there a simply way I can fix this through the console?
